The violence level was never an Issue with me. I doubt there's gonna be an MK9 given the shape that Midway is in.

if there's no Mk 9 I'd blame the economy MK vs DC could be the best game ever but if you look at how many company's are going bankrupt it wouldn't be surprising to see midway go under before MK9

MK is a sizeable franchise, if Midway goes belly-up, another company could buy them out of it.

Game companies don't disappear when they go broke, they get bought out by other game companies. If Midway flops, MK is their best selling franchise, so there'll be a new one, it'll just be by EA or Activision or Rockstar or whoever buys Midway.

To be fair, nobody should have been expecting a great game from Midway considering how epic shit Deception and Armageddon were. Just get Ed Boon away from the games, let Tobias take over, get a team who knows what the fuck balance is, stop using the violence as the main attraction of the game, focus on making the game fun and not stiff/clunky, and it will be a good game.

I, however, will not have this game until Wednesday, so I'll probably post my thoughts then.

I agree about the violence. I really couldn't give a shit about fatalities. Even when I did love finishers, the thrill vanished two weeks after purchase. Fatalities make much more sense when you're in a arcade surrounded by a crowd of five people.

But let Tobias take over? I don't even want Tobias near a word processor. After the MK4 retcons and the absolute ruin of Scorpion's story (which rebounded in MKD, but turned right back to shit in MKA), I think he's the last thing MK needs right now.

Giving it to Namco would be the worst idea ever... they'd probably favor Tekken and Soul Calibur more. Giving it to rare could be alright... then again they did fuck up Banjo and Killer Instinct Gold. Giving it to EA would have like Falloutboy, Kate Perry, Lil Wayne, Avril, Foo Fighters, etc... soundtrack with the game... please God no. Same with Activision...

As far as Rockstar goes, maybe that might be an option. I really liked Vice City, Manhunt, and Bully... ALTHOUGH, the censorship of Manhunt 2 REALLY disappointed me. Still, I like how they don't take shit (most of the time) from the ESRB, they fight back to defend their rights to make violent games, and they're not afraid to make a brutal and controversial game (which is what people would be hoping from MK9) so I can see MK9 happening with Rockstar... if not Midway.
