Smoke NEEDS smoke attacks in MKD - EXAMPLES inside

I say he is one of the few classic characters (The only one actually) who needs to have none of his old moves back. None. He needs to be original. |
Originality is the key with Smoke. He had the potential to be that way but they never used it. And thanks Queve.
I like the moves you've listed Tgrant. Most are very befitting.
Tack one more on to preserve one of his classic moves:
The trident harpoon:
Like it was with his cyber form, but in a twist to make it different from Scorpion's he should hurl his snagged opponent behind him instead of pulling them in for a combo. Would inflict some damage and have nasty deathtrap potenial. Smoke has his back pushed up to a deathtrap when suddenly; Whoosh! His opponent is thrown into it for letting their guard down.
What do ya think? Good idea or still too Scorpion like for your taste?

Good idea! My only concern is that the com would abuse it! But I like it!
Yeah, Smoke should definately have something other than a sword for a weapon.
Tgrant has brought up a distrurbing notion: cheap Midway AI and deathtraps could be a royal pain. Lot of frustrated players are going to be using continue after continue being stuffed into deathtraps by the com and its unnatural reflexes>:O
Of course being able to bypass annoying com matches by whacking the annoying com into a trap and cutting the bout short will be a plus
The satifing crush of cheeseball com player going splat in a trap will be quite forfilling

All great ideas, that would be a kick ass character!
| tgrant Wrote: Since Smoke is in MKD, I think its time his abilities were used a little more. They have been virtually ignored in the past imo. Since he has smoke abilities, he should be able to use them in combat. The Teleport Uppercut he had could be performed with him rising out of a smokey cloud and you see his fist and the rest of his body can be hazy. His fist should have a smoke cloud around it. And given that Konqrr and others have said that he will return in neither cyborg, nor human form, Im hoping hell be a smokey aura with bits of human and cyborg patches over his body. I think itd look cool. Plus, the Mist Punch move below would then be perfect for him. Smokes new special attacks. Projectile Invincibility Firstly, he should have the ability to become smoke. This would give him his first new special move. As smoke, the projectile would just go through him. What would be cool is if it was just his chest that became smoke whilst his legs an head stayed solid. The smokey torso would have the projectile pass right through. Also, if a parrying system was introduced, instead of Smoke deflecting an attack, he could turn the part of the body being aimed at into smoke, which would maybe send the opponent off balance and counter attack that way. Mist Punch/Kick My second idea is that he has the Mist Punch/Kick move I created before. His fist or foot becomes mist and diffuses across the arena and becomes solid right in their face delivering a nicely damaging blow. That of course would be a speedy attack. Choke/Veil Use a smokey haze, Smoke can render the opponent immobile by making them choke on the smoke or veiling their vision for a short while allowing for a free attack. The enemy can be seen coughing and spluttering or even trying to waft the smoke away. Combo Ring Basically Smoke becomes a smokey ring around the opponent. You see the ring moving up and down and the camera will spin around the opponent showing Smokes hands and feet and maybe even his head appearing and attacking the enemy in all places and from all sides. Teleport Well, why not? He becomes smoke and diffuses across the arena. And if you want to be unoriginal, add the punch or kick to make it similar or the same as Scorpion. I wouldnt though. Dashing Haze This is a dash attack. Basically, smoke charges at the opponent. They go to retaliate either by blocking attacking or whatever. As he nears them he phases out into smoke, appears behind them and attacks from behind. This could be a cool combo opener. Your thoughts and ideas? |

This one seems a little too similiar to Nightwolf's Projectile Sheild from MK3 but the others all seem like good ideas.

This is nothing like Nightwolf's Projectile reflect.
Nightwolf = Reflects projectile back at opponents.
Smoke = Projectile flies through Smoke harmlessly.
I don't see any similarity. The ONLY thing they have in common is that they protect the fighter from projectile attacks.
I thought a cool fatality would be liek shang tsungs fatality, but smoke turns into a misty clous and enters their body whereupon the person freaks out and stumblws holding their head. Then, you see smokes fingers come out of their skull then he slowley rips them in half.

That's why I said it was a LITTLE too similar
not it's the same.
