As you know the British Magazine PSM2 did a 6 page special last month on MK history and a preview of Deception, this month they did a review of it.
Nothing new storywise, it seems they put 100% into reviewing the game itself.
Gameplay:
+ Packed with bizarre game modes
- Konquest mode is a bit of a joke
Graphics:
+ Detailed interactive backgrounds
- Konquest mode looks rough and basic
Sound:
+ Typically meaty sound effects throughout
- Poor voice acting in Konquest mode
Lifespan:
Mastering the extra modes, should you wish to, will add weeks to the lifespan.
And online play guarantees you someone to play with.
Overall: It's the the fighting game they threw the kitchen sink at. The new modes mean there's something for everyone, and the new fatalities are always entertaining.
Reviews are done out of 100 and MK:D got
85
They seem to like it, and despite what it says in the generalisation about Konquest mode they like that too.
"A few years ago this would have been a stand-alone title in it's own right."

so that is the british PSM Mag. still it seem like they liked everything except for konquest mode. which surprized me i thought that that was going to be the best mode, they made it seem like it was a chore to do, not really fun.
i want to see the other reviews.

crappy graphics & bad voice acting
their right
from what i seen so far i would rate the konquest mode a 7/10
I know its there for fun & to make the game longer & to make the user a pro fighter but the graphics really suck compared to arcade lol
the konquest, chess & tetris could have been seprate games by themeselves but their all added in 1 big game so thats very neat
i love to see all the old characters in the konquest mode but everythin else other than that sucks about it lol
The reviewers shouldnt really take it too hard on MKD cause its alota game modes, fighters & stages in 1 lil game
i say ign will give it a 9.2 & gamespot will give it a 8.8 - 9.0 :)
So far i give it a 9.5 :D
i still think they could have made the dead pool fatality look better

Looks as though they have a grudge against Konquest Mode.
Maybe they couldn't get through it easily and they got pissed off?
85 out of 100 is decent.

I think what they said about Konquest Mode si fair, I knew Konquest would be kool but the graphics would suffer considering it's not the main game and it's pretty big for that.
Good score. I'm waiting for the US PSM to review Dception, they will probably give it a 8 or 9 out of 10.

Yeah! I think Konquest Mode might be MKD weakest element. The graphics don't really impress me from what I've seen.
I think Chess and the other game will make up for it.

I don't care about graphic. I still play original Mwgaman games for NES, because gameplay is in the 1st place for me. And graphic vise Konquest isn't bad at all.

They didn't say Konquest sucked, they said it had poor voice acting (we knew that), and the graphics were below average (they are). As for it being kind of a joke, it is that as well. It's cheesy, it's over the top, but it still looks fun. They never said it was a chore.

At least the fighting in Konquest looks like the arcade. And besides, I can live with below average graphics and horrible voice acting if I get to create my own Shujinko. I wich you could name him yourself, though, Shujinko isn't exactly he coolest name out there.

You will be able to rename him.
Ed Boon stated it in one of the earlier interviews about Konquest.
Shujinko is just his default name.

Yeah he's called Shujinko because when u unlock him and win a fight in arcade it can say "Shujinko wins...FATALITY" instead of ".....FATALITY" because you wanted to make your own name

Thanks FLSTYLE. It sounds good. I wasn't expecting Konquest to have voice acting at all. I knew the graphics weren't going to be great so yer.
Thanks again.

As well as the review there's a lot of pictures scattered all over the place, some showing the names of characters' styles, personally I've not heard of the majority before but they sound interesting
Kabal's Sun Bin style fighting Sub-Zero using a new version of the Kori-Blade (kinda like a samurai shaped sword, but made of ice, and held in one hand)
Sub-Zero using the Lungchuan Dao
---------------------------------------------------
Also on this Month's DVD is Ed Boon's guided tour through Deception, so I get to watch it on top quality on my TV tongue

Nightwolf using Silat? I thought his styles were
Val Tudo
Tae Kwon Do
Tomahawks.
I hope they didn't ditch Tae Kwon Do. Cause that style is very strong and badass.
Thanks again for the info. IS there anything else that might interest us.

My mistake tongue
The picture shows Baraka on the right side of the screen and Nightwolf on the left, but the health bars are the opposite, sorry about that.
-----------------------------------------------------
Players 1-2
Memory Save 600k
Widescreen? No
50-60hz? No
Surround Sound? No
They seem to think there's no need for strategy in Chess mode, the only thing stoping a high level player losing is the health handicaps.

Honestly, why the hell should the MK team worry so much about how graphically detailed MK Konquest is? It's not the main part of the friggin game. I would understand if MK was a RPG Genre, but it's a fighting game. These critics shoudl realize that.

They have to say something bad about the game or it would be a biased review, would you rather them say something bad about the main fighting mode?
EDIT picture and system info as in info about pictures and system? confused

Thats okay man. I was just a little puzzled for a bit there.
No surround sucks. It would be great to have surround. I guess MGS3 has surround so yer.
What about puzzle do they say any thing interesting on that ?

Puzzle Kombat:
"Puzzle Kombat is a different beast, in so much as it has absolutely nothing to do with Mortal Kombat. It's about matching coloured squares that fall from the top of the screen, and making them vanish by adding a detonator block to the pile before it hits the ceiling and you lose. At the bottom of the screen a couple of super-deformed fighters play out a comical fight according to how well you're playing the puzzle - not that you really notice when you're concentrating on the tumbling pair of blocks. Addictive stuff."
