EVENTS IN DEADLY ALLIANCE YOU MUST BE AWARE OF
- Scorpion had infiltrated Shang Tsung's Palace in Outworld in search of Quan-Chi, but instead found Moloch and Drahmin, who were being kept by Shang Tsung just in case Quan-Chi tried anything. Scorpion fought hard, but was eventually defeated. The two Oni took his body to the Soulnado and threw him in there. He would have suffered a second death, but managed to escape into The Void. There, he saw the Elder Gods. They decided to make him their champion, as some unseen trouble was going on. They sent him to the Nexus at once!
- Kenshi was still searching for Shang Tsung, but was attacked by Mavado. As payment for getting to face Kano, Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi ordered him to attack Kenshi. The two fought, but in the end Mavado won, leaving Kenshi seriously wounded.
- While Sub-Zero and Frost were heading to the rendevouz point where they would meet Raiden, Sonya, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, and Jax to face the Deadly Alliance, Frost unleashed her secret plot to steal the Dragon Medallion from Sub-Zero. She subdued him and took it, but she didn't have the discipline to control it. She ended up freezing herself. In respect for his now-dead student, Sub-Zero took her frozen body to bury it....he never made it to the rendevous point.
- The war with Shao Kahn seemed to be over. They lost control of Edenia, and their forces had retreated off the battlefield. Edenia was safe once more, it seemed, but something was wrong. Kitana had never returned with her armies. Jade decided to leave to investigate.
- The war may have been over, but Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi decided to send a small message to Kitana by sending some of the undead soldiers after her Edenian forces. They slaughtered them, and when their souls went to a Soulnado overhead, Kitana knew something was wrong. She met Kung Lao, who was going to train with Bo Rai Cho. From him, she learned of the Deadly Alliance and Liu Kang's death. She decided she would help out and told her Edenian forces to stay put until she returned.
- Bo Rai Cho heard of the Deadly Alliance from Kung Lao, who had stopped by along with Kitana to train with him. He also heard news of Liu Kang's death. He decided he would put an end to such a force. He went to go attack them himself after Kung Lao and Kitana left. He secretly infiltrated Shang Tsung's Palace and witnessed Li Mei winning their little tournament. However, instead of freeing her people like they had promised, Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi attacked her, planning to use her soul to fill one of the undead soldiers. Outraged by this atrocity, Bo Rai Cho jumped out and attacked them, disrupting the process of soul transplantation and sending the soul back to Li Mei's body. Bo Rai Cho carried her out of the palace with hordes of Outworld's armies after them. He managed to escape safely with her...
CONCLUSION TO KONQUEST
Damashi continued to manipulate Shujinko into bringing forth the six Kamidogu. He was telling him to bring for the last one located in Edenia, as he would soon get a physical form and then he would reveal all to Shujinko.
Meanwhile, back on Outworld, Reptile searched for Nitara and Cyrax, hellbent on getting his vengeance on them for Shao Kahn's murder. It took him to a volcano, where he found that Cyrax and Nitara had disappeared. Just then, the Dragon Egg that Onaga's holy men had been incubating for centuries since his death (legends foretold once the dragon embryo had hatched, the Dragon King would be reborn) had hatched. Once it did, it lanced a beam into Reptile that twisted and transformed his body. He was Reptile no more. He had become Onaga, the Dragon King. The prophecy was fulfilled.
Shujinko finally retrieved the final Kamidogu and put it on the altar in the Nexus. Scorpion had tried to stop him on command by the Elder Gods, but he beat him. Once the Kamidogu were in place, Onaga appeared! It turned out that "Damashi", who had guided Shujinko through his journey, was merely an avatar Onaga had adopted that he used as his consciousness, to watch events unfold from beyond death. He manipulated Shujinko into bringing the Kamidogu to him, which he would need to complete his plan. He chased Shujinko out of the Nexus, attempting to kill him. Shujinko was back on Earthrealm, cursing himself for bringing about Onaga's power. Somehow, some way he would have to stop him. Onaga's "collection" wasn't complete, however. He needed the amulet to make the Kamidogu function. He knew where it was, too....
CONCLUSION TO THE DEADLY ALLIANCE CLIFFHANGER
Raiden, Jax, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, Sonya, and Kitana had met at the rendezvous point to deal with Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi. However, they were all attacked by hordes of Tarkatan and Outworld forces. It was all too much. All of them died, except for Raiden. He knew he was the last chance. The Elder Gods told him not to, but Raiden went ahead anyway.
He challenged Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi himself. He fought hard, but the two sorcerers overpowered him. It seemed they had finally won, but they had been suspicious about eachother for quite some time. They wanted more than they liked to share, thus Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi fought. In the end, Quan-Chi won. But then, he heard a noise. He looked....and Onaga was coming after him! Onaga had come for the amulet, which was in Quan-Chi's possession. He tried to overpower him, but couldn't. Aware of what a threat Onaga could be to them all, Raiden and Shang Tsung aided Quan-Chi in trying to destroy him. They couldn't. Realizing this, Raiden focused all of his godlike essence and used it to destroy EVERYTHING, including the Deadly Alliance. Whether he did or not has yet to be seen, but one thing is for sure....Onaga was still alive, barely scratched. And he had the amulet. He finally had what he needed to make the Kamidogu function. Immediately, every Outworld force in the Deadly Alliance's employment had sworn their loyalty to him. He had the armies and he had the power. He then used his power to ressurect to bring every fallen warrior to life. Sonya, Jax, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, and Kitana were ressurected, and brought under Onaga's power. They were now all his mindless slaves. That was the first step. Now he needed the last step...He told all armies to regroup to the Living Forest.
AND SO DECEPTION BEGINS...
Jade had seen it all. While she was out looking for Kitana and her armies, she had found her deceased friend brought back to life under Onaga's power. She decided to follow them to the Living Forest. When she heard the whole story, she raced back to Edenia. She had to warn Sindel and fas.
Shang Tsung's body was destroyed, however, and therefore all the souls he consumed were free, Liu Kang's being one of them. However, he was very aware of what had just happened. He knew he would be needed. Liu Kang stayed put. The purpose in taking Onaga down would come soon.
The Elder Gods had seen what had happened as well. They knew Onaga would try and wake up The One Being. They sent Scorpion, their new champion, to deal with this unholy threat. Scorpion now travels in the name of the Elder Gods to locate Onaga and find him at his weak point then strike him down!
When the Deadly Alliance was wiped out, many of their employees felt wiped out. Among them was Tanya, (who had been wandering Outworld ever since escaping from Edenia, where she could not return or she'd be killed. She served in Shao Kahn's army briefly, helping Outworld forces to infiltrate Edenia in the war, but she failed in her mission, but when she returned found Shao Kahn dead and the Deadly Alliance her new masters). She was to help bring the Deadly Alliance into Edenia, but when they died, she found herself without a master, and was left to wander once more. Eventually, Baraka found her. Baraka had also been helping the Deadly Alliance, leading the Tarkatans under their influence. Now he followed Onaga. He told her about him and their plan and was given a choice: join or die. Knowing she would be killed, Tanya allied herself with Onaga.
Other employees did not join. Among them was Mavado. When he learned of the Deadly Alliance's destruction, he merely went back to Earthrealm to lead the Red Dragon. No use serving a useless cause.
Another was Noob Saibot. He had served Shao Kahn in the war, and then switched his allegiance to the Deadly Alliance once they killed him, but when they died, he left. He decided he no longer wanted or needed a master. He would start his own army. He began his search for recruits. One of the places he searched was deep in Shao Kahn's palace. While looking around, he found Smoke, whom the Outworld forces had captured back in the Earthrealm invasion. Shao Kahn had kept him as a prize. Noob Saibot fiddled with Smoke's programming, and brought him under his control. Together, they strode off to form their own army under Noob Saibot's control.
Onaga had found allies. Hotaru, the leader of the Seidan Guardsmen in Seido (the Orderrealm), had decided to swear his allegiance to Onaga. Hotaru had brought peace and order to the city of Lei Chen in Outworld some time ago. He knew that in Onaga's past reign, he had swept peace throughout Outworld. Determined to bring order back to the chaotic realm, Hotaru had his men join up with Onaga.
While searching for a place to bury Frost, Sub-Zero came upon an ancient cavern. He entered it, and surprisingly found it was the hideout for a race of cryomancers, beings who had the power to control ice. Sub-Zero was astonished at this new discovery and proceeded to research it some more. After thorough studying, he came to the conclusion that he and Frost were descendants of this race. He learned ALOT more about his ice tactics. Out of respect, he buried Frost in the tomb there and set off to conquer the Deadly Alliance at the rendezvous point. While out searching, Sub-Zero was attacked by Tarkatans, who viewed him as an intruder. Sub-Zero crushed them all. He did not know it, but it would make him a threat to Onaga. The Tarkatans had returned to Onaga and told him of Sub-Zero. Recognizing him as a possible threat, Onaga decided to send Hotaru after him. Hotaru found Sub-Zero and they fought, but Sub-Zero took him out. After, he kept trekking and surprisingly found Kenshi, who was wounded after much battle with Mavado. Sub-Zero tended his wounds, nursing him back to health. When Kenshi awoke, he found that the spirits of his warrior ancestors returned to his sword which could only mean one thing - Shang Tsung was dead, and the Deadly Alliance had fallen apart. With no purpose to stay in Outworld anymore, Sub-Zero and Kenshi decided to work together to find a way back to Earthrealm, unaware of Onaga's threat. What they don't know is that Sub-Zero failed to kill Hotaru. He is still following them, waiting for the chance to eradicate these threats to the Dragon King.
However, what Hotaru was unaware of were his own personal settings. With a majority of the Seidan Guardsmen now under Onaga's control, Seido was left vulnerable. The leader of the Resistance in Seido, a man known as Darrius, saw his chance to bring REAL peace and order in Seido. He enlisted the help of a well-known mercenary in Seido's underground known as Dairou. He paid Dairou to kill Hotaru. Dairou was reluctant, though. In the past, he was a Seidan Guardsmen along with Hotaru. Some time ago, his family was murdered (unknowingly, Darrius had paid a man to do it. He planned on using Dairou one day). When Dairou heard, he lost control and tracked the man. He slew him, and was arrested for murder. He was put in incarceration for life. However, during the riots the Resistance put on against the Seidan Guardsmen, he was freed. Once freed, Dairou decided to take allegiance with no one and became a mercenary. However, he still had some respect for Hotaru. This would be difficult.
Onaga's ultimate goal was to find a document that would fuse the Kamidogu together, thus giving him unlimited power beyond anyone's dream. He was lucky Tanya decided to join him. She knew where it was - Edenia. It was information that was supposed to be destroyed, but was hidden deep in the base for many millenia. No one ever found it, but everyone knew it was there.
Thus, Onaga's armies traveled to Edenia and attacked. They eventually took it over and Onaga took the Queen Sindel captive. He put Kitana, who was under his control, as her guard knowing that Sindel would not attack her own daughter. He then had his men search the kingdom for the document that would fuse the Kamidogu.
Meanwhile, Baraka had to set someone free. When Shinnok's invasion of Edenia had ended, Mileena (his partner) was taken captive and put in the lowest dungeon. He ventured there and set Mileena free. He knew she would be a good asset to Onaga. Mileena wanted to kill Kitana, but Baraka told her she couldn't, as she was now Onaga's bodyguard. He introduced her and Onaga approved. He had a mission for them. He knew that the Edenian soldiers still outside of the city (still waiting for Kitana) would come to defend their town eventually. Therefore, he told Mileena and Baraka to lure them away. Mileena's appearance as Kitana would fool them. Baraka would lead his Tarkatan warriors against them.
When Jade finally returned to Edenia, she was surprised to see her kingdom taken over. She knew she had to act fast! She infiltrated Onaga's armies and found her way to where Sindel was being kept. She fought Kitana, eventually beating her, and freed Sindel. They quickly escaped but as they went through a portal to Outworld, Jade caught sight of Tanya. She knew it was her that led the Dragon King to Edenia. Sindel feared that she knew what Onaga was after, and she was right. Tanya's punishment would have to wait. Sindel's primary concern was to free her daughter Kitana from him. She knew she could not defeat Onaga, she would have to learn more about him. So, she began her journey with Jade accompanying her. Together, they will liberate Edenia from the Dragon King and bring their lost friend/daughter back.
Back on Outworld, Bo Rai Cho tended to Li Mei. Ever since he had resuced her from the Deadly Alliance, he had taken her under his wing. He trained her in his styles and taught her stuff. Li Mei was grateful for what Bo Rai Cho did for her, and stayed with him. Recently, they had heard that Onaga had returned and planned to take back all that was his. It was for this reason they began to get involved more with Outworld's armies. They would help to liberate the realm, to free it from the tyranny of evil that has overrun it for many eons. Despite Bo Rai Cho's patriotic feelings, Li Mei could not help but feel a sense of doubt. Ever since Onaga came back, she's felt drawn to him, like a need to serve him. She does not know why, but her dark feelings stem from her time spent in the warrior corpse the Deadly Alliance tried to put on her. That brief moment tainted her soul with the spirit of a warrior loyal to Onaga. She reluctantly joins Bo Rai Cho in his ongoing mission.
Mileena and Baraka put their mission into full scale. Mileena goes to the Edenian armies that were awaiting Kitana and they believe it's her, since she is her twin and all. She tells them to head in the direction she leads them, which is away from Edenia and towards Baraka's Tarkatan hordes. They slowly lead them to Outworld to join up with the forces Bo Rai Cho and Li Mei have started up with other Outworld rebels. Once there, Mileena orders the Edenian soldiers to join with the Outworld forces (thereby she gives command of the army to Bo Rai Cho) and they do battle with Baraka's Tarkatan militia. This useless war is distracting them all, unbeknownst to them. The war did not go well at all. Outworld's leaders were just disagreeing and fighting with eachother. Bo Rai Cho felt like giving up, eventually. Nothing was going well. Someone was watching it. While searching for ways to infiltrate the Dragon King, Liu Kang caught sight of Bo Rai Cho's plight. He offered encouraging words, and Bo Rai Cho went back to the fight.
Liu Kang wasn't exactly without issues himself. He had witnessed Onaga taking Edenia and he was powerless to stop it. Even more painful was the fact that his fellow comrades Johnny Cage, Sonya, Jax, Kung Lao, and especially Kitana (whom we all know he's in love with) were now under Onaga's influence. He knew he had to free them....but how? He got his chance when he ran into Ermac. They were once enemies, but Liu Kang was surprised to see that Ermac had changed his ways (while Kenshi searched for Shang Tsung in "Deadly Alliance", he ran into Ermac who still served Shao Kahn. Kenshi allowed Ermac to free himself. Finally, he was free to seek his own destiny). Ermac was looking for a way to redeem himself for all of the atrocities he committed while serving Shao Kahn. He asked Liu Kang if he needed help. Liu Kang definitely felt he could use Ermac's help, and enlisted him in his quest to somehow free his friends. However, the two of them had other things on their minds. Liu Kang was in his spirit form, but was still connected to his body. Some unknown force, definitely not Onaga, was using his body to decimate anything in its path. Liu Kang feels guilt for the deaths his body has caused, but does not know why his corpse is committing such harmful practices, nor does he know who dug it up and is having it do these things. It would have to wait but somehow, he knew he had to find a way to unite himself once more and stop this. Meanwhile, Ermac felt something about Onaga. It wasn't him. Someone is controlling him. Only he doesn't know it. It seems to be.....the very fabric of the realms?
Meanwhile, things weren't exactly quiet on Earthrealm either.
Some years ago, Kabal was ambushed by the Red Dragon. They were looking to kill him, as he was a member of the Black Dragon. Kabal had long since abandoned his shameful past after the Outworld invasion, but Mavado and his crew cared not. They wanted Kabal dead. Mavado faced off with him and in the end, mortally wounded Kabal. Thought to have killed him, he took his hookswords from him. Kabal would have died, but a cleric of Chaos from Nadiro, the Chaosrealm, named Havik nursed him back to health. Havik did so because he wanted Kabal to restart the Black Dragon. At first Kabal refused, but Havik persuaded and convinced with ideal arguments, and Kabal decided Havik was right. He would restart the Black Dragon and make them the most calculated ruthless crime organization ever. They would cause the downfall of civilization. Havik liked the idea. This would cause chaos. Kabal first would get his honor back. He used all of his leads in the criminal underground to find where Mavado was hiding. He finally found him and attacked him. He killed Mavado (or at least brutalized him) and took his hookswords back.
Havik is from Nadiro, the Chaosrealm, where the belief that chaos is a way of life runs rampant. Many from this realm travel throughout the universe, sowing seeds of discontent and spreading chaos wherever they go. Havik is their most celebrated cleric. He had been watching things happening since Onaga had returned, and saw this as the perfect opportunity to create chaos like no one had ever seen. First, he decided to wait for Kabal to rebuild the Black Dragon. He would need them. Until then, he went to the city of Lei Chen (the Outworld city that Hotaru had broughten peace and order to). Havik hated Hotaru and everything his beliefs stood for - peace and order. Havik undid the peace, and put Lei Chen in a state of chaos. All in a day's work.
Kabal, meanwhile, found two new recruits for the Black Dragon. One was a woman (disguised as a man) who had negotiated with terrorists from Afghanistan. She sold them nuclear weapons until they discovered she was a woman. She fought her way out of it, though. Her name was Kira. Kabal liked her style and asked her to be apart of the new Black Dragon. Kira agreed. The other was a ruthless karate student-turned-sociopathic-criminal: Kobra. At first he had just murdered gang bangers and drug dealers, but the bloodlust grew, and soon he was robbing and killing like no tomorrow. The police had finally caught up with him, but Kabal and Kira infiltrated the cops and managed to rescue Kobra from them. Kobra whole-heartedly agreed to be apart of the Black Dragon.
Havik decided now was the time and appeared to Kabal. He asked them for a favor. He needed them to go to Outworld and do a small job for him. Kabal agreed, figuring this would be a good test for Kira and Kobra. He told them about it, and so it was that Kabal brought his recruits to Outworld, where they would help Havik in his quest to spread the chaos.
Nightwolf had been haunted lately. His connection with the spirits had been interrupted by visions of Onaga. Nightwolf knew that the Dragon King had returned. He knew he had to be stopped. He must go himself. He asked for the people of his tribe to offer their sins to him. He absorbed their sins, which corrupted his soul. He needed it to enter the Netherealm. There he knew of a spell that would bring Onaga to the depths and trap him there forever. However, the sins have corrupted his soul so much he is unstable. Nightwolf has forced himself into exile until his mission is complete....
The Netherealm was not so calm itself. A demon known as Ashrah lay there, slaying Oni with her purifying Kriss. Ashrah used to be a member of the Brotherhood of Shadow, serving Shinnok and Quan-Chi with her sisters. However, Ashrah refused an order, thus was marked for death. Quan-Chi sent her own sister to slay her. Ashrah has managed to elude them and found a sword that she found purifies her soul. Ashrah's goal is to use the sword to slay as many demons as she can so that her soul will be so purified, she would be forced to leave the Netherealm, thus free. She knows she could escape much faster if she could slay a POWERFUL demon. Someone like.....Noob Saibot. She had no idea where he was (Noob Saibot, along with Smoke, was still trying to build his own army), but knew one day he would come back and then she would kill him, thus freeing her forever.
Raiden was thought to have died once he exploded in his attempt to destroy the Deadly Alliance and Onaga. He found he did the DA, but Onaga was still alive and well. Raiden knew very well why he was brought back with so much power. It was all the fault of Shujinko. Raiden became frustrated. For years, he had tried to protect the Earthrealm and now one of their own puts it in danger? No more! Raiden was frustrated with the mortals, these sinful creatures he had been sent to protect. Now Shujinko goes and puts his own realm in danger....Raiden decided he would take matters into his own hands. He would fight against Onaga, but he would make sure the Earthrealm warriors fought for it as well as he did. If they do not, he will destroy them. No more will he be held down. This time, he is unleashing a wrath like never before, and whoever steps in be damned....
In the midst of all this chaos, Shujinko knows the truth behind it all. They are ALL in grave danger, friend and foe alike. Onaga may be the antagonist, but there is another threat that abounds (the one that Ermac suspects). One that threatens to destroy them all. Somehow, he must make up for his mistake in bringing Onaga his power and unite all of the warriors good and evil to conquer this great atrocity that threatens to swallow them all up.
Thar ya go. Questions? Comments? Sticky for anyone confused about the story. SIDE NOTE: Whatever happens, one thing is certain. The good guys find their way to Onaga by Havik. Havik tells them where he is.

They are seriously overusing the resurrection theme of the game. How many times has a single character died then come back to life in this game. You could count it on the entire world populations combined fingers.
Now, a single ressurection can work wonders ('Buffy' is a perfect example of how bringing back a character just one time can be a great plot element), but when they overuse that element, it screams 'desperate for ideas'.
Johnny Cage, died about three times didnt he? Baraka, died in MK 4? (I never played MK 4 so I cant be sure of that but I did hear), Mileena, died multiple times. Now several main characters (Jax, Kitana, Sonya etc) are all being brought back to life. Uuuuugh, please Midway need to get some fresh ideas once in a while.

list of the dead and ressurected -
Jax - died in MKD, ressurected in MKD
Johnny Cage - died in MK3, ressurected in MK4
died again in MKD, ressurected in MKD
?Kintaro? (they DO say he helped infiltrate Edenia)
This is a wild guess. Maybe he never died?
Kitana - died in MKD, ressurected in MKD
Kung Lao - died in MKD, ressurected in MKD
Liu Kang - died in MKDA, ressurected in MKD
Mileena - died in MK2, ressurected in MK3
Sonya - died in MKD, ressurected in MKD
Sub-Zero V - died in MK1, ressurected in MK2 as Noob Saibot
Onaga - died a long long time ago, ressurected in MKD
Scorpion - died in MKMSZ, ressurected as the spectre we know and love in MKMSZ
Sindel - died a long long time ago, ressurected in MK3
Reiko - died a long time ago, ressurected in MK4. Yeah, they definitely overdid the ressurection thing in MKD. *I added Reiko. He died too.

Add Li Mei to the list. She essentially died when her soul went into that soldier corpse right, and then Bo Rai Cho got it back out again which would equate to ressurection right?? Oh and don't forget Lui Kang... he is now a corpse. A ressurected corpse.. Yep overused. Why kill off a main character in the first place if they want to bring them back!!? Maybe they cant make up their mind who they want dead, then they change their mind and make up a lame ressurection story and think its a great idea. Yeah maybe the first time...

Nah, I don't think Li Mei counts.

this is a cool thred man thanks fer the info

I know this has been mentioned before, but I will try to make a crack of who is controlling Liu Kang's reanimated body.
While I initially thought it was Onaga since he wanted to use all the main heroes of MKDA , it is leaning towards Quani Chi. It can't be possibly Shang Tsung since Liu Kang's spirit was free to meander to Outworld and Kenshi's ancestors reutrned to his sword. My feeling is that Quan Chi escaped Raiden's blast in the nick of time or was severely injured and only had enough power to control Liu Kang's body (though I think that is BS since it would take a good amount of sorcery to control a person's body dead or not). I don't think we have seen the last of Quan Chi. I think he is th new Shang Tsung as the creators IMO might not have wanted Quan CHi killed off right away. Plus it will bring a webring to the characters he has been involved with in the MK saga (i.s. Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Noob Saibot, Ashrah, Sareena, etc).

Your thread is awesome by the way....
I use it a lot ! Thanks !!

Very nice man....being the MK plot junkie that I am, I liked it a lot. You did a good job.
As for the resurrection thingie, yeah, a bit over-used, but I think it was done nicely at this time. The Dragon King at least can be used as a unique explaination as to why characters are getting another shot at life, instead of the same ole "met the elder gods, wasn;t my time yet...back I go..." kinda thing.
I plan on doing a plot outloook based on the endings soon.

I added the fact that Bo Rai Cho got encouraging words from Liu Kang, which motivated him to continue the fight against Baraka's Tarkatans.
And, yes, that is canon because on Bo's bio in the MKD official website. It says that "the battle doesn't go well, but he will receive help from an unexpected source." In Bo's ending, that source is revealed to be Liu Kang.
If anyone's got any questions or opinions, feel free to put em in.

lotta the resurections in Deception are excusable because Onaga can resurect people (which is why his army was undefeatable.) so we dont know who controlled lui kangs body and onaga right? Quan Chi would be a good idea for controlling Lui or maybe a new char (perfect entrance for a new one.) kinda sucks that reptile is gone but they;ll find some way to bring him bak in the future (after he dies as onaga lol)
I think that you can not say that old character from Deadly Alliance are Dead.
Most of them are under arrest. I really believe that they are locked in Dark Prison to not harm Dragon King.
Also, Ermac ending shows every character alive.

Thanks, man. Great summary.

Jax - Onaga's heart has the power to ressurect people. It's the reason his army was undefeatable. Thus he was able to use this same power on Jax to ressurect him.
Johnny Cage - Raiden ressurected Cage. How, I have no idea. It's obvious that Cage has a body now, but did Raiden dig it up and put his soul in it? Did he make him another body? Who knows? But Cage is alive again. Onaga's heart has the power to ressurect people. It's the reason his army was undefeatable. Thus he was able to use this same power on Johnny Cage to ressurect him when he died again.
Kitana - Onaga's heart has the power to ressurect people. It's the reason his army was undefeatable. Thus he was able to use this same power on Kitana to ressurect her.
Kung Lao - Onaga's heart has the power to ressurect people. It's the reason his army was undefeatable. Thus he was able to use this same power on Kung Lao to ressurect him.
Liu Kang - Also can't call it a ressurection. Well, as far as we know (since we know endings are not always canon until the next MK) Liu kang is still dead. He's a spirit separated from his body. He struggles to go inside of his body to reclaim it. He's still a ghost.
Mileena - Mileena's spirit was reborn in the Netherealm (when she died, she was sent to hell), much like Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot and Scorpion. Shao Kahn and Shinnok, in a way, worked together to get her soul out of there and into another body in MK3. (But she ended up getting killed by Kitana in MK3 (her MKG bio says "avenge her own death"). However, she doesn't seem to be a wraith or spectre. Even so, she doesn't seem to be alive or ressurected since her death in MK3, unless Shinnok made a body for her. She could still be a spirit, who knows?
Sonya - Onaga's heart has the power to ressurect people. It's the reason his army was undefeatable. Thus he was able to use this same power on Sonya to ressurect her.
Sub-Zero V/Noob Saibot - well, his wasn't really a ressurection. He's a wraith, meaning he is a ghost that takes the form of what he looked like right as he died. So, like Scorpion, his spirit was reborn in the Netherealm. He's still dead, a ghost.
Onaga - Onaga was reborn through the prophecy. The Great Dragon Egg hatched and the power encased within the Dragon Embryo lanced into Reptile. Using Reptile's body, Onaga was formed once born. In many ways, you can say Onaga's power was in the egg, waiting for a host.
Scorpion - well, his wasn't really a ressurection. He's a spectre, a ghost. He's still dead. I guess we can say his spirit was reborn in the Netherealm, which is MK slang for "he was sent to hell." lol
Sindel - Sindel had her soul transplanted back into her by Shang Tsung. The reason she was evil was cause her soul had been tainted with evil by Shinnok in return for information about where the sacred amulet was hidden.
Reiko - Reiko is still a spirit. He died in Shinnok's war a long time ago with Raiden, but his spirit was reborn in the Netherealm. As far as I know, the man is still dead. So, same as the other characters, not really a ressurection.
Know what I noticed? Evidently, spirits aren't transparent in the MK world. They function just as a human would. They can be touched and hit and everything. Damn, that sucks.
