The pic is good, but I too would have gone with the pale shade. Although the darker tone does give the impression that he's aged/decayed for the most part, which makes sense. Nice.

Those eyes remind me of Micheal Jackson's Thriller Video.

I have a suggestion to make it better. First change his skin to a greyish blue tone. Then give him blood red eyes, a scar across his face and blood trikling down his forehead and out of his mouth, like he just ate somebody.
