Should Nightwolf carry Raiden's torch? Should any former MK3 character even get developed this time?

Temp made some good points, As did some other people... By the way Temp, You're welcome (reference to your "cult" scenario)
I could see Nightwolf being the wise guide whome everyone comes to... But he couldn't "Fully" take over as Raiden's replacement, Fujin should be the Earth's new guardian. Fujin, Though possibly millions of years old, Just isn't mature enough nor really seems to have the leadership skills in order to guide the Humans and their allies. But Nightwolf does, And everything doesn't have to be done by one person. Sub-Zero and his clan (though focussing on sub-zero) Can be Earth's new "Hero". Along with his ally Smoke, And possibly Kabal. Though i'd like to see Scorpion take some part in Earth's salvation in some way, He could finally ally with Sub-Zero... Even though a die-hard Scorpion fan like mysef would rather him be the main "Hero", But to me it seems that it's a 50/50 toss-up between him and Sub-Zero at the moment.

One theme I've noticed in this thread: I'm definitely not the only one who thinks that John Tobias' departure was actually beneficial for MK. Granted, he helped make MK what it is, but by the time MK4 was completed, his character designs had become stale and repetitive.

Sub-Zero would be able to promote the Lin Kuei as the centre of protecting the Earth if he became either the leader or hero, it might even overshadow the white lotus society, there's a lot of changes that would happen if Raiden stepped down.
I completely agree.
I think all these characters disserve to play a more important role in the story then the ones they had before.
I think perfect examples are Nightwolf, Tanya, Ermac and Kabal.
I dont blame anyone since I dont know the team, but Im hoping they do a much better job in the stories.
Excellent thread Temp.

I completely agree! At the Fight Night chat MK5.org (that was the site's name at the time) had after MK: DA's release, Vogel said something about hating that fact that Cage was killed and brought back, so he wrote his MK: DA story to contradicte it, saying it was all a part of his movies and he had never really died.
This is also why I think Liu Kang won't be returning in his same form, because Vogel doesn't like that. He's a much better writer, but I hope he interacts the fighters' stories together better than he did in MK: DA. Severeal characters (Mostly Cage, again) didn't really add to the story, much. I like the fact that Vogel's repairing Tobias' mistakes, and I hope he gets to be an even better writer in the coming games.
