A cyborg is a bionic human, or part man, part machine.

That's what Sektor, Cyrax, and Smoke always were: humans with bionic implants, hence cyborgs. They were never completely bionic or complete robots. Cyrax was still a cyborg in Deadly Alliance, but he regained his human psyche.

Anyway, I think the idea of Smoke being a puff of Smoke or Blaze-like character is retarded. I mean how many people were pissed were Smoke got automated? Imagine what they're going to say if Smoke turns out to be a cloud of Smoke...

Anyway, Smoke rocks. Sure he's not the most original of characters, but he's fun to play with, especially in MK 3 where he was ubber bad-ass (in his cybernetic form of course; I thought Human Smoke was a waste of space personally). I really enjoyed his story in MK 3 and I think it would be great if Smoke came back in Deception to aid his buddy Sub-Zero against the Tekunin threat.

With all, and do seriously mean all due respect, do you people even read the front page anymore? GAME INFORMER CONFIRMED HIS PRESENCE IN THE GAME! It was the German Playstation magazine that made the Noob/Smoke referrence. This information is indisputable, so unless you have sources greater than Game Informer, don't even bring it up.

Really, the whole idea of implementing Smoke or Ermac as part of the deception makes me sick to my stomach. These characters have such good story potentials with Kenshi and Subzero. If we were to flush that, the stories which gave them so much depth(or at least potential depth, for Ermac), would vanish. I'm not saying they won't be evil in the game, as it's very possible. But let's please not destroy what I love most about Smoke.

I always considered MKD to be the sequel to MKDA, not a remake. I would rather see the same storylines from Deadly Aliance continued, rather than older ones brought back.

As for what you said about Frost, I think she had more depth than Smoke. All Smoke has going for him is the "I'm Sub-Zero's friend." thing. This would mean killing off Sareena and Frost just to bring Smoke back. Frost could have had so man good storylines.

Anyway, think about it. Subbie's already got Sektor gunning for him, Frost probably planning to kill him, and Sareena too, sooner or later. Plotwise, it wouldn't make sense for Smoke to turn on him - his bio for the game would be four pages long. No, I think what with his new role as Sifu, Subbie needs to take one thing at a time. The Tekunin, Frost and Sareena are already enough. Smoke should be there to support Sub-Zero, in return for, perhaps, a safe haven within the new Lin Kuei.

Or you never know; they could take Smoke away from Sub-Zero entirely, have him focus on his own personal desires. Lord knows, we all thought Scorpion and Sub-Zero's storylines would be intertwined forever. Now they have next to nothing to do with one another.

Regarding 'the deception' itself - consider what we know: next to nothing.

Fact 1) The trailer states that "someone plans to abuse a trust, to conquer all that they see" or something similar, more or less. Throughout this, we see a menacing pair of reptilian eyes. Logically, we could assume that the Dragon King, once Reptile, abuses a trust someone placed in him. Thing is, who the hell trusts Reptile? Perhaps Shang Tsung? He WAS his personal bodyguard, after all. Maybe that's why Tsung's missing, and the alliance is finished; The DK's behind it. Not much, but it's a theory

Fact 2) Mileena and Baraka are pissed at each other. That's all we know. She probably wouldn't sleep with him any more, or something. >_>

It seems that people are taking the phrase "The Deception" as an umbrella term which enfolds all of the characters. We don't know that, and that's a big stretch, IMO. Don't know about you guys, but if every character in the game decieves or is decieved by their ally/master/pet dog than I'll be kinda dissapointed. I think it's safe to say that some people, the primary characters, will have been decieved, but not everyone.

*Sigh* Add to all this a Black Dragon chick (haven't they all been dead for 10 years?), a netherrealm spy (who's he serving now?), an ex-Black Dragon left for dead twice, a special forces agent, a being composed of souls who was freed by said SF sgent, a demon huntress, a native american, and a corpse which belonged to the MK champion, and we have one thing: confusion.

smoke was a kick ass character he totally has to be in make him kinda look like cyrax's alt. costume but white with a face mask the traditional ninja Y kinda thing but made of polished silver and lots of kinda thine smoke swirling aroud him

his alt. costume should be like the robots from mk3

spec. moves should be the trident spear but it shoots out of a whinch that pops out of his arm

his teleport moves he should get covered in smoke and dissapear then nail the opp. in a giant smokey hit

he should gang up with scorpion and noob in the netherrealm after mkda and escape towreak revenge on the lin kuei leaders until he finds out that he has attack subby and he rejoins the lin kuei to fihgt the dragon king alondside his new and old allies

Smoke is my absolute favorite character I'm glad hes back

Remember that characters have 3 costumes.
So Smoke wouldnt have just an elemental smoke form ( that is, if he has it lol )

I think Smoke should come back with different motives.In my character spec thread I had Smoke tell Sub-Zero that, if their paths cross again, Sub-Zero may be on the recieving end of Smoke's fist. Now before any starts telling my that since Smoke and Sub-Zero are best friends and wouldn't willingly hurt each other hear me out. Smoke has been gone for almost six years, there's no telling what could've happened to him. Remmeber, that all though Smoke has a soul it doesn't men that he is in full control of his body. So I'm hoping that Smoke does return but not as Sub-Zero's best friend initally.

Well so far there have been 2 ideas on how Smoke will look.
1.He will be a human shaped ball of smoke
2.He’ll be he’ll still be a cyborg but have more human parts showing
But I think that there could be a 3rd option that they could go after.
3.On his travels through the Outworld he came across a Symbiote that merged with Smoke this would probly give him a more beast like appearance and would open up even more story ideas like he’s slowly going insane because of the Symbiote and is trying to find Sub-Zero because he’s the only person Smoke knows that he can trust
But that is the only other idea I can think of that would be totally different from his past looks.

Here is my idea for Smoke's possible ending in MK Deception:

Scorpion wins against Quan Chi in mortal kombat he is finally at peace, but there is one thing left for him to do. He sees a cloud of Smoke forming in shape of a human, Scorpion sees the despair in his eyes, Smoke didn't want to be smoke itself. Scorpion knows what he must do, he will live on in this warrior and help him on his journeys, since he is a friend to the younger Sub-Zero in which Scorpion is supposed to protect. Scorpion offers his life and turns into a ring. Smoke puts it on and he's back to his human form. The ring is in the shape of a scorpion, it does glows for a bit, Scorpion is happy of what he's accomplished and will live on in Smoke. Smoke meets up with Sub-Zero:

"Whats that on your index finger, Smoke?"

"It's Scorpion, he offered his life to me."

"Why?"

"Because I am your best friend, Sub-Zero. I will serve you well in the Lin Kuei."

I'm intrested in seeing Smoke return in a liquid metal form like the T-1000 and the T-X Terminator. He could have a pretty badass look and a cool luster. Plus it might work as a plus for the graphics engine if they coul make reflective mapping on a liquid metal body. I'd also like him to comeback as a bunch of nano bots, I think somebody said this already.

Liquid?? I dont find that a good idea. Maybe him being all Smoke might be a good idea. I really dont know but Smoke's return really makes me wanna play as him in MKD.
