Quite frankly, I like the Queen of the Netherrealm angle better. Noob is no longer a slave of Shinnok or Quan Chi. He now directly opposes them both by trying to take over Shinnok's domain. Noob should definitely survive to move onto the next generation. I think it would be cool if Sareena hooked up with him, Noob needs some love, too. Who better to hook up with him? She would probably want to help Noob remember who he once was. She would empathize for Noob's situation, as she once unwillingly served the Brotherhood of Shadow as well. Now, that Noob is free from Shinnok's posession, his options are open. Surely he doesn't just want to rule the Netherrealm, I don't think he's interested in ruling anything. The part that interests Noob is conquering. Not out of anger or revenge, but to prove to himself just how cold and efficient he really is. He's not really good or evil, he just likes being what he is. He takes pride in his abilities as a stealthful assassin. He has no real grudge with anyone, he is above petty grudges.

He has found an ally in Smoke, albeit an unwilling one and that will ultimately lead to betrayal. Suppose when Sub Zero follows him into the Netherrealm, he doesn't kill him. Instead, Sub-Zero convinces Smoke to come back to his senses and turn on Noob. In the process, Noob is not only defeated (not killed) but he begins to reallize who he once was. He goes mad with self doubt and doubles his efforts in trying to conquer the Netherrealm.

Enter Sareena. Noob encounters her and finally remembers her. Despite the fact that he is in denial of who he once was and who he's become, he is intrigued by what she represents to him, a shard of his former life, one of the only good things about it. Noob still only has bits and pieces of his memories, though. In allying with Sareena, he hopes to learn more about who he once was. He is very conflicted, confused and tormented. Part of him wants to conquer the Netherrealm and eventually all of the realms. Part of him still loves Sareena and wants to become more like he once was.

That;'s all I can think of for now, it's open for disussion. I guess this has turned inot a pro-Noob rant but I can't help but stand up for him. There is a lot of Noob hating going around and a lot of people seem to want him dead. I, owever, feel he has a lot of potential and that Sareena could be a very big element in his story.

I'll admit I haven't really been interested in Sareena. Probably down to her hideous design but I must say her story is very interesting and she could prove to be a very cool character in this generation and next genereation. A connection with Ashrah would be fantastic and she is a wild card with only one enemy who as far as we can tell doesn't even know she's after her. So not only to boost Sareena's storyline but Ashrah's as well.

I agree that if Sareena betray Sub-Zero would be very obvious. And not much original since he was already betrayed by Frost not long time ago.
But this post will be focused in her connection with Ashrah, mostly because the demon huntress is one of my favorites.

I don't think that Quan Chi had many assassins. Maybe only Sareena, Kia, Jataaka and Ashrah. If so, the "sisters" that Ashrah mentioned in her MKD bio are them. Then, for some reason, Ashrah turned against Quan Chi and he sent one of them to kill her. We all know that Ashrah is still alive and that Quan Chi isn't worried to slay her anymore. I don't think that the sorcerer would be so lenient with someone who betrayed him.

Maybe the assassin that he sent to slay Ashrah was Sareena. Knowing that Sareena would like to escape from the Netherrealm, Ashrah made a deal with her: Sareena would let Ashrah escape and, if she discover a way to go out from the Netherrealm, she would come back to help her do the same. Sareena agrees with Ashrah's terms and then she lies to Quan Chi saying that Ashrah is dead.

Then, Ashrah found the Kriss and started her quest to purify her soul. She tries to inform Sareena about this weapon, but she wasn't able to talk to her. Suspecting of Sareena's loyalty to him, Quan Chi ordered Kia and Jataaka to watch her. Don't wanting to cause trouble for Sareena and for herself, Ashrah continued her way hoping good lucky for Sareena.

Much later, Sareena discover another way to free herself from the Netherrealm in Sub-Zero. But she was sent to the 5th Plane of the Netherealm instead.

Now, in Armageddon, they would cross paths again. I would prefer to see them being allies and try slay Noob Saibot or even team up agains Quan Chi. Anyway, I would like to see both in the next generation.

I do see where you're coming from, and I would like to see the potential of characters like her to be utilized and all that.

I think it's best that she sticks with the Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot conflict that'll eventually come up in this game. I would like to see her in future MK games as well.

I think that due to the way MKA is, she'll definitely be one of the characters that will suffer in terms of story.

Yeah, I agree but then again this is the MK Team we're talking about so of course they'll go the cliche/painfully obvious route when it comes to storylines. I hope Vogel or whoever else is helping him with this stuff is on track for this game storyline wise but then I just can't help but remember the abomination that was Shaolin Monks so.. I don't know.

Great thread though.

I love this. These are pretty good ideas. However, the folks at Midway aren't above the cliche, and based on Shujinko, love gullible heroes who are tricked easily. Look at the second half of Sareena's MK:TE ending. What is the expression on her face? Evil Grin. Or maybe Sub-Zero made a somewhat funny joke from 20 feet behind her.

Don't get me wrong, you're ideas are perfect. I just don't believe Midways smart enough to take anything but the simple solution.

Another problem for Sareena and Sub-Zero is Raiden. Obviously, demons from the Netherrealm would likely piss off old Shocky. Maybe Sub-Zero could talk Raiden into being reasonable pre-Deadly Alliance, but know, Raiden has apparently taken it upon himself to make Earthrealm STAY safe, even if it means grinding the mortals underneath his heel. How do you think he'd react if he knew Sub-Zero was aiding and abetting not only a demon, but one of Quan Chi's elite? Now, Sub-Zero might have to take his new Lin Kuei and leave Earth, to avoid having Raiden smite them. Good thing Subbie found that frozen tomb of his ancestors, right? I'm sure that'd make a kick ass new home for the LK.

Really, then we have to account for Sub-Zero. He's by all accounts a great guy, but how much can he take? His best friend was turned into a killbot, his brother's currently a vengeful, inhuman wraith, he forgave Frost's betrayal, thinking she died, and all that. So now, his best friend's the lackey of his evil brother, Frost's not dead yet, Sektor's got a posse, and to top it all off, his one time archenemy (And the murderer of his Brother) is now the Champion of the Elder gods. A man can only take so much before losing it, and right now, keeping a Netherrealm demon as a friend might be a sign that Sub-Zero might be getting desperate.

That said, I can see Scorpion aiding Sareena. Both are Hellbound souls that have an axe to grind with Quan Chi. Even if Raiden, Quan Chi, and Noob are against her, Sareena could potentially ally with someone the Elder Gods have chosen to kick ass for them.

That said, here's another idea, not just for Sareena, but for a possible explanation for how Jarek, Motaro, Hsu Hao, and all the dead evil guys are coming back. Sareena's managed to get out of Hell, through that portal Quan Chi opened, correct? This possibly happened some time after QC, Scorp, and the Oni Pair went through. Well, has it been closed? If not, word could travel. The warriors could've followed them through it.

Sareena hoping she could bring the "Sub-Zero" back out of Noob Saibot could be interesting, but I question Noob's feelings on Sareena if any. The impression I've gotten is he's embraced the evil inside him and allowed himself to become a emotionless wraith. So with that in mind, I don't see him being very romantic.
But like you said, perhaps seeing Sareena could spark something inside him that'll make him want to go back. But like you said, that's more of a Noob Saibot discussion. There's another point of view to consider...say seeing Sareena does make Noob remember his old life and he decides she should be eliminated along with his brother to destroy all traces of his past life. She could just find herself a target.
That would make Sareena's choice on who's side to join a little easier, I think.

Good theory on Sareena and Ashrah's history and I can see them aligning with one another since they share similar goals and both have the same enemies, more or less. I would like to see them team, even if they have a brief fight before hand.

This is another potential possibility that can only add more interesting conflicts. If Raiden's zero tolerence policy decides that a Demon like Sareena is unworthy, it could lead to interesting problems for her and Sub-Zero. It might not be a factor in Armageddon, but if we see Raiden continuing down the looney path in the next gen it could be cool.

Sub-Zero's desperation for an ally is interesting, although I'm not sure if it could work seeing as he's still on good terms with the other Earth warriors and he just gained an ally in Kenshi.
But nevertheless, I think it's more reason for Sareena to stay on his side. I think it'd be cool if, out of everyone Sub-Zero's counted on and trusted, the one to stand by him was this Demon chick...who's still a danger to him anyway.
And that way, it keeps weight on Sareena's side of the story. Like say she is only using him and planning on betraying him, then...yay...yet another enemy for Sub-Zero to deal with. However if she sticks with him, despite this risk she represents...it becomes not just "How will Sub-Zero deal with danger to him" but it also becomes "How can Sareena deal with it." It brings more weight to both sides of the story.

Godzilla Wrote:That said, I can see Scorpion aiding Sareena. Both are Hellbound souls that have an axe to grind with Quan Chi. Even if Raiden, Quan Chi, and Noob are against her, Sareena could potentially ally with someone the Elder Gods have chosen to kick ass for them.

I could see this too. Sareena has a grudge against Quan Chi and issues with Noob Saibot. An alliance or interaction with Scorpion is possible. It depends more on what they have Scorpion do and how deeply he ghets involved with the story. They could go the shallow route and just have Scorpion kill Quan Chi and be on his way, the end. Or, they can have him actually interact with other characters and react to the situation...which I think would benefit his story.
You make a good point with the Elder Gods, too. Going back to my suggestion that Sareena wants to be human, getting on the Elder Gods' good side would possibly be a good choice.

I know and that is a major concern for me. This is the downside for the MK team to suddenly decide to wrap everything up right now in one game. Like I said, I doubt the MK team is going to fit everything I mentioned into Armageddon, but I just hope they at least are aware that Sareena can very easily be much more than a simple throw-away filler character.

Before I get started, whenever you see the word "revenge" in most post, in all caps, and followed by an exclamation point, imagine Ed Boon saying that in his "GET OVER HERE!" voice, to get the full effect. About the Scorpion angle, I do hope to see him change a bit in future MKs (This'll be a Scorpion rant, so hang on). He's my favorite character, but personally, he's getting somewhat stale. What is is motivation?
MK1-REVENGE!
MK2-REVENGE!
MKT-REVE-oh. I'm just standing around here. What's that big, skull-mask guy? Join you're army to destroy Earth? Sure! Wait, Subbie's against you. Sorry man, I gotta resign...
MK4-Ressurection... proceeded by REVENGE!
MKDA-REVENGE!
MKD-Whoops, guess my REVENGE! was preempted by Onaga. Guess I'll talk to these Elder God guys. Okay, now I'm going to go kick Onaga's ass... FOR GREAT JUSTICE!
MKA-Quan Chi's back?! Woohoo! Another shot at REVENGE!

Seriously. He's always been a badass, but a vengeance crazed spectre who still hasn't gotten his revenge after 6 games is kinda lame. That's what I like about his "Champion of the Elder Gods" status. It gives him something to do, aside from revenge.

Seriously, I'd have him either kill Quan Chi, or royally fuck up the badguys plans in MKA, just to sate his desire for revenge (At least for a while). Afterwards, he has dozens of possibilities.

Does his actions as Elder God's champion redeem his soul? If so, then what? Is he alive again? In heaven? With his family? Does he still work for the gods, assuming they survive Armageddon? That could lead to a myriad of possibilities itself.

If not, then he's back to Hell. Which might be ruled by a certain Lin Kuei Wraith he killed way back when. Not good for Scorpy. That could lead him to try to escape, or lead to another confrontation with Noob Saibot. Or it could lead to him trying to get the kriss.

Another interesting topic is the price he paid to be a spectre in the first place. In his MK1 ending, it's said that Scorpion lost virtually all knowledge of his mortal life when he was allowed to kill the elder Sub-Zero. That includes any knowledge of his wife and child, aside from that he had a wife and child. Maybe, once he gets his vengeance, he realizes that in his hatred, he literally lost everything he cared about, and his sole motivation for revenge (his family). That could lead to him struggling to reclaim what he lost.

Point is, I'm somewhat tired of Scorpion only being involved with characters he's seeking REVENGE! against. I just think that he should actually pick a side next time, instead of bordering in the middle, looking to kill whoever pissed him off as stated by his bio. Basically, all the characters have grown in some form or another, but my personal favorite has had pretty much the same reason for fighting since day one.

Goddamn XD84, never fail to amaze me. Can't shake the notion that this is speculation out of my head. The day Midway realizes the potential of your stories will be a great day for MK fans. Honestly though as much as I think Sareena has potential I doubt she'll make the cut to next-gen, which is sad because she hasn't been developed properly.

Anyway, I appreciate that you take the time to analyze all aspects of the story and potential decisions that characters have to make, really attempting to get inside their heads to rationalize some coherent and well thought out ideas. I could read Reiko Sareena mythologies and chain smoke butts all day, but the story really could go anywhere until October. Cheers!
Sareena makes cheesechake now...? Hmm, must not type parody... oh the hell with it! Only I can make comedic things! wink

(Sareena is in the pose of the picture when Scorpion and Sub-Zero enter)

Sub-Zero: Um... what are you doing?

Scorpion: Obviously she is advertising that cheesechake with her sexually attractive body.

Sub-Zero: Yeah, I've noticed that...

Scorpion: Anyway, we're here on another tour, asking MK characters about what they want their stories to be like in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

Sub-Zero: We were...?

Scorpion: Yeah, we are now.

Sub-Zero: (sarcastic) Great...

Scorpion: Go ahead, Sareena.

Sareena: Okay... but first, you must eat this cheesecake if you want me to give info.

Sub-Zero: ...What? Why should we do that? We can just read that big long post at the top...

Sareena: (grabs him by the vest and sneers) You'll eat it and you will LIKE it. I didn't spend 4 hours pouring my SOUL into it for it to go to waste.

Sub-Zero: (disturbed) Well then... be sure to wash your hands. And it took you 4 hours to make that little piece of crap?

Sareena: (ashamed) Well yes... I mean, I... well, it was difficult... that’s all... that damn oven... never used it before in my life.

Scorpion: I’ll eat it.

Sub-Zero: You?

Scorpion: Yeah, me. Why?

Sub-Zero: Because you’re just a skeleton...

Scorpion: Your point being?

Sub-Zero: You’re a skeleton! You can’t digest any sort of food or drink!

Scorpion: Ha! Please... I can do it.

Sub-Zero: Really? Explain how.

Scorpion: Simple... because I’m a bigger badass than you and you know it!

Sub-Zero: ...What?

Scorpion: Yep, you’ve lost this argument.

Sub-Zero: That had nothing to do with the context of what I said.

Scorpion: Now then, I’ll try to eat this thing, give it to me... (threateningly) Give it to me or I will enjoy watching the flesh BURN off your bones!

Sareena: (disturbed) Geez... (hands it to him)

(Scorpion examines the cake and after a minute, he throws it into Sub-Zero’s face.)

Scorpion: That was great. Give me another one.

Sareena: No! Not if you’re going to throw it in other people’s faces. I made it for people to eat not start food fights.

Scorpion: Well, too bad. I am only a skeleton, I can’t eat.

Sub-Zero: (wiping the cheesecake off his face) I’ve told you that... many other times... but you ignore me...

Scorpion: Don’t worry... I’ll make another one.

Sareena: (surprised) You will?

Sub-Zero: (horrified) Oh no...

Sareena: Do you ever know how?

Scorpion: I’m sure it’s not too hard...

Sub-Zero: (looks around for the nearest exit) Um... I think I hear my... Lin Kuei students calling, better not be late or they’ll start a... strike or something...

(Sub-Zero tries to run out, but Scorpion reels back in with his spear.)

Scorpion: Now then, give me the ingredients to make this stupid thing... Cheesecake is never going to match Pumpkin Pie in terms of deliciousness. Say that now...

Sareena: Well, I...

Scorpion: (screaming) NOW!

Sareena: (freaked out) Um... Pumpkin Pie is better...

Scorpion: (very calm) Thank you.

(Scorpion takes all the cake ingredients and takes them outside.)

Sub-Zero: Why are you taking them outside...?

(Scorpion begins putting them on the grill)

Sub-Zero: The grill!? Oh, for the love of... Scorpion, you can’t bake a cake on a grill...

Scorpion: Watch me.

Sub-Zero: (to Sareena) Don’t let this deceive you... he really IS that stupid... although actually so is just about every other Mortal Kombat character.

Sareena: Shut up, Scorpion’s a badass and you’re not, so what room do you have to talk?

Sub-Zero: ...What?

Scorpion: (turns on the gasoline all the way and begins taking off his ninja mask)

Sub-Zero: (thinking) Hold on a sec, gasoline plus Scorpion’s flame equals... (out loud, irritated) Oh, you stupid son of a...!

(But it’s too late, Scorpion uses his flame breath which causes an explosion that engulfs the entire area. Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Sareena lie on the ground, covered in soot.)

Scorpion: All right! I have completed my own cheesecake! (he holds it up, it actually looks well made)

Sub-Zero: (surprised) What the...? That’s just... illogical in every sense of the word.... No way he could’ve made a cake like that.

Sareena: (sits up) Because he’s cool and you’re not.

Sub-Zero: I thought you hated him...
Sareena: I did, but hey, who can hate Scorpion for very long?

Sub-Zero: Me.

(Scorpion walks over to them.)

Scorpion: Well, I think we’ve all learned a meaningful lesson today...

Sub-Zero: What?

Scorpion: That making a cheesecake with your grill can lead to satisfying results.

Sub-Zero: You talking about the explosion or the fact that the cake miraculously came out fine?

Scorpion: Both.

(Sareena stands up, but Sub-Zero doesn’t.)

Sub-Zero: You know guys, I think that my legs might be paralyzed because of that explosion, you better get me to a hospital. (nobody moves) Now... (nobody moves still) Today...

(Long pause)

Sareena: I think we’re supposed to end this thing now...

Scorpion: Hold on, I need to end this on a bit of a finality note.

(Scorpion takes out a mallet and a sign, he embeds the sign into the ground. It says: “Handicapped Loser” with an arrow pointing at Sub-Zero)

Scorpion: Good night, Seattle. I love you!

Sub-Zero: (irritated) We’re in Chicago, you freakin’ goddamn retard!

(Scorpion steps on Sub-Zero’s paralyzed leg, which causes him to scream out due to the endless amount of pain.)

The End

Hahhaaa!! Nice story! But I think Sub-Zero is cooler than Scorpion...grin Anyway, about Sareena. I don ́t really care about characters motives and stuff. Usually they ́re so ridiculous, obvious and stupid... sad

I am surprised that Sareena didn't appear on any 3d games before; she has potential and her story can have A LOT of development, I think Sareena will be my fav of all females from what i have seen in MK:A, and I REALLY hope that she isn't a space filler; i think that she will be persumed die in MK:A, but she will re-appear in the next gen, and the nshe will tell how she lived.....
