MK6 in 2D
MK6 in 2D
alright let get back to tha old school style...personially i think some games shouldnt come into tha 3D world ,and this is one of them.just think....
Photo realistic 3D backgrounds...
Realistic lookin characters..no cartoon colors..
All the moves they took out for mk5,cuz they couldnt be done in 3D ,are back..
Im just not feelin the new style of mk5..just dosent feel like it..too cartoon looking..it needs that dark feeling back, and i doubt they can bring that feeling back in 3D..unless they got somethin very slick up there sleeves for mk6...
and so what if 2D is a old thing and its damn near 2004..MK 1 and 2 were tight..

Uh, no. 2D was in the past this is the future. I highly doubt that MK would ever make it in the 2D world, now days. Besides, it would be completely pointless to convert a 3D game that they spent ALL that time in making and converting it back to 2D. Total waste of money and time to go back to 2D, and most likely, it wouldn't sale. People would look at the back and say "what the fuckis this?!" Bad idea.

i think it's possible to have much more realistic 3d graphics on current generation hardware. Just look at max payne 2.

3d is great if they do it well. Look at MK4 vs MKDA. But even MKDA needs much improvment. I love 2d games but they won't sell. It could not be old school- it would have to be revolutionary.

If it is 2d and it's great the yeah I'll buy it, I think it is still possible to make great 2d fighting games. I hate mkda because it absolutely does not feel like mk at all. Hopefully they can improve that alot in mk6

I know what you mean. The past MK games had a much darker theme and more gothic like, etc... Even creepier arena's and some creepy sounding music. But I like the feel of MK:DA more though. Sometimes I felt uncomfortable with the mood and feel of the past MK games, don't know why. Lol.
But I think they should bring back some of the old music and put some of it in MK6, along with new music. Just maybe tweak the sound of the old music to make it fit in more with the game. I would love for them to bring back that techno track that was played during the Subway arena on MK3/UMK3/MK: Trilogy. But make it sound even better.
Now, for the topic. Taking MK back to 2D is a bad idea. Especially when it's gonna be on PS2, xBox, etc...

2d is not dead but it has lost popularity. Again, if you make a great 2d game that is different than other ones, it could sell. But many people don't think outside the box enough to realize a well developed 2d game can be as deep as a good 3d game, or maybe not enough good 2d games are out to convince them.
I must say, i would LOVE a great 2D mk6 more than a great 3D mk6. Mk2 got me hooked and will never let go. Photorealistic 2D just makes the game so much more "realistic" and intruiging. I just don't see it happening though.

i luv 2D games, but NO, it would be unjust to convert it back to 3D. Unless it was revolutionary it would not sell well.

..No...Just no...Nothing wrong with the way it is now. Only problem really is the blood. That's the only cartoony thing about it.
Everything else is the same but in 3D.

I agree that the developers did a good job keeping the feel similar though the arial combat was lacked what it had in prevous games.

I'm guessing maybe they can throw in a secret 2D mode in MK6, but I doubt it, it would be cool.

To me thats like saying lets go back to the black and white TV. Noway hose. Or saying, we need to stop high defenition TV.
When they get even better 3D graphics, you guys will like it better.

Granted parts of MKDA had a less unrealistic feel than previous ghames we all need to remember one thing, this was their first attempt at a true 3D game and it was a rushed one. Like everything else I believe that as the team begins to grow to use the hardware and rendering methods the Character models and blood will look better (main problem with graphics in DA. I thought the stages looked fine if not a little too bright.) I have faith in the team and believe that they still have the drive to amaze their loyal followers. So in short, no I wouldn't like to see the return to 2D.

Let me start out by saying I want it to be 3d (only if it is good, I guess). But I would compare 2d fighters not to black and white tvs but b&w photography: yeah maybe there is color but it takes real art to make it and when you do it comes out great.

I'm sorry, but until 3D fighting games can get quality long distance fighting (e.g. with projectiles) and better arial combat, they can't compare to the strategy and depth of 2D fighters. It seems lots of people like to hate on 2D cause its "in the past" but there so muuch that can be done with it. Compare the 2D fighting games to the 3D ones graphically. The 2D ones are a thing of artistic beauty. The 3D ones just go for realism and can't even get that right usually. If I wanted realism, I'd look outside. So, for now, to me, 3D fighters are not as good as 3D fighters. Sure MK:DA, SC, and VF4: Evo are all nice, but they lack that oomf. Anyways, we know there won't ever be another 2D MK. :( Here's hoping for a some sort of hidden 2D MK in one of the upcoming games. For the record, though, I'm NOT saying 3D fighters suck. I have high hopes for MK6....

Are you guys insane? Mortal Kombat will flunk out of the market if it was made in 2D. Dont you guys know that?

Maybe, maybe not. IMO, if a 2d game is done right it could sell. But it would have to be done real well. Its funny how 3d fighters (many of which have about as much depth as a paper clip) sell a lot these days. But if you make any game really well and market it well it should sell.
