I was thinking about this game today and something just struck me out of nowhere.

The RAGE makes characters more violent and more apt to do things they wouldn't normally do, right? So, given that, shouldn't the DC heroes have fatalities?

Yes, yes, DC doesn't want their heroes killing people, I know.

But if someone is loaded with superpowers and rage, do you really think they're gonna hold back?

Just a simple thought. I wanna see how they explain this in the storyline.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure it will be one of those "Oh, I'm Superman, and I can't break my heroic integrity" or something like that.

Hector Sanchez was talking about this in an interview. He was saying how they tried that with the WB and they weren't hearing any of it.

It wouldn't work because the WB and DC comics are a bunch of uptight assholes that would never go for it in 123144599243000 years

That's original. Let's call them assholes just because they don't want their characters to kill. They own the rights to the characters and have every right to restrict what MK does with them. That's the risk of having a crossover.

Which is why they shouldn't have bothered coming to MK, a game about killing, for a crossover with heroes that don't kill. Call me crazy but it just seems like a good idea to keep your characters out of a game where the main idea is to kill when your characters are boyscouts.

So much for Rage making any sense. Which it never did.
Just a silly game play gimmick that serves no purpose
other than giving you a second chance to win the match
if you're getting your ass handed to you. Should have used
those special moves, oops, I mean fatalities, and used them
as a special you can do once Rage mode is activated.

I'm almost certain that Midway came to DC. If someone could fact check this, my lazy ass would appreciate it.

Boon stated himself a few times that DC came to them in some interviews. i'll look for them later.

No, actually Boon said himself that Ed's Market team came up to him and told him "Hey what if we do a cross-over?" Then with a few suggestions they decided to contact DC and stick to it. It was in one of the early interview.

The one I saw said that DC went to their marketing team and then they asked Boon. So either he doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about or we're watching two different interviews.

http://www.trmk.org/games/mortal_kombat_vs_dc_universe/midway_gamers_day_2008/

And our marketing people approached us and said "what do you think about doing a DC game?" And you know, there was obvious pause. We didn't instantly say "Yeah we'll do it!" But at the same time, we're on Mortal Kombat 8 and we see the sales of other fighting games, and as big of a fan of them that I am, we see their sales going down and what-not. We've been lucky enough to have maintained that we've sold in the multi-million of copies of our games. We really feel like that it's the big changes that we do that keep people interested.

You should all be grateful, DC will bring a huge fanbase into the MK world, which will set up a lot more people buying MK9.

MK already has a huge fanbase. DC isn't
providing anything that isn't already there,
Besides the cash it will take to make Mk9.
