I just hope for either Sektor or cyborg Smoke. I mean all the ninja fanatics got Ermac and Noob Saibot already, not to mention Scorpion and Sub-Zero, so there's no need for a human Smoke or Rain to come back.
Sektor needs to come back with the Tekunin to go against the Lin Keui and cyborg Smoke needs to come back to assist his friend Sub-Zero, now Grand Master, against the threat of the Tekunin.
I'd really like both of them back (Cyrax too, if he wasn't a gimp for the Special Forces anymore), but if I had to choose only one, then bring back Sektor. His clan and Sub-Zero's can be a real crucial part of the story line. The Tekunin could even side with the Dragon King, given Sektor's evil alliance.

This might sound dumb but i think they should add a new character who is "spanish". He could be like a prince of spain or whatever and like he could have a name such as alfonso. i wouldnt know his purpose but i just think this way so there could be more variety. I dont think there are any hispanic characters in the game or is there?

Yep, the Dragon King has been confirmed as the final boss by Ed Boon in the last PSM.

I also think they are gonna end up with more characters than they planned. In MKDA they didnt have alot of time to create characters and stuff because they were also busy trying to build a new type of game. With better graphics and gameplay. And since they got that down already (arent they using the same stuff they used in MKDA?) they have more time for creating more characters and also adding new gameplay modes to the existing one.

Yeah. Who knows? There might even be 30-35 characters in Mortal Kombat: Deception! That'd be kick ass. I think that Sektor and Mavado might be in there because of their endings (I know that all endings are what ifs but I have a strong hunch that their endings will occur in the storyline.). I wouldn't be surprised if characters who we think might not have a chance of coming back will return.

Wow, I'm pissed if this character information is true. 24 characters is a pretty good number list (and yes, I know there will be secret characters). Just look at MKDA, there were 21 playable characters (not including secret characters which were dumb), and Boon came up with a pretty good list imo. But what makes me mad the most is that not that many of the original classics will be making a return.
Let's look at the facts. There will be 24 playables, and 8 of them are completely new. MKDA had 8 new characters which is a very good size. But when I read that only 6 are coming from MKDA, this makes me angry. No matter if that 6 cosists of classics that were a part of MKDA (like Subby and Scropion) or not, there can't be that many original classics from MK1 and MK2 that were a part of MKDA, which were for the most part the characters that made MK what it is today. So Midway rather create new characters and strip majority of the great classic characters away?! What the hell is going on. More new characters in MKD than from the entire MKDA roster including all those great classics?!? Uh...
Right now, there are 7 classic characters that were not a part of MKDA. If that 10 amount is correct, there will be 3 more classic characters that were not of part of MKDA making a return! That's awesome especially with the amount of kickass classics that Midway are making a return like Baraka, Mileena, Ermac, and Kabal. But then again, why 6 from MKDA? Scropion and Subzero of course will be in the game, and Kenshi has been shown (but I have this feeling he won't be in game b/c of Ermac and b/c of lack of MKDA playas). Mavado, who is undoubtely my favorite newcomer from MKDA, probably won't make a return because of Kabal and lack of MKDA guys returning. They can easily say he died from his second clash with returning Kabal. Li Mei is also out I bet b/c of Milenna and say goodbye to the ultra cool Frost b/c why do you need her when you got grandmaster Sub-zero? :( Then you got classic MK1+MK2 characters like Raiden, Kung Lao, Shang Tsung, Kano, Reptile, Kitana, Cage, and Jax. They were already in MKDA, why or why Midway shall you take them out?! MK without Shang Tsung or Raiden?!? That's like MK without Scropion or Subzero! I know some will make a return but it looks like MKD will be featuring characters that were not a part of MKDA. :( This doesn't make sense, especially since they've got the characters move and models from the previous game, and Boon and Company know many of them are fan-favorites back from the arcade days! Maybe just maybe, Midway is deceiving us into believing only a few from their previous game will return but once we unlock everything, we'll learn that this is far from true when the game reveales many from MKDA cast return along with a bunch of new and other classic charaters! Oh man!!! ;) Make sure Midway to give me Kahn and a Centaur or Shokan, ;).
And I know everyone is saying it is not confirmed, but it looks like Quan Chi and Kitana are a part of the roster? Why? Just read the dang PSM article. It states these chess players will enter a 1 on 1 battle which is not unlike the regular game. And they are both shown, so... But they may be placeholders (like I think Kenshi is) so who knows... Oh yeah, don't count on Smoke (maybe as a secret though!) or Bo Rai Cho as playable because they were sktches. Remember, Goro was sketched to be in his throne room from MKDA, but clearly he was no where to be found. :(
Oh yeah, Shao Kahn will most likely make an apperance, probably as a secret character! Also bring back a Shokan or a Centuar Boon, please! :)
Could someone from the MKOnline team ask an "unannamous source from Midway" about this? ;)

After re-reading the Fight Night chat with the MK team, a few things sprung to my mind. Shao Kahn and Smoke will be back, as classic MK combatants of course. They may be secret characters but I'm sure they'll be somewhere in there. And Reptile will not be one of the 6 MKDA characters in the game, but will be represented as the boss of MKD, Dragon King. Just my two cents, heh.

The name of the game is Deception. I'm betting there will be lots of tidbits that get "leaked" and aren't true, including more than 24 characters. Look at the hype just that one line about the number of characters is creating.
Think about it: why make a load of new characters for your first 3D engine just to toss them out and make new ones? MK:DA proved that MK could work in 3D, so now it saves them time to tweak the existing characters, and add the gameplay modes they wanted but never could because they were building a new engine. I'd count on more than 24 characters.
And now that PS2 and XBox both have hard drives, there's always the possibility of downloadable characters, which would be another reason why a Gamecube version hasn't been announced as of yet.....

The sketch of the Ninja in that PSM article couldn't possibly be Smoke. Smoke is a cyborg, his human body is done away with. Yes, he still has a human soul, but for Smoke to come back as a human doesn't make sense.
My speculation is that the ninja we see is probably just Noob Saibot shaded lighter so its not just a black blotch.

As much as i love smoke, I don't think he should be in a MK game in a long time. It seems like Boon erased him from Mk permanetely. Smoke is known as someone who is in the shadows, and is on his own. He doesnt have much of a story anymore either. For all we know, his robotic body is probably in a junkyard in Japan in the Mk world. If he does return, he will definitly be a cyber ninja. I wouldnt want him as a ninja because Boon would probably give him cheesy moves. I don't think he will be in MKD

One would have to assume that atleast 1 Special Forces character will be in the game.
They were a foundation part to the original game and have always been there. I can't see a MK game without them being involved.
With Sindel in the game, another assumption would be that either Kitana or Shao Kahn would have to be in the game.
