Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat and Lead Programmer for Mortal Kombat: Deception made an appearance on G4 earlier on in the week.
While on G4's show, "Electric Playground", Ed Boon has confirmed 3 new characters (Sektor, Smoke, and Kabal), and 1 new arena (The Living Forest). Kabal's look will be completely revamped, and the two cyber-ninjas will sport quite a different look from Deadly Alliance's Cyrax.

I really hope that a couple of those characters aren't in the main game... like Bo' Rai Cho... I know that he is in the chess game, but I thought he was pretty much useless in MK:DA... It's like Midway had a group meeting about new characters: "OK, lets see... well i'ma bring this back to the character selection for a second....
blaze and mokap werent on the selection screen, u had to hold down on raiden and cyrax once u unlocked them....so obviously you'll have to do something like that in MKD since boon said not all the characters are on the main character selection screen

How many times do i hav to say it, I don't WANT to believe that Drahmin is isn the game, and neither did i sa that he is good...
I only saw his mask and that's enough proof for me (at the moment that is), and I really do hope he's not in the game, but what can i help it if I SEE HIS MASK???
And I know that the character-select screen isn#t everything but it would mean that he's in the game in the alpha-version...
And yes, I agree, Drahmin was sort of dull in MKDA...

No that select screen you see is the E3 model its not the confirmed select screen. Boon said that they were gonna redue it and add all the other spots for characters.

ummmmm...hello I'm new here. are Sonya, Kung Lao and Johnny Cage not gonna be in Deception?

I just hope Drahmin is in there so that I can kick his ass a couple of times with Scorpion what what he did to him in DA.

I also hope that Sonya is featured in MKD, I hear that it would be online and I would need the player I'm most familiar with, and plus I kick major ass with her in MKDA.
But if she isn't there I would have to live with it. And the fact that Kitana may also not be there is a blow to me too, because she's my alternate character...
But hey I think that even though they won't be there, shouldn't be to bad. The creators are giving you a chance to learn new players I must say that I'm looking forward to the new players featured. I'm 100% sure that this game will be one awesome one. I can't wait for it to come out.

whoa, simmer down, lol... first off: i agree that Li Mei shouldn't be in the game, she was essentially a Mileena rip-off, but just because a person dies (even in their own ending) doesn't mean that they officially die, or if they do die that they stay dead. And if you took every character that died in every ending that was NOT canon, then you'd have to see all those MK3 characters you dislike so much.
BTW, couldn't tell if you knew this, Liu Kang is back as a ghost/zombie. So if Raiden were to die in the opening (I haven't heard any such rumor) what's to stop Boon/Vogel from bringing him back? Thus, it wouldn't really be a surprise or shock at all if he died.
And like i said earlier, just because a character dies (even in their own ending) doesn't mean they stay dead or die officially. If that were true, than your beloved Kung Lao's ass would be pushing up daisies (check his MK3 ending)
then there's smoke... has it been confirmed whether smoke's a ninja or cyborg? well if he's a cyborg, then that means there will be 3 cyborgs in the game (i believe i heard that Sektor is confirmed) and 4 ninjas. wow, that means there is a whole 1 more ninja than cyborgs... that's just too many *if my sarcasm doesn't hurt you by now, you're pretty thick*... at least the ninjas don't all look alike now
why the hell do you want smoke back anywaze? he started of as a rip-off grey scorpion (another ninja I might add) and then became a rip-off purplish-grey robot... still with a spear
and if you're going by your 'senority rules' policy like with Kitana and Sonya, then how exactly should the Mili-vanili of MK rock Sub-Zero (who's been in every MK if you count his brother and even had a decent game of his own)?? And even if you don't count MK1 and Mythologys, Sub still appears more than Smoke

DA they were both in from the start (both unlockable characters)... now depending on how you tally those, they either tie for game appearances, or Cyrax has Princess K beat by 1

I think after Scorpion had his body destroyed in MK:DA he might return in new and better form. His target would be to kill whatever turned out from Drahmin and Quan Chi.
Subzero might find his long lost friend Smoke, and take him back into Lin Kuei.

Actually, Jaybe2K4 you got something wrong. I don't see how Cyrax beats Kitana by one. Let's see:
Kitana was in MK2, UMK3, MK3T, MK4 (after you patched the game), MK4G, and MK:DA. That is if you want to count the upgrades as different games.
Now, Cyrax was in MK3, UMK3, MK3T, MK4G and MD:DA (his model was in MK4 Enahanced, but it was Jax' moves, so it doesn't count).
6:5 for Kitana.
And if we count the games in a more general way:
Ktana: MK2, MK4, MK:DA
Cyrax: MK3, MK:DA. (Excluding MK GOLD, because it's an upgrade, just like UMK3 and MK Trilogy)
So, either way you count it Kitana always gets one score up.
