If you factor in my predictions for characters your parallels could work nearly perfectly.

I'm predicting Cage, Kahn, Luthor, and Carkseid are the final characters.

Does everyone in this thread seriously see no problem with saying "Sonya's parallel is Catwoman"? I mean, honestly you don't have a problem grouping two characters that have absolutely nothing in common together?

Yeah, Wonder Woman is a "princess". Kitana is a "princess". But beyond that, the similarities just cease to be. Let's for, a moment, consider what Boon said about where this game would fall in a "what if" timeline, around MK2 times. In MK2, Kitana was more of an anti-hero than an actual hero because she wasn't on the "good" side at that point. This relates a whole lot more to Catwoman, who has a similar storyline, than to Wonder Woman who is the female Superman, prototypically good. Much like who? Sonya. Then people are saying you can compare Sonya and Catwoman based on fighting styles? Since when has Sonya been about grace? Kitana's fighting has always been more about finesse and grace. Sonya has always represented power and control, much again, like Wonder Woman and not like Catwoman.

Anyway, just thought I'd say that. It's surprising how many people are willing to relate Sonya to Catwoman just because they are the only two females left. Catwoman cannot be linked to anyone other than Kitana. Not even Mileena, because Mileena is truly evil and Catwoman is not. You guys have really got to look beyond the fact that Catwoman will have a fatality. That doesn't mean she will be "evil", I don't believe that DC would allow a inaccurate portrayal of one of their characters, and Catwoman being anything like Mileena is completely inaccurate. She relates best to Kitana, because they both started out as not true heroes, and became antiheroes, and later true heroes. Also, they both have romantic links to the main star in their universes. So really, that's a case closed in my opinion.

but besides that you're totally right, catwoman and sonya aren't parallels. but i DO think that kitana and wonder woman are, i actually had the thought of kitana being evil in this game run through my mind but since her background for the render seems to be edenia i brushed it off.

i actually think sonya and GL should be parallels but considering that jax is in the game it'll probably be him.

This greatly hints at Raiden being Superman's parallel.

I think these parallel things are being taken too far (even though they are the basis of the roster?). Okay maybe I just contridicted myself, but it feels like everyone can be linked to everyone.

I don't know if I'd call Wonder Woman the female Superman or prototypically good, at least not anymore. I mean for starters, she is a warrior and the way they write her sometimes she has that *no bullshit* mentality. Her personality also conflicts with Superman's at times and well, she did snap Max Lord's neck after all. Not very prototypical superhero or Superman-like.

I think Wonder Woman and Kitana make better parallels in more than their simply being warrior princesses. They share similar personalities in they're both reserved, stoic, and even-tempered characters. The only major difference between them there is while Wonder Woman is warmer and more compassionate, Kitana appears colder and more melancholy. Both are leaders and diplomatic, both have undertaken missions that seemingly can't be done, and they also have a tendency to push themselves way too hard.

Sonya, on the other hand, represents more "down to Earth" hot-headed heroine. Like Hawkgirl contrasted Wonder Woman in the Justice League cartoon, Sonya contrasts Kitana in that way. I do agree that Catwoman isn't much of a parallel, but I also don't her as a parallel for Kitana either.

This being MK2 Kitana just makes her even MORE like Wonder Woman, not less. Wondy is in no way "prototypically" good. She loves fighting and she is more than willing to kill certain people. Also, parallel doesn't necessarily mean on the same side of the grid. If Kitana were a villain and Wondy were a hero in this game, that would make them not only excellent parallels, but perfect opponents for each other.

Same with Selina and Sonya, their personalities are VERY similar (though Selina tends to make use of her feminine wiles far more than Sonya would even consider doing). Just because they are on opposite sides of the line doesn't mean they aren't parallels.

Kitana/ Batman- They both work theirselves really hard fighting for good which often leads to heavy loads of stress in their lives. Kitana is on a losing streak, but never quits meanwhile Batman is mostly successful, but known to hang up his costume for the last time.

Raiden/ Joker- One is chaotic good and one is chaotic evil. They care deeply for their goals and will carry out their plans no matter the consequence.

Scorpion/ Deathstroke- They are extremely skilled hand to hand combat and with their swords!

Shang Tsung/ Shazam- Shang Tsung will steal souls to get more power and strength, meanwhile Shazam will use the powers of the Gods for his strength.

Sonya/ Green Lanturn- These military badasses are most well known for their ring powers.

Sub-Zero/ Superman- They are both blessed with amazingly unique superpowers and long for their family and past that remains a mystery to them.

Those of you still think Kabal is going to be the parallel to the Flash, I lol in your general direction.

Oh, and for the person who said Liu Kang is an immature jokester...have you ever played Mortal Kombat? Or read or seen or been told anything about it? Because that is the most bizarre misrepresentation of Liu's character that I've possibly ever seen outside of my own comics.
