Maybe both?
Shao Kahn is the sub boss for DC
Darkseid is the sub boss for MK
but EVERYONE fights the merged one.

I think they will all be playable. Atleast as individuals. Fusing the two together is kinda strange. What's next, Bat-Zero or SuperScorpion. Gimme a break. It should just be an alliance....that's it.

Jack Burton knows the whole "merging boss" concept has everyone on edge...

I realize how easy it would be to totally screw something like a merged boss up, but if they go with the whole "alliance" thing, then we're back at the whole MKDA storyline...not that I wouldn't mind an alliance storyline per se, it's just that quite a few people could accuse the MK team of "rehashing" old plotlines, so-to-speak.

And THAT'S what Jack Burton has to say at this time.

They are both playable.

Just look at the achievements list.

You will get 5 points each for completing expert combos for both characters. These achievements would not be obtainable if Shao Kahn and Darkseid are not available to play as.

There could also be a possibility that both characters are the chosen ones to be merged into single boss

I hope "they" at least port achievments over to Trophies, though some different Trophies would be nice. I'm affraid though, that I'm pretty sure "they" aren't going to do Trophies at all for PSN. At least DC had deals with Sony, so if there's DLC characters later there's no chance of it being 360 exclusive........or will it? *dun dun duuuunnnnnn*

I think it's rather comical the Shao Kahn and Darkseid are bosses/sub bosses (whatever) when each can be beaten physically by Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, and Superman with some effort. I thought bosses/sub bosses were supposed to be "stronger" or "more opposing" than the characters. I can see Darkseid fitting the bill moreso than Shao Kahn b/c Darkseid's omega beams could fry everyone to dust except for the 3 characters I listed above and maybe Raiden.

Merging two characters doesn't really piss me off that much....it's just that one has always been my favorite. I just hope they don't screw the character for good. Ofcourse...after MKA, we're lucky any characters are still alive. Like I said.....I'm still hoping for an alliance like NoobSmoke. Imagine if they both fight you at the same time, like NoobSmoke does. I got my ass kicked quite a few times by those two. Dragon King wasn't nearly as tough, especially if you use Baraka.
Oh yea....they are definately both playable, no debate on that anymore.
