Or, it will be in October. lol

I realized this when I was looking up the soundtrack for the game, and I came across a very familiar URL. The site's still up! grin

Also, I came across this in the Arenas section of the site. I'm probably late, but does anyone know what this code refers to?

Anyhoo, Mortal Kombat Deception is one of my favorite games in the series, so it pleases me that the site hasn't been taken down. However, I also feel very old, considering the game will reach its ten-year mark in October.

But I'm SO happy! grin

Jesus, TEN years old already. And we're all ten years older.

I feel like crying right now.

Boy howdy, there's nothing quite like the ol' "Hey, did you realize thing-X happened a whole decade ago?" to remind a person of their slow, steady march towards the grave.

I have so fond memories of that game, even though I didn't even get to play as Goro and the Emperor in my version. Maybe one should buy a PSP to unchain the portable version. I will congratulate in the actual launch day.
P.S. "Unchained" is a reference to the lack of wires.

It is amazing that MK: Deception is 10 years old. I still have the game, but I haven't played it in ages. In some ways, it's still one of my favorite games. Sure, it had a number of significant flaws, mainly in the gameplay mechanics. However, the overall ambiance and content of the game were good. I just wished that the main story wasn't centered around an Idiot Plot and that Onaga was a more menacing boss when you actually fought him. He came off as menacing in the intro, but his stupid roaring in the actual boss fight was definitely off.

Well, one of the games that spent the most inside my PS2. Fond memories and happy days. It was a thrilling experience for me (Middle Intermediate School AKA 8th grade ). Konquest was one of the best fan services I have ever seen. The atmosphere was just perfect for me.

Oh well, Thnx to MK team and MK community.

I wanna play Konquest now :( I don't think Konquest or an Adventure mode is every making a come back.

A spiritual successor to Shaolin Monks maybe...

I loved Deception; in fact it's what made me really get into M.K. Before that Mortal Kombat was the arcade game I played at the pizza joint. After Deception, it was a series that I sought out.

Also, I loved Deception's art style. In my opinion, some of the best costumes in all of Mortal Kombat were in Deception.

I very much agree.

If nothing else, they definitely took their time with the costumes of that game. You can still see elements of those costumes in characters today, like Mileena, Ermac, Jade, and Baraka. Bo' Rai Cho even dons his Deception primary costume in Liu Kang's vinette.

Deception really was a visually beautiful game.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I really liked the Shredder costume for Sub-Zero. Not that I'd like the look to be revisited, but I think it gave Subby a sense of authority with the costume. That helmet is something I would imagine the Grand Master of the Lin Kuei wearing.

Oh, I loved that costume too, and the alt despite the pony tail. I loved the fact that the differentiation between Scorpion and Sub-Zero was extremely pronounced in Deception.

MK:D was pretty much the only decent entry in the 3D MK "canon". DA was crude and characters with "stab" specials were overpowered, and MK:A was the epitome of a slop-job. Cannibalized move lists and a "create-a-fatality" which removed all individuality from finishers. It just seems like they didn't want to make finishing moves for all the characters.

Story time!

Deception came out literally the day before my birthday October 4th 2004, so I was very lucky. I remember coming home from school, I was in 8th grade at that time, and my dad surprising me with it. I nearly slobbered all over that beautiful cover. I wanted nothing more than to put it in the ole' Xbox and start gaming, but sadly my dad forced me to go to this lame "youth group" outing that was like a million miles away. So I spent the entire evening thinking of nothing but Deception, thinking about finally playing it and all the months I had spent reading posts on MKO, the speculations, the hype ect Finally it was all coming to a head.

I got home around 9ish I believe and finally loaded it up. Watched the amazing opening movie and then immediately selected my fighter. If memory serves the first character I selected was Nightwolf! The first arena I fought in I think was the Neathership Interior.

I played this obsessively back in the day. It got to when my day pretty much consisted of playing Deception (and replaying Deadly Alliance) and lurking this website. I first made this account when I was a teenager, but I've never posted. This anniversary made me remember my 8 year old password and write some words for this forum!

Been playing Unchained on my Vita. I just bought it recently. I never got to play it back in the day. Really good stuff. It feels like I never really stopped playing it.

I was in middle school when this came out. Now I am a grown-ass man with adult-like responsibilities... No fun at all... 10 years ago is too far back...

I got deception for my birthday when it was released in November of 2004 in my country. Definitely my favorite of the 3D MK games and runs MK2 pretty close for my all time fave. I really miss Konquest mode.
This game and Deadly Alliance both need to be rereleased on PSN and its Xbox equivalent. Cmon NRS! Make it happen!

MKDA was the game that really introduced me to expansive lore of MK. I rented it one day from blockbuster. Loved it and was doing a bit of research on it before I bought it and discovered Deception was releasing in just a few months.

It is still probably my favorite MK. I loved exploring the different realms in Konquest (just wish there was more to do and see, I'd kill for an open realm MK spinoff). I liked MK Chess, Puzzle was okay.

I loved how well MKDA set up Deception's main plot. It still saddens me we never got an awesome cgi ending to Deception like we got to Deadly Alliance. It was kinda neat seeing the armies charge each other in Armageddon, but I would've liked to see the fight with Ermac taking on the resurrected heroes, witnessing Shujinko take out Onaga with Nightwolf's help.

Deadly Alliance ended on such a sombre note, would've been cool to see the heroes work together like that to defeat Onaga.

That game had crazy replayability to me. I love starting over from scratch and going through Konquest to discover all the Krypt Keys and doing all the side quests. Beating the game with everyone to obtain their endings. While MK9's krypt was more gross, I though Deception was still the best. It teased some of the characters who weren't in the game, but also maintained a creepy feeling.

Like others, it is the creative high point of the series, MKDA, and MKD had some great design choices. Armageddon did a decent job for the characters who didn't appear in either MKDA or MKD.

Wow it's almost been ten years that's just crazy to think that ten years have flown by, feels like just yesterday Deception was brand new. Time certainly does fly doesn't it.

Can't believe it's been 10 years. I loved Deception even though it had some flaws like a weird roster (I missed Kitana badly, none of those newbies was worthy or her spot), repeating arcade ladders with some arena never appearing in the mode (don't remember which one) etc. Still a great game overall, I miss those times.

after MKX's story mode left me flat (MKX is still a great game though) I decided to pick up deception again its been 10 years since I did that Konquest mode lol, The gameplay wasn't as good but I have some serious nostalgia for the 3d era.
