Oh, lord....Kahn, Shinnok and Raiden are NOT family. The movies are not canon to the game series. If yuo notice Kahn and Shinnok don't even share that sort of relationship in the games. Allies at times, sure (Shinnok loaning Kahn Noob Saibot). But not family

As I'd stated in my earlier post, Shao Kahn is an immortal who falls just this short of being a god. This was stated in the Mortal Kombat 3 game manual for Genesis, I think. The only thing I can't figure out is species is he, or has he always looked that way.

I've wondered about that. Shao Kahns, to me, looks part Tarkaten and human. As for his origin all I know is what has been stated in the games. Maybe we'll get to find out in MKA.

By the way... I dunno if it was stated already or not (i didn't really read many of the other posts), but being "immortal" doesn't mean you can't die. All that means is that you can't die of old age or other natural causes.

maybe Kahn is the last of his species, and he wears the helmet so no one knows what he really is or what he looks like, kind of like Boba Fett from Star Wars, who is the only clone during the days of the Empire and no one knows it because he wears the helmet

That's exactly how Kahn took over Edenia..I have no idea where that other guy got that info...unless it was part of Malibu comics (I think that was the publisher). And those weren't canon stories either.

He's looks a little Tarkata-ish. He's probably just a one-of-a-kind deal.
