I agree with that in everyone's case but sonya's... a thong wedgie that far CANNOT be comfortable!

You guys are such prudes.

The outfits are excellent. They look creative and enchanting as much as sexy and skimpy.
Besides, Mileena, Tanya, etc have a cool dominatrix thing going for them, and in a game so full of macho ninja-ism, I think that the women trying to get a bit of attention is perfectly justifiable.

There's plenty of sex appeal in MKD. And it's not all provided by the likes of Mileena with revealing outfits. Some people find mysetry sexy so there will be those who find Ashrah sexy as she isn't revealing anything. The outfits are just amazing. Even features such as white eyes can be sexy.

All fighters these days have sex appeal. Sex sells and a lot of people like seeing females dressing sexy and in a game like MK, dressing that way and being deadly is also appealing to females as well as males.

The sex appeal will always be there. It's another added effect.

Sonya,Tanya,Kitana, sindel, jade are good dressed and the important thing is that they are looking good!!!
so its not neccesary to see the womens in less dressed costumes.

Female practioners of karate styles, judo, kung fu styles, capoeira, silat styles, tae kwon do,hapkido, and many other fighting arts don't have a problem moving in their martial art uniforms which are not swimsuits, thongs, etc.

The female character "sexy" costume designs in MKD and DOA are a cynical ploy to sell more games without trying to come up with imaginative ideas for the females. They create a variety of styles of costumes for the males but most of females costumes are the same theme/design.

If it's meant to be about fighting would you wear a swimsuit to fight with people using swords, sticks, etc and fireballs.I'd be wearing something fireproof-kevlar and a bit of armor on the vital areas!

You see kids dressing like whores, you can't stop it really. I enjoy the game because I like fighting, it's fun.

I agree with you! Ashrah has finally broken for that circle of whore females, LOL.

I like how someone said “people find mystery to be sexy”, and this is true. Even though Ashrah is fully dressed, she is still sexy.

Just like Sonya, she can manage to stay decent and sexy at the same time.

Others need some serious changes, IMO, Sindel and Kitana need the most work. They are a queen and her princess, mother and her daughter, they have to stop looking like whores!

Well, I have just been watching the female gymnastics in the Olympics, and i think that their costumes are very similar to Jade, Kitana, Sindel, etc...allowing for fluid movements and agility.
Fighting in a martial arts costume is great if you were not making a fantasy based fighting game, but how boring would the game be if they were all wearing judo suits, for example.
I personally think that Mileena and Tanya are looking by far the best out of all the characters we have seen so far. They are imaginative, artistic and their costumes seem to have strong roots to culture...persian, egyptian and arabic styles are clearly evident. Their costumes are far more exciting, and in a game based in another world and fantasy scenarios, i think this is essential.
In the film "Hero" a fantasy martial arts film with Jet Li as the main character, you will see the female martial artists wearing great outfits flowing fabrics,no swimsuits,no hindered movements.

Yes JUDO-GIs are boring .I wasn't suggesting they wore actual copies of martial arts uniforms I was talking about the design, the cut and fit,the style, this is the issue.

The gymnastics in the olympics are real ,as you said MK is a fantasy game so they do not need to be compared to reality based outfits such as gymnastic costumes, according to your argument.

Basically the outfits you say are persian, egyptian etc are more similar to dancers outfits from their pagan era than middle eastern female warriors.

Then bring on the pagan outfits if thats the case, they look great.
I used the gymnastics to counter the comment about martial arts outfits,so you decide if we are talking reality or fantasy please.
Flowing fabrics would look great, but would cause animation problems...look at Jades fabric in her fatality clip.

Also, Jonny Cage, Jax, Lui Kang...infact, alot of the male characters wear tight fitting costumes, or reveal a chest, and there is no complaining there. Why when a woman shows flesh is she a whore?!

I really don't understand what the big deal about female characters being "too sexy" is.

Take Jade's slave girl attire. So the cheesecake factor is high. Does it change that she'll probably play good? Does it change that she has a good story? Does it change that she has a bad ass fatality and her other one will probably be sweet too?

The whole "slut" thing only becomes an issue when people make it an issue by saying "my character is better than your character because yours dresses like slut," which in my opinion is the bottem of the barrel of arguements.

Granted, the women in Mortal Kombat shouldn't start wearing nothing but dental floss, but the whole debate is pointless. It's not even like Mortal Kombat is the first or worst to have the female characters dress unrealistically.
And truth is, NONE of the characters, male or female, dress realistically.

I really like the way the skimpy costumes are designed, though I would like to see more accessory like items so the characters seem more "filled up" (like the male characters). I also wouldn't mind more fabric-laden designs, even for our old beloved characters. I like the look of Ashrah... seems very graceful. Remember the character concept sketch in the Krypt? The one with the woman fighter with flowing ribbons on her with hooks? I liked that, wish we had it. It was very "Kung-fu," but I would have loved to play as her :)
Oh, and I am sorry to say this but... Sonya wasn't sexy in MK:DA
*waits for flames*
I'm sorry!!! But when a woman looks like Mavado with makeup and a very stiff wig, IT'S NOT SEXY!!
But the outfit... eh, a little too commando. At least, I would have liked a little different of a commando look. grin

That’s what my girlfriend told me. LOL. She said it was impossible to fight that way with her boobs being the way they are. I tried to explain but failed.

Anyway, I actually love (like someone said) the slutty outfits that are designed for the game. But the real problem is when those outfits look too similar/boring, or too unnecessary.

That’s why I think Mileena, Tanya and Jade are great the way they are. Tanya actually has some type of veil that covers her legs a bit. Mileena has one of the best outfits ever, and Jade looks good since it resembles a slave woman.

But others such as Li Mei, Sindel and Kitana need to change that style. Its just not good anymore.
