Shao Kahn is not dead. In MKDA, it might look like the Deadly Alliance killed him but thanks to the MK Crew in Fight Night they said that he's just hurt. Reiko is not Kahn, for the last time. Reiko is just simply part of Kahn's army.

reiko is the leader of the alien army of the twelf realm of zealican.

he flys around on a magical space unicorn zapping his enemies with bolts of cottan candy licking lolly pops.

he als enjoys shooting water balloons at the barbarians of alpha zonta in the neptun galaxie in 2034.

except this theory is entirely possible for reasons errormacro already described... a lot of games says characters die but they are still back. I personally think he is dead, but as said before in mortal kombat, if they die...they may make a return.
I think in Mk6 he will be involved in some form in the stories, I doubt he will be a playable character.
I believe that the bloodied helmet that is shown in Mk:Da is a nice indication that he has head injuries which in turn can lead to his demise.
So lets just see what happens.

I correct myself I watched the Kitana ending I think it was and it says something about Shao Khan I am pretty sure it was...It said he was dead, but is he dead forever...we wont know until we play number6 and so on.

well, it would be nice seeing shao kahn back. ( i did some research, not a bad character) if the dragon king is the first emperor of outworld this could leave bitterness between him and shao kahn. it could mean a power struggle. since shao kahn is weakened by everyone he has to fight his way back to the top. or perhaps he suffer from amnesia due to shang tsung and quan chi and forgot who he was? or mabey he is truly dead. it don't matter we have less than a year to find out if he is going to be in the new game.
