Right.

We now know that he cannot retain his morphing ability, due to memory issues, where it cannot store 20+ characters models and movesets on demand.

So, what about this?

Instead of him being able to morph into a character and play as them completely for like 8 seconds, why don't you just assign him one move from each character?

It could go into his special moves as this for example

Sonya's Leg Grab - Forward, Back, Down, Y
Scorpion's Spear - Forward, Forward, A

Now, the memory can store that as you won't need to implement the other characters body damage or stance or anything, as it would be purely aesthetical and like so when you input the button combination, he'd perform that characters special move as the actual character, then when the move has finished he'd go back to himself, right!

Think of the opening in MK:SM, thats exactly how it could be done.

Your thoughts, suggestions?

Well, the idea is okay,
This is very similar to Shujinko in Deception, where from konquest mode was able to retain some of the moves he saw, like for example Scopians spear, and kira's kick special and Liu kang's bicycle kick..;-p

GOOD IDEA N0NE THE LESS

It's not similar in the sense that in essence it is the same as the way he morphed in the older games.

Shujinko and Shinnok never morphed into the characters, they merely mimicked what they could do.

Difference.

Also, clean up your moveslist thread, it's a mess and needs rewriting and updating. wink

What you mean a mess?..
Its not been updated in awhile because a lot of moves we haven't seen,, I mean their is like 1 or 2 moves that is confirmed and I haven't added it, but that would be basically it..
Anyways, I get what your saying and agree with you,
Ima try to update the list tonight or tommorow when im done with business..

Why dont you just forget about morphing and get new fresh ideas .Shang Tsung was very well in MK:DA and MK:A even though he was not able to morph in both games .

I think that start thinking about a new idea for him will be better .I just did not like your idea because it will make Shang Tsung very weak as a charcter in an only 22 charcter game .

With all those moves, he could possibly be more broken than everyone else. Hopefully that won't be a problem, since it wasn't in the old games. When he morphs into another character temporarily, he should also have their hitboxes and collision detection, instead of keeping his own.
One possibility could be that you are required to install some MK vs DC data onto the PS3/XBoX 360 hard drive when first running the game, so it could load all these models and data instantly.

Shang Tsung's going to remain a fleshed out character with his own asthetic, custom moves, and credibility as a fighter?

AW, NUTS!

I've been thinking that I'd like to see Shang Tsung have a morphing move similar to Rogue's Kiss & Power Steal move combo from X-Men VS Street Fighter. Basically you use the Soul Steal move which then activates another command that wasn't available before that makes him morph into that fighter for a single move that is taken from that character. This command would always be the same no matter what character/move it was stolen from and he'd be limited to only that one morph for that match and since both characters are preloaded at the start of the match it wouldn't be so bad. My solution is make Shang Tsung like the Rogue character in the X-men/Marvel VS series only he actually morphs and mimics instead of just mimics. I would like to see him at least use the morphing during the story cinemas if its not possible for the in-game because of how iconic it is for the character. Shang Tsung as a shapeshifter is as core to his character concept as Sub-Zero with his freeze, Scorpion with spear and toasty, Johnny Cage with his nutpunch, etc. They don't feel whole without them.

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yes sir, the check is in the mail."

Jack Burton likes Bloodfang's input.

Ever since MKDA, we've had the inability to incorporate Tsung's morphing ability, a key aspect of his character, into the game. The memory problem isn't something that's going to just disappear (although downloadable data to the system sounds like an interesting idea; still, I'm a gamer, not a game system tech or expert, so I'm kinda on the fence with that). Thus far, I think this idea here may have merit.

If he can't impersonate anyone at will in the actual game itself, at least let him be able to impersonate the opposing fighter. I think that would be a worthy concession to make, that he only be able to morph into one person than a multitude. Tsung's character plus whoever he's fighting are already loaded for battle, therefore I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.

However, if the morphing idea falls through in gameplay, I wouldn't mind seeing him shapeshift in the cutscenes either. The last thing I want to see is a character robbed of what defined them in the first place.

Anyone remember two-legged Motoro in MKA??? For me, they took the legs his balls were on.

And THAT'S what Jack Burton has to say at this time.

Whether he can morph or not, Shang Tsung will always be the iconic villain of MK. I'll get flamed because of that statement, but whatever. What did Shao Kahn do? He made a fake tournament, for Mk2, and resurrected Sindel in MK3. Eh... fwee...

Tsung is a fantastic character, regardless of whether or not he can morph. I'm happy he's a playable character, but I'd be happier if he was the "merged boss". Alas...

Good night everyone.

Good idea, but I don't know if it stills need a lot of memory space or not.

Haha, I don't think Shang Tsung would want to morph in this game because DC might sue the sorceror for copyright infringement.
