The more characters you have, the more difficulty you have in differentiating them from one another for starters, and "balancing" them secondly. I'd rather 20 decent characters than 30 or 40 average or badly put together characters. And I'd rather 10 REALLY well done characters than that. But I think 20 is a reasonable amount.

I agree with shibata. They should have put 20 characters on each side. It'll still be a good game though!

The character quantity is fine. It'll be fun to just battle fighters from completely different worlds. Hey, ever since you read the title Mk v.s. DC, you should have been aware that this is like a both akward and new step for both franchises. I'm sure they tried to keep it simple when it came down to characters to fill in the slots. A little expected thing to do. If you want more characters, you will damn sure get it in Mortal Kombat v.s. DC: 2, depending on sales & distribution.

i'm not saying have like 60 characters.

but a number closer to 30 would be better. hell i'd even like three more characters.

Not to bang the same drum in every thread, but obviously this is a problem that could've been easily remedied with character-based consistency among the titles.

This has to be one of the few times the lure of pitting two distanced groups against one and other isn't hinged on how the fond familiarity of fighters interacts with a new group.
They'd save themselves half the trouble - and do so with a pretty strong logic - if they weren't 'starting from scratch' every time the characters come out to play. 'Starting from scratch' in loose terms, of course.

I don't see what's so bad about it. Deception had 24/26, Deadly Alliance had 23, MK Gold had 23.

This game has 22. The quantity of overall characters is about the same as any other MK game. It's just that half the roster is DC.

I think its a decent amount, theres always DLC dont forget.

DLC should be free if they have it at all. or the game shouldn't be full price. but you can't really say that this game has the same roster as anyother MK game because there are only 11. if anything this has to be one of the smallest rosters technically.

With 20 Characters things will stay balanced.
And they took the main stream characters from both sides.
Even if your "Favorite" Character isn't in the game
Chances are that they are and they're NPC's.
So yea, people need to get over this bullshit of
"Man they need more ---" "Why isn't ---- in the game."

It is less characters then the last gen...But you have to consider the MK team is working with characters they never have before. Quality over quantity IMO.

As long as they include the obvious characters everyone is missing, its good (Johnny Cage, Mileena, Reptile, Sindel, etc).

And, btw, to most people it does feel small because there are 11 non-mk characters "taking the space" of Mk characters.

Don't worry about it! Thats why they added a DLC -Down Load Content. Feature to the game. I'm pretty sure the missing characters will surface later. I still have high hopes for Johnny Cage, Noob Saibot and Reptile

Johnny Cage is a definite DLC. Kung Lao also. Kung lao is like liu kang's best friend.

By the way Ed talked about Kung Lao in a recent interview, I think its safe to expect him in the game.

Johnny Cage and Mileena both got a lot of love and support, I'm thinking they are musts as well.
