No Good vs Evil, just Evil
No Good vs Evil, just Evil
Yeah, the intro might not be canon, but the people are.
It seems that everyone has become rutheless, now. Raiden has begun making deals with Shao Kahn; Daegon admits to starting the Red Dragon, just to find and kill ONE person; Rain searches to kill both his brothers in order to obtain the prize; Frost is now a deranged psychopath; due to all the bullshit, the Forces of Light is what the Eurythmics would call, "disbanned"; Stryker's questioning his own teamates; Nightwolf corrupts his own soul...
Come on! Everybody's gone bad now!
What do you guys think?

there is a big difference in being stupid and naive.
Shujinko was naive but he became wiser.

If everyone's evil, then why is the darkside fighting the forces of LIGHT?

I didn't say they were; I said it seems like it.
Just about everyone has become as ruthless and cunning as Tanya, and she's a bad motherfucker! What I'm trying to say is, this prize is tearing everyone apart!
JUST TO POINT SOMETHING OUT: I know the intro isn't canon, but since Quan Chi spoke of other people being on his side, I'm just gonna say it. Dairou and Darrius are supposed to be against Hotaru. Why were they on he same team? Havik was determined to keep Onaga from getting what he wants. Why did he side with Onaga? This shit doesn't make any sense!

There are some ruthless and cunning people, true; but hell, dynamic characters keep the plot going! The intro also put neutral characters on the evil side, which I can see fitting because these people are out for their own motives. I think the addition of the neutral characters tweaked the traditional MK dichotomy of good vs. bad that old school fans are used to. The characters are a bit less static than the old MKs and perhaps that is why some people seem tainted now.

I think all the good guy's souls are tainted or corrupted by now, except Kitana. Kitana has been good all the way. As for Raiden, he's probably more neutral now that he's more in touch with his darker side.

What? Are you kidding me? Kitana was one of Shao Kahn's loyal warrior assassins for thousands of years. She certainly has a tainted soul.

Well, it does seem that many of the goody-goddy characters have become either more brutal or less nicer.
Jax for example, who most likely did something stupid according to Jareks and Sonyas bios, and Kenshi, although we always knew him as a wild card, he did surprise us with a kind of arrogant or rather selfish bio. Same with Rayden for obvious reasons, Liu Kang, etc.
But then we still have some of the other good guys who remain just as loyal as ever (or we could say, not so affected by any “taint” they might have gotten) like Sonya, Sub-Zero, Johnny Cage and even part of Liu Kang still makes his good side remain in a spotlight (his spirit), etc.
They are still and havent even been nothing close to being like Tanya, or evil (even though Sonya and Cage were used by Onaga, nothing really "evil" was revealed).

I agree. Shunjinko was never stupid.

I get you, though I'm not sure if Scorpion was ever evil.
I just want all this war bullshit to stop. It's been going on sicne MKDA, and I'm sick of it! I want old fashioned, ass-kicking, head-ripping MK stories. Everything is all lopsided, now.

But it seems like the intro is canon because the intro takes place after Taven sees the pyramid at the end of Konquest Mode!!!

the attract mode of Mortal Kombat I for Sega Genesis has this as a story motivator -
The word 'code' has many different definitions. The shaolin martial arts tournament is governed by a system of rules of conduct
...an ethical code.
The combatants respect each other as warriors, no matter what degree of hatred they have for one another
...a code of honor.
Another type of code could be defined as an arbitrary system of symbols or letters for transmitting messages
...a secret code.
Mortal Kombat adheres to many codes, but does it contain one?
With everything that's happened since 1992 in the story, I think it'd be safe to say a big fat NO. It's just one big twisted game. The rules are always broken, people change sides, there's always a way around things. Nothing ever stays intact. Because then there'd be no balance. And balance is what keeps the realms together.
They talk ABOUT codes, but there's never any follow-up. Just pawns on a chessboard is all they are in the grand scheme of things.

The all out king of he hill at the pyramid?
It has nothing to do wether someone is corrupted or not, magic, alignment or any kind of other other difference simply does not matter. All of them, ...
save Liu Kangs corpse adhered to one prime notion:
the Will to Power -Nietsche.
To seize that power because of conviction. Conviction wether to use the that power for the greater good because of their own misguided greed, or by simply because they were convinced they were above all else to wield that power.
Every character was selfish, every character was misguided from the start, and had absolutely no proper moral conviction, PROMINENTLY the likes of Raiden, and from the opposition Shinnok.
