Some thoughts on Kitana in MK:D, and why we want her :)

Well I guess I'm in the minority, but I loved Kitana's moveset in DA. Her Eagle Claw & Ba Gua styles were both extremely graceful AND lethal - perfect for a Princess of her stature. Her attacks were fast, her movements elegant, and her styles undoubtedly matched her personality. I think both styles were very interesting, and it would be a shame to be missing the character or her martial styles in MK6... Not to menion her awesome ass-kicking fans, which are real weapons, and 'real perfect' for Kitana.

Same goes for Nitara's Fu Jao Pai (Tiger Claw) and Leopard Style(s). When you're a martial arts fan - not just a fighting gamer - you'll appreciate the variety, and realism, a lot more than the guts & goofiness (though they're certainly part of MK's charm :D)

Not to mention Kitana's cool-factor. Ageless princess of a distant realm? Come on, beats Sonya's boring (and ludicrous) 'tough special forces chick.' (Not to bash Sonya ;)

I'm in the minority here, but I buy fighters as much for the characters as the gameplay. With Scorpion and Sub-Zero in it, the main men are locked down. But Kitana, who I consider an important female lead, is as yet undetermined, although Mileena and Sindel would either suggest that Kitana's not far behind, OR that they've replaced her altogether.

Hopefully the former. I'd love to see Kitana's elegance transferred into a newer graphical style, and her old rivalry with Mileena taken to the next level. Not to mention that her mother's back, so who wouldn't want to see that pair together in their first game in 10 years? After all, there's nothing wrong with more characters, right? Who'd be dumb enough to hope a character is *not* in it?! :D

We know of only about 10 characters who are in it for sure. Given the size of MK:DA's cast, it's safe to assume we've got around another 15 to be revealed yet. Notice that most of those revealed in the PSM issue are characters that haven't been seen in the franchise in quite awhile - characters NOT in MK:DA. Makes perfect sense, from a hype/marketing perspective. I think we'll see many faces from MK:DA returning, as well as a batch of new ones.

I just hope - and believe it likely - that Kitana is one of them.

I do agree Kitana is one cool character. It would actually be nice to see her back, but apart from her weapons in MKDA, I think she sucked. (I love the steel fans!)

About her story, I only liked it in Mk2 and MKU, since then it has been so boring. I think her story isnt any strong, its just about being the typical princess that fights for her people, though I like the age thing.

About her character concept design, I love it. She has one of the coolest MK outfits ever. I love her mask.

But I think that maybe, she wont return to MKD, since we have Sindel, Mileena and the return of another female warrior that is linked to them. Her story seems weak against these characters.

But yes, I would want Kitana back in MKD. She is one of my faves.

Anyway, I think Kitana is cool, but like many said, with Sindel and Mileena back, maybe Kitana is just not that important.

I think Kitana isnt really what you could call a classic. Like someone said, she has only been in Mk2 and MkDA as a choice character and not a last minute option. She is pretty weak compared to Sonya, I do agree I like her age story, but thats about it, other then that she is boring.

Sonya plays a bigger role to the story, and she has been in every game (I know, not playable in Mk2). The tough chick, sarcastic attitude is actually one of the things that make Sonya so perfect.

Dont get me wrong, I really like Kitana, her steel fans are simply beautiful and deadly (her other styles sucked badly in MKDA), and her look is awesome, but she is weak when it comes to Sonya, Sindel and Mileena.

But yes, I think Kitana should return.

And look at it this way, guys... with Mileena and Sindel both returning, now is the *perfect* time to rewrite Kitana's story and turn it into something really intriguing again! Mileena and Sindel are both pivotal parts of Kitana's story - I can't imagine they'd drop her now, as it's the PERFECT opportunity to get her back in the action, now more than ever!!

I think and hope she will be back. With Mileena and Sindel in one game, thats perfect. And if thats so then the chances are high that Shao Kahn will be back too because he is also linked to these three characters.

Oh and correct me if i'm wrong but i believe i read something about every clasic charater would have every special move back they ever had and more. I thought someone on this forum wrote that but i'm not sure. But that would be very cool, then Kitana would have some more usefull special moves then she did in MKDA.

anyway.. I love them 3, and want them... respecting their story... it could easily be closely linked...
and people say they are too similar...

I agree with most people that say Kitana is pretty weak in story. But I think she should return. I only hope (if she is back), she is at least granted more special moves!

Sindel, Sonya and Mileena are much better then Kitana IMO.

since sindel is back and millena i have no doubt that they are going for kitanas pretty head so kitana needs someone to watch her back like either sonya or jade,not to mention baraka might try to help millena.i cant wait to see kitana and sindel go at it after all its been a long time since weve seen these chicks all in the same game,its finnaly here.

And yeah, me too. It's the perfect game for this trio to return. It's an awesome chance to write Kitana back into the storyline in a big way (and c'mon, seriously, she IS a fan favorite), and with Mileena after her, and her mother there, too... I smell catfight...

As for the lady kicking Kenshi - that looked to me like the same character featured in the picture of the woman holding the si (who looked like Lei Mei if I didn't knnow better, but I'm assuming is Mileena).

Either way... bring back the Kitana love. In a cast of 25, having Kitana, Mileena, and Sindel in one game would be a huge asset for fans, who generally love all three, and offer many intriguing storyline possibilities as well. The fact that there are another 22 characters or so only makes it better ;)

kitana is by far the best mk character ever created!!! now i do agree that her story is dumb..but who cares? why is the story so important? only thing important to me is how they fight AND their moves..etc the story is just icing on the cake,not the most important thing..most mk characters have lame dumb stories anyway..but like i said, who cares?..its a fighting game, not a role playing game!!!!!

now in mkda she was not as strong and tough like in previous mk's (in mk 2, ed and john said she was the strongest character,they also said liu kang but i hate him) she was only able to throw the fans once, once u did that she lost her fan wave and her weapon style 3 moves just like that,dumb!!! every 1 else in mkda were able to throw projectiles all the time..her eagle claw moves are good but the other 1 pa?.. sucked
she has to be in mkd...i just hope she can throw her fans when ever,until u choose to shoove it in some 1... i hope they give her a new style to go along with eagle claw and the weapon....

i think its kitana shown kicking kenshi in one of the pics in the PSM article. she is also shown on the board game, even though its the MK:DA version of her.

How can you guys say Kitana's martial arts in MK:DA sucked? :D

I rocked with her. I thought they were both powerful AND, more importantly to the character, graceful as hell. She had the unique Ba Gua stance, where she went up on one leg in a defensive posture, and could back-handflip as a retreat... And her Eagle Claw form was awesome, dropping down low, with her arms wide - it's an aggressive posture, but it's also a very elegant style. I think Kitana's two martial art styles in MK:DA were the most distinctive and exotic to watch - and perfect befitted her character. Add to them her fans, and presto - you had exotic, elegant forms, with an exotic, elegant weapon, on an exotic, elegant woman... who happens to be an ageless princess from another world.

C'mon, that's priceless, man :) If any MK character's got a cooler background than Kitana, I ain't met 'em yet ;)

Kitana's my girl. Second favorite overall. Everyone has their charcaters that the NEED to come back. For me, it's Scorpion and Kitana. I'm not saying I'll refuse to buy MK:D because Kitana's not in it, or I'll petition them to bring her back; I'll just disappointed.

Kitana's fighting styles in MK:DA are underrated for their defensive power. After playing as her a while I realized she was more of a defensive fighter than offensive and if you could take advantage of that, she's pretty good.
Her special moves left much to be desired however.

I always liked Kitana, for starters, I thought her moves were cool and she (or more acuratley the actresses playing her)were hot. She's still hot (for a video game character).
Also, because IMO she is one of the deeper characters and has a genuine and believable motivaton for fighting: redemption.

Although, I agree Kitana's story has lagged recently, but that's not to say they can't come up with something for her to do. In another thread I suggested maybe she could form an uneasy alliance with Mileena to fight the Dragon King, which'd be interesting in a Spider-Man/Venom or Goku/Vegeta kind of way.

Actually, I'm very good with Kitana, but she isnt special in MKDA.

Her steel fans are her best! I love them, and even though I play good with both of her other styles, she is just weak.

Kitana was at her best in Mk2 and MkU. She was even a top tier (I think) in MKGold! But she was bad in MKDA.

But I really like her.
