A note about character choice...

I'll concede I don't know a little more than nothing about DC, but shouldn't popularity over-factor limitations of fighting? I don't know if Poison Ivy is significantly popular (or more popular than other characters), but couldn't her plant abilities substitute her lack of physical blows? Or perhaps subtle changes could be made to her fighting style to incorporate such physical attacks (again, I know little about Ivy, but is hand-to-hand attacks really much of a stretch?)

And speak of the devil, Capcom was always great at allowing non-melee fighters have sensible move pallettes. They managed to get Venom and Server Bot to have a reasonable battle (Zero should have been in that fucking game, by the way). Smash bros didn't do such a bad job with MewTew (sp?) or that chap from Pikmin.

I couldn't agree with what you've said more. At the end of the day they said that you'll be able to recognise 90% of the MK vs DC roster, in which case, you go over to a DC board and Poison Ivy is a popular character, and IS iconic in her own right.

That's actually why I brought up relevance rather than dwelling on Poison Ivy's viability in a classic MK engine that rests almost exclusively on differentiating fighters by their special moves. I'm doing my best to hold out hope for something more involving, along the lines of MKDA's fight mechanics -- but I digress (with naivite).

It's definitely a Capcom conceit to use a character like that.
As interesting as it might be in the name of versatility, MK generally demands a baseline capability of their fighters, and it would be an unnecessary removal from a character already teetering on the pinhead of the B-list.

For plantlife and a late eighties/early nineties environmental consciencousness, you'd get more love from a Swamp Thing. Unless, of course, leafy bikinis are your criteria for a good selection.

Swamp Thing's certainly 'iconic,' even if he isn't terribly recognisable in today's market, largely due to Vertigo segregation, but I'm getting dangerously close to conversation again, so I better pull back.

there's not really any villans listed at all. especially on the DC side. a lot of people are saying that robin will be in.

i honestly don't think that will happen. batman is already in. a lot of people would love to see the joker in the game as well. if he does make it, that's two characters from batman. with the addition of robin, that would be 3. to have 3 out of 10-15 characters from DC from batman alone would be silly.

there are shit loads of other characters that could make the cut from other series in the DC universe.

granted i would like to see people like catwoman, poison ivy, bane, mr. freeze as well... but it's probably not going to happen.

I'd like to point out that while Poison Ivy could have an interesting moveset, she's pretty far down on Batman's list of popular rogues. I've mentioned that before in another topic where I said Catwoman, perhaps, but Poison Ivy? That'd be a shocker considering her unpopularity.
