I liked Raiden in the first 2, but he got somewhat tiresome. I mean I'd rather him than Bo Rai Cho, but I think he should maybe sit out and return next time with a fresh new look. I am excited about using him when MK1 gets released again though, yay!!!

As for Johnny Cage... I'm glad you brought those reasons up, because they certainly are the two greatest reasons for him coming back. That is unfortunately, also working against him. He is an unimaginative character who has been done to death. I am happy not to see him return and for that reason I am giving Ben a solid chance.

I wish that every IMPORTANT character from the past would be included as a playable character.

I'm upset to see Cage, Raiden and Jax gone.

I just don't see why they included Li Mei(Shes pretty much a Mileena clone) and Bo Rai Cho. I couldn't stand him.


This is looking to be the greatest fighting game of all time, but I'm sure some people will be turned off by the fact that some of the more important classic fighters are gone.

I wouldn't say Cage or Jax are important. Raiden is defintitely.

I think they made some poor decisions with some of the returning characters, but hey some of the new ones look wicked, so I'm not too sore about it.

I completely agree! Sonya is definitely important, and not only is she the original female of the games, she is by far the one that has been most improved and elaborated!

Look at her in MKDA! A dealy weapon.

I also consider Cage and raiden important.

These are the main classics that should return.

Sonya has to make a whole 360 turn from mkda......the only thing that was good about her was her combos.......she has to come back and rip, like on mk4.

After mkda i was hoping to play with sonya so much! She was ***** awesome in that game! I hated Cage till Mk4, and in MKDA i liked him more.

Well all of them cant be in all the mk-games.....they have to switch up sometimes, but sonya and cage are always needed in my opinion, and raiden cant come back without his teleport and torpedo.

And most of the people, not all, but most, that are saying they don't like her now are not saying that they don't like Sonya in particular, most of the complaints have only been regarding her storyline and how it needs improvment. I like all the classics and I'm slightly dissapointed that
so many probably won't be playable.

But apparently, we'll be seeing them ALL in Konquest
mode, so maybe they're all somehow important and
involved in the story.

The main characters of mk that should return are: Scorpion, Young Sub, Sonya, Cage, Raiden and probably Shang Tsung.

To think those characters dont have much fans is wrong, even stupid Cage can manage to have a higher amount of fans then haters! Thay are main characters and will live as long as Mk lives.

If you are judging characters for lame stories, you should read queves scorpion overrated thread. And Im (even if someone says not) a fan of scorpion, but unlike others, I admit he has a lame story.

Sonya has a large fan base, you can see that, so does other originals such as Johnny Cage (yes, even him) and Rayden. The 3 are important characters and they should return, they might not in deception, but will in mk7.

I'm sorry, I just don't think there is anything cool about Cage or Sonya. Raiden I like, but he's just getting a little boring, I mean Cage is rediculous because they keep killing him and bringing him back, and he's a movie star (meanwhile Stryker gets pissed on for being a cop)... I mean, bring him back once and let him stay, dont' say "thanks for the help, here's the axe, we'll bring you back for the next one buddy"!

As for Sonya.... Well you could argue that yes she's a good fighter, but so is everyone else. I can kill tons of people with her, but she's still boring in my opinion. In MK 2 everyone said Reptile was the worst fighter in the game. Play me with him, or any Reptile user and you may not find it so easy to win. Sonya requires a story revamp if nothing else, but I also dislike her moves and appearance, it's just way too standard.

Oh, its clear now. You just dont like Sonya, thats why you said most people dont. She does need a new story, but a lot more other characters also need a story improvement, such as Scorpion.

If you say you dislike her special moves, you must really dislike her character. SHe has some of the best.

Johnny Cage has only died ONCE, and actually, he DID NOT EVEN DIE!!! The team said it was a movie called "the deah of johnny cage" and they hinted he truly never died, it was just part of his movie. And even if he did, he only died once.

In fact there is only 1 original character unchanged. The original Subzero is not in the game. It's his brother!

So Scorpion is the only unchanged character. Unless you count Liu Kang?! Although he has changed in form, but still he is there apparently!

I personally loved Sonya in all the MK games. She's such a kick arse character if known how to be used. As are any characters! It's just he story that needs a little improving as already suggest by a couple people previously in this thread. And in saying that her story isn't all that bad, it just needs a bit of 'OOMPH!!' to it.

I never really liked Raiden or Sonya until MK:DA.I thought they could easily be replaced by any other MK fighter.But in MK:DA they seemed a lot cooler and stronger.I'll miss them but at least I'll be able to see them in Konquest.But first I'm gonna look for Frost in Konquest.

I think that Fujin was going to be a replacement in MK4?! But that failed miserably!! I don't think Raiden could have been replaced. He has been too important in the whole series. I think he has been the most important character to the outcomes of each game. He's been the integral player since MK1, even more so than Scorpion & Subzero. It's just they are more popular!

Sonya on the other hand could've been a dispensable character.

I dissagree with Sonya's moves being some of the best. They are not bad, but still, i thas little bearing on the fact that her design and story are virtually uninspired.

Maybe she has been captured, killed or in a wheelchair with bad injuries. Whatever the reason for her not being in the game is because of the story doesn't require her to participate in the game as a fighter.

The people on this website don't represent the entire popularity of a character.Saying a character is popular on the forumns doesn't mean that most people like that character.These forumns only represent a small fraction of what MK fans really feel.Since there are millions of MK fans and less than 200 frequently post here.

I think Sonya is an awesome character but that doesn't mean most people do.Either way I'm sure she'll be in MK7.

I'm all on it for Raiden. He is by far way better then sonya and johnny cage. He has massive potential, and i wouldve loved it if he made it in MKD. However, characters come and characters go, and i think Raidens time is up for now. Its been said that he will die in the intro. Perhaps Fujin should take his role for a bit, and be the guide. I've always wanted Fujin to return anyway.

For sonya, i do think shes an ok character, afterall, shes basically one of the originals. I'm not into her at all, but i dont hate her either. I just dont care if shes in an MK game or not. IMO though, the whole Special Forces thing doesnt seem to fitting in the MK universe, and i dont find it to play a huge role. The one and only main thing i probably liked about sonya was her rivalry with kano. Besides that, nothing. Since kano is pretty much dead, i dont find her important. I was also dissapointed how cyrax and kenshi joined the SP, hopefully kenshi is out.

As for johnny cage, i think hes a horrible character with no potential or a good storyline. IMO hes absolutely boring, and a waste of a character, original or not. The only way I see him is as a joke character. I hope cage dies soon, hes very pointless IMO.
