Yeah I hear some people saying that.... Me myself I disagee with that,,, Yeah I have played all of tekken games and is looking forward to playing Tekken5... But I don't think it will comes close to mortal kombat deception... yeah Tekken have good combos and I like some of their Characters.... What I Don't Like about Tekken games is- the story line is not that good,,, every new Tekken game fight the same as the last,,, their body don't bleed,,, they fall down like bricks and move slow... So No I really don't think tekken is better that Mortal Kombat Deception.... do any of you guys agree... If not than tell me Why and What is so special About Tekken Games... And What do it have that Mortal Kombat Deception Don't... Hey I Really Want to Know Because I have Played All Of Tekken Games And I Just Don't See it Beating DECEPTION... WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ???smile

I got tekken 4 the other day (hired it) and boy was it SLOW and boring. MKDA is alot more fun and I think faster. MKD will OWN tekken5 if its anything like 4.

ya im sure deception will own tekken gameplay wise. Even if you dont look at gameplay, Deception has online play. The only good thing about tekken 5 that Ive heard about is the ability to customize your clothing.

Well I don't think that Tekken 5 is going to be better than MK:D.
Points on Tekken
Tekken looks to have better and more realistic visuals.
It's story seems always seems the same or very very similar.
The new characters are usually always of very high quality.
No blood.
The game has a free movement system.
The ability to customise your appearance
Points on Mortal Kombat
The character models seem cartoonish. Since half of the fatalities don't look even briefly real. (MK is supposed to look cartoony it pokes jokes at itself)
The new characters usually have one standout and the rest are average.
Lots of Blood.
Always has a new story whilst some characters never change.
The three style system is fast and fun which is MK's style.
Chess and Puzzle Kombat increase the gameplay. Not to forget Mini Games
Konquest adventure lets the player become emersed in the MK universe.
Final decision
MK seems more fantasy which interests me more. It has many varied ways of play. The graphics are up to standard.

Tekken is better than MK and Tekken 5 will be better than Deception because:
Mortal Kombat's are "novelty fighting games", they are never made with the intention of being the best fighting game in mind, gameplay is below a lot of gimmicks on the list of important things, eg. fatalities, and things like them that have nothing to do with the in-game fights (remember, they are just in-game cut-scenes, the only input you have is putting the code in to trigger them). This lack of attention on fighting game basics, such as frame properties, ensure that it will never be considered a serious fighting game contender.
Tekken games have always been with the idea of being the best fighter in mind. It actually involves thinking strategies in order to win, contrary to the obvious tactics people use in MK games.
What you have to remember is when MK introduces all these gimmicks and extra modes, while the MK fans such as the ones on this site will see it as something good, general gaming fans will see them as a way of distracting them from the below-averageness of the MK fighting engine.
Although a lot of the fans on here will biasedly say that MK is better, which is fair enough, being MK fans on a MK site and all, but Tekken is a better fighting series and Tekken 5 will be a better game.
As for people saying Tekken is slow, that is because you are crap at Tekken and have not played the game to it's full speed and potential, I can send you links to videos where you can see what even Tekken 4 can really do.

I like your opinion. It gives another side to the story. We could just hear all the MK fans talking MK up and Tekken copping a load on the chin.
I'm going to buy both so I'll give them both a fair go.

While Tekken Tag is still one of my favs.Tekken 4 was a major step backwards imo.I really don't think Tekken 5 is gonna be any better from all I have seen of it.As for outdoing MK:D,it may happen if the gameplay in MK has not been changed much.

I hate when people say a fighting game is 'realistic'. There will never be a fighting game completely realistic to a real fight, ever. Real life martial arts and street fights have so many possibilities that could never be modeled into any of the current fighting engines, so in my mind, there's no point to trying to be realistic if it's going to end up halfassed. Fun is what matters to me, and to tell you the truth, the mortal kombats have always been the most fun fighting series to play (especially with friends).

The Thing I like about deception is that oits so creative. like would u ever think of knocking somone in a meat or rock grinder Cmon thats just Bad ass, plus tekken 4 may have better graphics. but MKD has LOTS OF BLOOD PLUS THE CREATOVNESS, The thing that would change my mind is all the Hara kiri's and fatality's (Blood)furious

tekken 4 was absolute crap. and im sure tekken 5 wont be much better. its way too simplistic. the only fighting game that was better than MK:DA was Soul Calibur 2, but only slightly. MK:D will be better than Soul Calibur 2 without a doubt.

Tekken 5 comes out on Feb 22nd 2005
You guys should be more worried bout Def Jam NY than Tekken 5
Def Jam got high ratings & its a great fighting game *blood, swering, stage fatalitys, real life celebs & so many fighters & stages*
Tekken is also a great game but thats gonna be no problem cause its not comin this year
Tekken is kinda boring with no blood & gore but its a cool game smile
Im sure MKD will beat Tekken 5 in rankings but MKDs only prob is gonna be Dej Jam NY

Tekken = boring.
Also, I heard Def Jam sucked. It totally changed from the old one for the worse. I may rent it just so I can have the pleasure of beating those music "artists" asses.

There will be quite a few people who will like Tekken 5 more than MK: Deception, mainly because of the fighting mechanics. I've played MK and Tekken games for a while. I haven't really been following the development of Tekken 5 like I've been with MK: D, but I do plan on getting both games.
One thing I noticed in here, which is not a surprise btw, is how some state their opinion as fact which annoys me. Personally, I'm most likely going to like MK: Deception more than Tekken and that's mainly because I'm far more of an MK fan than I am a Tekken fan. I prefer the storyline, characters, and ambience of MK. I do like some of the characters in Tekken games, but the storyline and ambience don't impress me that much.
When it comes to the gameplay, I'm pretty sure the gameplay in Tekken 5 will be deeper than MK: Deception, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I'll like the gameplay in Tekken 5 more. When I played some of the earlier Tekken games, there were some really basic things that they haven't seemed to have improved on. What are those things some of you may wonder? Well, that's not important. To me, the MK fighting system needs many improvements and enhancements and I'm sure MK: Deception will have quite a few of those things.
Overall, I'd have to get and play both of these games first and play them both for a while until I can really have a better idea of what I like better in certain areas and such.

Main reason why Tekken is better than MK is because it has a fighting engine that well, to put it bluntly, doesn't suck. Tekken 5 will be a better fighting game, there can be no disputing that really. The only thing really MK has over it currently is the "kontent," i.e. fluff and non-fighting game modes. Gimmicky and almost useless stuff like breakers hurt MK more than most people on the site realise. There's a reason why MK is the laughing stock of the hardcore fighting game genre and it's due to the fact that it doesn't take it's own engine seriously. The MK Team pracitcally admitted it a few months back when they made the other game modes the top priority over the fighting engine.
In all reality though, it's really up to personal opinion on why people think one game is better than the other. There should be no dispute though that Tekken is a better fighter, because it is. MK has more content and more things for you to do outside of fighting, because it does.
That's it.

Tekken has great gameplay but thats about it IMO. The characters are some what interesting but lacking good story plots. I get bored pretty quickly when i play the tekken games since there isnt really much other than the gameplay to keep me playing it. I own all the tekken games so it's not like im judging without any experience with the game. I do think MKD will be better than Tekken 5. MKD has much more content that will keep me playing that game for a long time.

i think the competition will be mkd and DOAU because they both come out the same month, both have online play, and both have fast simple gameplay. i will be getting both so it doesnt bother me.

Wrong! Very wrong, Def Jam Fight for NY is very well made and its play mechanics take skill and timing to pull off some of its finer details in the fighting engine. Its easy to pick up and play yet hard to master its naunces like counters and some combos that involve stunning the opponent and then running to them to go for the extrta damage attack of your choice.
Both Def Jam games are good but this one gives you the option of using a fighter with some grabing capabilities or a full blown wrestler like the original and even something in between those two types. Also when you mix certain styles when creating your fighter you can end up with a hidden style like Jeet kwon do or Drunken Fist. Some of the people that write things about games may want to actually play the game to find out what its really worth before making strange comments about them. I'm not attacking you by the way I'm just puzzled as to why I've read so many negative comments for such a good game.
I will wait to base my opinion about MK:D's final build when I play it as well as Tekken 5. I,ve played all the Tekkens and my favorite is still #2 though Tekken Tag is the better game and another close favorite as well. Truthfully none of us at this point will know if Tekken 5 or MK:D will be the next big thing until we play the final build of each game. All it takes is one game-breaking move to ruin a game for me,(e.g) Roll cancelling, backdash cancelling, abusable moves, custom-combos in Alpha 2, K-groove (lol!smile) Just kidding about K-groove but is is too powerful. But its still fun to try and beat people when they using using unfair advantages!
Take care.

Having beaten Def Jam ffny two times over already, while it is a good game with great mechanics,it was very boring the second time through.I don't think It's gonna get boring to beat deception over and over(at least I hope not).

The only thing I would like is that MK characters would have a more realistic look like the ones in Tekken 4. They need to be larger on the screen, just a little zoom in, you know..
