I think you're reading into this too much...its just a game I dont think they'll bother with small stuff like that. They'll go all out on Mk9.

Ed Boon said that if MK vs DCU was to be somewhat put into the MK timeline (wich is a highly ridiculous thought), it would best fit the time between MK2 and 3. I assume he said this because between MK2 and 3, Shang Tsung fits the appearence he has in MK vs DCU, Sub Zero still uses his masked costume, Liu Kang is still alive etc. but he also confirmed that the game is not part of the storyline, and it is better categorized as a "what if" thing, instead of an actuall canon game.

Therefore, this game can never be categorized canon... thank God.

Exactly, nightcrow is right, this game isen't canon Boon just said he would put it between MK2 and MK3 because it got all MK1/MK2 and possibly MK3 characters in it. But it isen't canon. Don't try and turn ppl words, it spreads confusion.

I doubt it. Like people have said this is a whole different game than what would be of the next next mortal kombat. Besides none of it is canon so it wouldn't matter.
