I would like to have him return as well. I'd prefer his human ninja look over his cyborg look. He should have the costume from MKSM, if he was to return. For Smoke lovers of human form, Smoke can have that costume for his primary look. As for fans of Cyborg Smoke well, they can use him in his alt from MKA, or a newer cyborg look. The elemental Smoke is soooooooo retarted.
However, since Smoke has been a cyborg since MK3, It's doubtful that he could come back as he once was. But who knows, he could return in human ninja form. My hopes are up for you, on wanting your fave to return. If back in human ninja form, I hope he retains the smoke that comes from him (refer to MK2). But way better smoke style, not just circles of smoke.

If Smoke is to return, I think they should continue with his ethereal/elemental look. Have him become more smoke-like... but maybe more resembling a wraith-like being with some cloaks. Sort of like the Phantasm from Batman. I'd rather not see him become human again. Story backtracking can be aggravating.

It wouldn't really be story backtracking. If he can take control of his elemental form, theoretically, he can take any form he wants, and what better form than the one he's most familiar with, his human form.

Smoke should return. If he dosen't, I'll have to question my future interest in the series. Probably not actually, but still i would like to see him back. Everyone wants his human form, i did when i was younger, but even though the MK universe does things that are pretty weird sometimes, like bringing dead people back outta no where, Smoke's story pretty much erases his human form all together. It may be possible for him to construct a human form, maybe like the Terminator, but he will probably be ther ethereal form, or a variation of it, if he comes back.

the smoke charactar has been shit on for long enough. I had a twinkle of hope in my eye when he returned in deception, but i now know that he will never be anything other than a roster booster. just let him go.

If smoke would return I hope he does it in his elemental look. That look made me love smoke, because the pallete swapped one bored me stiff. C'mon, he was a gray scorp, and that's lame.

Why not have all three looks? I mean, he has nano-technology, why couldn't he make himself look human when in fact he's a cyborg? He's a personified cloud of smoke and nano-bots. If he can make himself look like a solid cyborg, why not a human being as well?

I think smoke should return im MK8. Smoke's look in MKSM was tight. I didnt really care for his look in MKA. Now that most of the ninja have their own look, I think he would be a great addition.

But not EVERYONE wants his human form back,i think his nanosuit/ethereal form from MK:A is the best thing that happened to Smoke and if he returns in MK:8,i hope he has the same look but upgraded/revamped.

i would like him as a cyborg more, but i really dont think there gonna bring him back among the characters they do bring.

I must have said this a thousand times, but making Smoke human again would not be a regress in character. In the past, I've noticed that many users think that making him human would involve such a stretch in MK's realism that it would not make sense to even attempt: this is just flat out wrong.

The only thing that would be necessary to make Smoke human again would be to regenerate his flesh. This should be a piece of fucking cake compared bringing characters back from the dead, which has been done more times than I'd like to mention. Furthermore, there are several ways they can do this, technology/sorcery/divinity being the most likely. If reptile can be physically rearranged into a dragon-deity, than the return of Smoke's humanity shouldn't be too difficult.

This is what weirds me out the most: how can making smoke human be a regress but turning him into nano particles is a step up? First of all, it doesn't even make sense! If he's all particles, than what part contains the "self"? Is each one a micro-variation of the character Smoke? How is he even injured? Physical impact wouldn't do much good to a cloud of electronic molecules. The whole idea of a nano-particle character is a logical mess.

Really, there is no point in reviving smoke in MK8 if he's just going to be a hollow shell. When I asked for Smoke to return in MKD, I was referring to the character in essence, which is a living, CONSCIOUS being. If Smoke is anything other than that, I'm seriously not interested in seeing him in MK8. I miss him dearly, but seeing my character be bitched by someone who had a mediocre story for almost four straight games is more than I can bear.

I Would LOVE for Smoke to return. AS NINJA Smoke.. Not a half cyborg, half elemental, half human (manbearpig).. I want Flesh and blood human smoke.. 99% of smoke fans have wanted this since Mortal Kombat 2.. instead we got a cyborg.. then we were teased with his human form in trilogy.. then we got a cyborg elemental thing.. PLEASE, why not just give smoke fans what they want? I would be TOTALLY happy if he had is EXACT MK2 costume.. BAM Smoke fans Happy.

His best friend is SubZero who is super powerful with the medalion thingie.. I bet Subby has the power to destroy the mechanical part of Smoke and restore him.. Thats an easy way to end the struggle between them.. subzero has his friend back.. and Smoke fans are happy with the character they have wanted since 1993 or whenever mk2 came out.

I love Smoke in all his forms,but my fav is his MK:SM costume. It just rocked. But as far as seeing him return in MK8 I"m a lil undecided on that because after all I want to know what happened with the Subzero/Noob story which he's a part of by being Noob's bitch since Deception,but he doesn't really serve any real purpose in the big picture so what the hell is he gonna be doing now! I don't really see him returning because he's just a cool pee-on and sadly that's about it! I will miss him if he's not but damn all things must end.

I like him better as a human ninja. His cyborg design in MKA kicked ass too. I didn't mind his etheral design, but I didn't like the mask design and his suit barely had any grey, his signature color. Why can't he be human again? The Terminator did it !!!

When Human Smoke was in UMK3, he was portrayed as human because that's how he remembered himself best. It was an ode to his old self. I would like to see that return. I don't know how Ed Boon considered the elemental design to be a ninja design. He was way off.

Well, what they could do to involve an "almost Human Smoke costume" is that smoke is regaining his memory of his past. As the memory of what he formerly looked like, they could make a somewhat transparent/holograph looking form of "Human Smoke" as a costume to indicate that he may remember the times he was human and this could open up the possibility in the storyline for him becoming human again.

I would like to see both human smoke and human reptile return. smoke is way cooler as a human ninja. reptile's devolving goes with the story but hopefully his ending from mka transfers to mk8 where he returns to human form from finding the female zateran.
