This to me feels more of a DC game with MK characters.

I only just got around to seeing the vids (on YouTube), but I thought it's worth commending DArqueBishop for his efforts!
I think in the past through Fight Nights and whatnot, MKO's been accused of being a little disorganized, soft, and misdirected.

Despite some awkwardness I thought you did a great job to get to the kinds of responses fans like me wanted to hear. Nice work!

Seeing the interviews have made me feel...slightly better. I remain in the bad idea camp until i'm swayed to move over the fence.

No fatals, may or may not be cannon, t rating.....bad start.

I guess it was mostly press on the day, so they're bound to serve a reasonably palatable response (particularly given Midway's recent indescretions with certain groups).
Mind you, for a series with such longevity in the American market, that was a pretty quiet response, I thought. A lot of other franchise previews have seen roaring punctuation on every beat of info. It seemed cordial, if not pleased. Hardly the booming response of a Starcraft, or something, though.
(Not that that's a fair comparison, I guess...)

It was interesting.
I think the inflection of my own negativity meant I was half expecting an echoed boo where the delay in response was (for the logos). tongue

i agree with ya, mick-lucifer. beleive me i understand the mk fan sites, including this one, and the press cannot just say what they are thinking or else they risk losing getting exclusive info, media content, interviews, etc. look at egm, if you tell the truth about something midway has a hissy fit and will ban ya. however, if i was there as a guest journalist my interview with boon would have assured i would never get one again ;)

First of all, Im suprised that there are so little responses in this thread..the announcement thread is zillion pages long..but the thread conceiving a trailer with actual gameplay footage and an interview is only 2 pages long. I guess a lot of fans are still recovering. :D

The Interview;
Nice job on the interview. Glad you started with the WHY? question.

But to be honest I don't find Boons answer(s) satisfying. He doesn't really say anything..just a couple of "wanna wipe the state clean" or "thinking bout plusses and minusses". instead of naming those plusses and minusses and telling what were the deciding factors. But when he started about the marketing departments of DC and midway that starting the idea...well..

And that wanna do something totally different story is also played out. He tells about other fighting games doing non significant adjustments and that's why thei sales fall off. First of all
- Sales is important, yes, but that doensn't means a good selling game is better of worse. It shocks me that he started about sales. Which games does he mean? Soul Caliber? Virtua Fighter? Correct me if I'm wrong but arent those games better then MK.

- Second, Midway has been doing the same thing, except in a horizontal way. They added fighting styles, weapon based combat, etc. Now they replaced it with inclose combat, falling in the air combat ( I dont know how I should call it). After the next couple of games, they are going to wipe the state clean again and there we go again.

Has the "dramaticly" changes resulted in a good MK so far. No. So if they wanna do something different. They should think about creating things like a fighting engine that doesn't needs to be erased every time so it can provide a solid ground for future MK's.

In overall, Boons answers don't sound good. Also it sounds like he doesn't know or has much too say. Not even about where HIS game is (or where he wants it to be )headed...since he is the (co)creator.

THE TRAILER:
I like the settings and overall atmosphere. Indeed dark and gritty. I hope they will keep this up. Gameplay wise, well I can't say much. Not enuff footage for me. The close combat looked nice, the air combat looked nice. But exept these bonusses..it gave me a "more of the same" feel. I'm curious how they changed the basic fighting engine. Looks like e3, when a demo is playable, is going to give us this info.

i think there are some people who will remain loyal to something no matter what, no matter how obviously bad it looks. unfortunately for me, this is the end of mk for now for me. mka was a big let down in gameplay for me and most characters played the same so it did not even feel like 60 fighters were in the game. i let it slide cuz i figured it was just an attempt to squeeze out a few more bucks before a next gen revamp. we got a ravamp, alright, a nice kiddie comic revamp. the mature nature of mk has always been its big appeal and its saving grace but not any more. they should have made a seperate game just for dc characters instead of making this awkward, not cool, laughable mess of a game. the trailer was not impressive in any way. it would slightly help if they used a cooler version of batman instead of the lame gray tights batman. either way, lame lame lame. they should have gone the sc4 route and just made batman and another dc character or two guest fighters if they wanted.

the fact boon knows there would be a backlash from fans but he still went ahead anyways for the sake of getting some dc cash contracts shows he could give a shit less about fans, the fans that made him all his money. or...i could be one of the few who thinks dc comics are lame but everyone else thinks they are awesome. to each their own, i guess. at least now i can focus entirely on sc4 now that mk8 is massive letdown.

I 100% agree with you. Do you have a 360? Because if you do I will play you online once SC4 comes out.
