Just rent and play both.
This is the best idea... if you can buy both, do it, I think that you can find great prices in eBay. I want to buy my PE of MKA, but I don't live in USA.
I dont have enough money to rent both, then buy one full, maybe its just damnm expensive in denmark.
I think renting a game and buying deception costs the same since its so old... good idea though, but you reminded me that they both only cost... well i cant convert it to dolars im not good at that, but they cost less both than a shiny new game.
I dont think i could get both first, my guess was start whit deception, since its cheapest?
keep the facts coming xD

I am happy with Armageddon Roster, like anyone else... and the gameplay wasn't bad either... however, when all was said and done, Deception left me much more satisfied overall then Armageddon did... I can't really explain it... it was just a feeling... Buoth great games... but Deception blew me away... Armageddon left me wanting...
Deception seemed to have more staying power. Konquest was far less linear, and you could spend hours in it putzing around... it actually took time to unlock everything, wheras if you do 1 complete konquest run in armageddon... that's it... everything unlocks... you're done...
Plus no stories/crappy endings in Armageddon didn't help...
I think the best part of Armageddon was konquest, but like everything else, it was over too quick...
Deadly Alliance and Deception I played for months afterward... Armageddon I honestly haven't touched since the 1st week I got it... not because I protest it or anything, I just... haven't had a desire to play it since i finished everything that 1st week... *Shrug* Couldn't tell ya why...

I only advise you to get MKA just for the large roster. As far as story, mini games, regular fatals ect. Stick to deception and Deadly Alliance.
If you just want sheer brutality, go with MKA, it's got some gruesome Death Traps, arena interaction, and almost every character in the series. If you are just looking for a MK game to have fun with, not worry about story, or anything like that, and are into sheer brutality, then get MKA, it even lets you deciede what limb to rip off during your fatality!

I know MKD has a better storyline, but really, what is the point of getting into storyline now when this whole series of MK is ending? If story is an issue, just visit www.wikipedia.com and read up on it there.
Also, the fact that one game is more broken then the other shouldn't matter to you. You said you dont go online and you will probably button mash - I would assume that means that you are not too serious about the game and dont play at a very high level. So, though it will make a small difference, the impact won't be that big about which game is more broken. Also, I would assume things like air cancels and stuff wouldnt make much sense to you any way, so disregard that.
I personally think that MKA would be better for you. It is more fun to play with the larger selection of characters, really cool Konquest mode, Kreate a Kharacter and even Kreate a Fatality is cool. MKD was also fun, but not as much. I think you would just enjoy MKA more. If you have doubts, rent both first then decide.

I perfer mkd. I hate only 2 styles. I perfer 3 i see more expermentation being done with different juggles with 3 styles. I hate 2 it's f'n boring. That's why now in mka i only play as like maybe 4 ppl bo, cage, stryker, and kahn.
I actually went back to mkd and found myself on there more hours then i spent on mka. Only side effect of mkd now day's is the cheesers.
Don't get me wrong mka is cool and stuff. But the characters feel different. Like raiden i use him in mka i input sparky forgetting he dont have it anymore.
I seriously wish mka would have kept the 3 styles. They actaully deducted styles such and raiden's Jujutsu and hsu hao's Shuai Chiao. And as if that wasn't enuff they ruined some of the ppl's original style. Example. Nightwolf that popup kick he had for Valtudu? can't rember his mka style atm. Anyway in mkd he has it but in mka nope. Kenshi aswell most of his stuff is rigged. 3 style's made me feel like a force because if my oppent online couldn't keep up with my fast pace juggling style he was done for. MKA It's way different. I can own with Bo though in mka. That's my right hand man.

To throw in my 2 cents.
MK:D isnt as good as MK:A. For one the 3 fighting styles for each fighter just makes the game clunky. MK:A cleared all that trash up when they spread the fighting styles across all the fighters.
One hand style and one weapon style is what DA and D should of had.
MK:A is faster, when playing online a match with a good player is a combo fest. Where as in Deception it was slow with alot of circle straffing and clunky broken combos with the 3 styles.
MK:A has all the fighters you can want, your bound to find 10 + that you like and can learn to use well. And being able to create your own fighter isnt a bad thing.

KAK is kick ass,63 characters is da bom, motor kombat is insanely addictive and the konquest mode is SO good.
Sure MKD has better endings, but I think MKA is all in all a much better game

2 more things
1) Konquest kicks MKD konquests ass
2) Motor Kombat would probably be a better mini game then chess and puzzle.
Honestly, how can anyone go back to Deception after Armageddon?
KAK alone had more replay value than anything Deception had to offer. Armageddon's konquest was ten times more fun while Deception felt like a chore when going back.
I do miss hari karis, but doing 2 fatalities per character gets pretty damn boring as a finisher in Deception.
The old MK games had so many ways to end an opponent - babiality, animality, brutality, fatality, friendship. Armageddon had ENDLESS WAYS to torture your opponent.
I agree about the story, WHY PAY FOR A STORY WHEN YOU GET IT FREE AT WIKIPEDIA
And look at some of the top fighting game players... Alex Valle PLAYS MORTAL KOMBAT ARMGEDDON.
Deception never had buzz like this. Ever.

As of now, I think that I like Deception better.
It had character specific fatalities, it had hara kiris, the mini games were far better and the konquest story was far better even if konquest itself wasnt as fun.
The game actually had endings worth beating the game to get. And personally I think thegraphics look better in deception. The stages were more interesting and characters had 2 fighting styles and one weapon style which gave characters more depth.
MKD over MKA.
