Although I thought this revelation was cool, it doesn't make much sense to me.
First, how CAN Noob reprogram Smoke? It's revealed by both Boon and (I think) Vogel that elder Subby HATED the Lin Kuei's use of advanced technology, thus preventing him from learning the computer programming used in the creation of the cyberninjas.
Second, if Noob retained his knowledge of who his brother was, then surely he'd retain his knowledge of what happened in Mythologies (of which he starred in). Hence, with that knowledge, why in the realms would he hook up with Quan Chi and Shinnok, when they betrayed him and used him when he was alive? You would think that, like Scorpion, he would want revenge against them for manipulating him like they did. Besides, although not directly stated, it's hinted that Noob's been a loyal member of the Brothers of the Shadow, and Shinnoks follower, for years, if not centuries. There are precious few years between Subby's death in MK1 and Deception, pretty much preventing him from gaining the devotion after death that Noob had achieved.
Third, a wraith usually keeps the characteristics of the person they were in life, but when Noob showed up, he used powers that were completely unrelated to his natural Kori abilities, and hardly used those same Kori powers at all as a spectre. The ONLY time we've seen him use them was during his Deep-Freeze fatality in MK4.
I'm sorry if this sounds a bit nitpicky, but despite how cool the ending sounds, there is substantial proof as to why it CANNOT be real, and very little as to why it can.
