Some new MK Shaolin Monks details *spoilers*

I got the new issue of Game Informer which has the 10 page "shaolin monks" cover story in the mail today. Here are some new details that no one mentioned:

It shows a sketch of an unmasked Kabal before he was mutilated by Kahn's extermination squads. The game takes place during the MK2 era, so this makes sense. He's either gonna be a secret playable character or maybe a boss in Shaolin Monks.

The original living tree concept from MK2 is included in the game. Players can be impaled by their living branches. (it shows an in-game pic of kung lao being impaled)

The druids(shadow priests) can heal your enemies so make sure to take them out first.

Ermac is in the game as a secret boss. The article states that he's one of the hardest bosses in the game, and he must be defeated in order to unlock subzero as playable character.

One of the boss fights involves Reptile riding on the back of a giant snake. Once you take the snake down, you then face Reptile in 1 on 1 kombat.

It shows an in-game pic of kung lao facing off against Smoke. Smoke looks a like a human ninja with wide black straps, a grey body suit and a silver plated mask. He's also emitting smoke from his body.

One of Liu kang's fatalities was revealed: He Uppercuts his opponent's head off then the camera pans around 360 degrees matrix style and he then bicycle kicks the falling head at the decapitated body.

What exactly is this Shaolin Monks game? Is it going to be a normal MK fighting game or is it going to be more along the lines of Mythologies?

Yaa umm UltimateKen was it a normal fighting game or was it a adventure game and umm it is going to be on PS3 and XBOX 2 right???

It has been said in the past that Shaolin Monks will be an action/adventure game.

Sounds hott so far.

wow Liu's finisher sounds crazy... anyway does the game look better or the same as MKD?

It sounds to me like MK Shaolin Monks may actually just be MK2 In-Depth, as in they're going to tell MK2 as it really happened.

I hope I'm wrong, though. I want a totally original story.

Sounds kick-ass, though.

I take back any doubts I had on MK:SM. I checked out the GAMEINFORMER, and it looks f*cking kick A$$!!!! Mortal Kombat is doing what it's supposed to be doing and sticking with the MKII/3 look. They're also doing more comics/toys with the same types of colors used in their older games. My gosh, am I happy. gringringringringringringringringringringringringringringringringringrin

I hope it's going to be the last Mk game on this current generation of systems, with Mortal Kombat 7 to be on teh next gen systems. I want this game, but I ain't about to shell out $300+ for a new machine and a new game.grinsmile

Good info, but here is some stuff you forgot *SPOILERS*




In the Dead Pool, not only can you hit them in to the acid, but like the rumor of MKII said, you can hit them on the hooks, too.

Everybody in the backgrounds (like the shadow priest in The Portal and The Tower) will now attack you.

People like Johnny Cage will team up with you and help you along the way.

There is a boss fight in which you take on Kitana, Mileena, and Jade at once.

Some stuff can only be unlocked when you are doing Co-op play.

In a drawing, it says there is an idea where you hit the opponent on a wall of spikes, and then use their body to get to a higher ledge or wall.

The Pit makes an appearance.

You can upgrade your Fatalities and Special Moves with Exp. points, and I think it says there is a main menu screen with the option to do so.

Im thinking we might also see the origins of Noob Saibot in this game. The article says Shaolin Monks takes place right after Mk1 and up to the end of MK2. This is when we were first introduced to Noob and he was a secret character in MK2.
Actually, we already know his origins from his ending in MKD, but I bet it will probably go more in depth about it in this game.

They said that they did not want it like Ninja Gaiden, where you kill, kill, kill. They said they wanted some different elements in the game.

Oh it does? My bad, then. Hahaha. I guess it won't be MK2 In-depth. Still, I dunno. I just hope they keep it in continuity with what was going on at the time. Mk Konquest was good, but they messed up.
