**Sits and stares at the new pics for 10 minutes**

Bear with me, here. I'm not usually the type to openly voice my criticisms, and for me, this is a first.

I've liked everything I've seen about MKD so far. everything.

But these new pics have decided to allow me to give a voice to little demon lurking in the back of my mind for awhile now, ever since I first saw Noob Saibot's alternate costume.

Let's just assume, for the moment, that the new transparent character seen in the shots is, in fact, Smoke. All quarreling aside.

And let's assume that the lady in green is Tanya, based on the fact that Jade has already been seen in a prison cell (yes, I know she and Kabal are fighting in a prison cell, but the outfit is different. That proves nothing, but bear with me here).

If this is the case...

What are the MKD team smoking?

I know I'm not the only one who thinks Noob's alternate would be perfect for Smoke. Since when has Noob had human skin?

And this screen we've got of Smoke...it's nice, but...why is he decked out completely in black? That's Noob's department.

It just makes me wonder why they didn't just switch the outfits around, and let Smoke keep the transparency.

And if that IS Tanya (which I REALLY hope it isn't), I fully expect it to be seen in her Bio that she had Jade imprisoned for a chance to go through her underwear drawer. If not, there had better be a damned good reasn as to why she's wearing green.

**sigh**

All this, to me, makes as much sense as giving Sektor a yellow alternate costume.

I agree. I don't know what are Midway thinking when they made Smoke look like that. His head piece is very weird and how did he become semi-human again? Wasn't he a cyborg? JUST KEEP HIM AS A CYBORG!

I really hope to God that THAT lady in green is Jade cuz it would be a major fuck up if it is Tanya. Green is NOT her color!

To start, I don't think Noob's alt would have been a good costume for Smoke. I like that idea of giving Smoke something entirely unique, breakin from the human/cyborg concept. Smoke's costume isn't entirely black, also. It had grey/metal knee pads, shoulder pads, and helmet guard. Also, we haven't seen him clearly from the front yet. It would make sense that there is more gray than we're seeing.

As for the green woman, I hope it's Jade, but Tanya is probably a safer bet. I fear they'll pull a Mavado, and say Tanya ran into Jade in one encounter, killed her, and stole her dress. I pray to God this isn't the scenario, but I wouldn't put anything past midway. But I would like it to be Jade. Truthfully, we don't know if Jerek, Jade, Drahmin, and Fujin are the only ones in the prison. Maybe all old MK models are in there, and the characters switch out each time you play the level. I wouldn't say it isn't Jade just yet.

But in time, a lot these models will grow on us. I'm not crazy about Kabal's unchanged appearance, but I can't see it well enough to really judge. It'll probably look better in a render.

I will have to agree with you that Smoke deserves a different costume as Noob saibot has always been the mystery black shadow, but this guys ar Midway have gone too far m,aking him trasnaprent, as for Tanya i think that girls i Jade , and as i posted in my thread i think there is a way to unluck the imprisioned fighters.

P.S. Your threat of ranting @ IRC was truE!!!

If its tanya, let GOD strike down Midway headquarters with bolts of LIGHTNING!!!

well its not that bad, but Jade is like 100 million billion times better then tanya and its just not right for tanya to take her green color like that.

Why keep him as a cyborg? There is so much potential for him with this ethereal concept, and I don't like the idea of him being a gray/blue sektor. Not only his this a good design for him, but it's a good compromise. He isn't human or Cyborg.

Hmm... it's hard to describe. It's an adjective that means spectral, heavenly, or ghost-like. Sort of "unreal", I guess. I don't know how to describe it, but that's the vibe, basically.

Most definitely agree here. I LOVE what they have decided to do with Smoke. So much so that I am now looking forward to seeing him, as before I was kind of impartial..didn't care either way. I'm really happy he's not a cyborg anymore, and personally I think the ethereal look suits him very well. Can't wait to see the smoke/mist animation coming from him in the game..I bet it's gonna look sweet!

Best way I can think of to define ethereal is, not solid.

As for the girl in green. I think it's Jade. And this is more symbolic and there is some evidence to support it. Look at her knees. The part where the knee cap is, is out lined in gold, and it looks too solid to be fabric, so that material might be jade.

Ok guys and girls I agree with what alot of you are saying it would make me mad if alot of characters end up with other characters colors and weapons but I think it has alot to do with DECEPTION. This is what the mk staff wants, a reaction to the pics people saying oh this is bad or good some people wondering what the hell is going on. It's all part of a big plan to confuse us and send us down a road that leads to the unknown. Pics could come out for the next three months and we will still know nothing. I think the MK staff is doing a great job of leading us around and making us think this or that and in the end we will still be where we started. Time will tell see ya on the flip. DSB

I'm hoping that they work out a smoking affect for him. The smoke doesn't have to come of his body, but I think it might be cool to see it swirling around inside of him. Plus, I hope they make his eyes red, because that would look pretty scary. An ethereal ninja, in black and grey armour and piercing red eyes, is just the look that Smoke needs to show off how bad ass he is. Plus, it makes him look evil, and less like Sub-Zero's friend, which is kind of what I'm hoping for since we haven't seen him in six years.

I agree completely with DSB. Perhaps it's bordering on paranoia, but I would not put it past the MK team to release shots with the express intention of confusing their fans. Maybe this is all being done on purpose.

Why would you want Smoke to be evil, though? I alway found his friendship with Sub-Zero kind of touching.

Anyway, he will smoke. He must smoke. He IS smoke. And Smoke must smoke. It wouldn't be Smoke if he didn't smoke...would it?

I don't know, I don't want him to be neciseraly evil but I think that an anti-hero persona would fit him much better then being fully good. PLus there's no telling what happened to him over the past couple of years, so we don't know what mind set he's in right now. Plus, even when he was in MK3, we never got a good sense of his attitude. All we had to go on was that he and Sub-Zero were closer than brothers. But after he went through and, who knows what else, six years can really change someone. So Smoke's outlook might be totally different. Plus, grey, black and red, is just a kick ass evil color scheme.

its khameleon ....... hello transparent and he blends in with different colours of each background ........ maybe thats why hes black cause it was dark and it is jade because tanya always wears gold. wake up.

He's looks awesome! I LOVE what they've done too!! I had a feeling they'd do a good job and now they have. the thereal look is great and I'm hoping that the smoking effects are added at some stage. And I hope they do a good job with that also.

As for Tanya in green, they had better have a damned good reason if it is really Tanya. I'm going to be happy and annoyed. Happy simply because green is my fave colour and it looks good on whoever it is in that pic and annoyed because it isn't Jade!

okay two things firstly Kabal and whoever are NOT fighting in a cell, look at the top of the shot you can clearly see that its the showers and that they are not inclosed as one side has no bars also not making it a cell! thats that and also khameleon was a he in the n64 trilogy and female in the playstation.

Reverse that. She in N64, and he in PSX.

I really can't stand Smoke's new outfit, and I'm the only person to not complain yet about the actual smoke/transparent effect and instead target everything else. He reminds me of a horrible looking hamburger-faced Spawn.

I could honestly care if that's Jade or Tanya in green, but I would much rather have Jade over Tanya. However, Temp might be right about the "killed Jade and stole her dress." Midway would do something like that.

I'm more concerned about the "Fans" vs. "Kali" picture. Hmmm...

Yeah, thought so.

And maybe the mysery lady and Kabal are not in a cell strictly speaking, but they are in the prison stage.

well....all i know is whoever said midway put out these shots to cause controversy...they are absolutely right....the sole purpose of those shots were to get us talking...and by god...LOOK AT US...trust me...they would not hold back on these charictors and then throw em at us for no reason...they want to see what were saying...there is still three good months of development left...they may want to see what the fans have to say about smoke's design tanya/jade and kabal
