I'll have to agree with this one. I think the primary outfit is cool. But seriously what the hell is with him being bald and that pony tail growing out of his bald head.

I really don't like his costume. The one with the samuri is pretty cool but they need to bring back the ninja outfit.

I actually expected it to look like his primary from MK:DA, but this? Eeeew. Now we know why he wears the helmet.

its original. i was getting bored of the same old masked subzero in every game. maybe you should appreciate the effort the designers are taking to be original in character design

I'm not a big fan of it yet. Everytime I see him in it I just want to take a pair of scissors and cut the ponytail off. I guess I'll grow to like it in time. It is original after all.

I dont really see what the big deal is. I personally love his alt. He looks like a true martial arts master.

I love his alt. I like it more than his shredder look.

I think it's an amazing design, probably one of the most original designs MK has ever pulled off, and it really just shows how some people are so closed to new ideas.

Mabe they would have three costumes total for each character. This way Sub-Zero could have his Ninja costume back.

I still agree, though. The whole bald head with the white pony tail just doesn't do it for me. People are justifying it by saying "well, it's original and refreshing", but I doubt they'd say that if Scorpion took so radical a character change.

I think that Sub-Zero should lose Shotokan and gain Iron Monkey to show homage. It would fit his Chinese Assasin clans background, and it would compliment his Dragon style nicely

The remake of the old school Iron Monkey = One of the best kung-fu flicks of all time.

I like if they had Subs outfit from MK2 the exaclty the same one have you notice the alt oufits in mkda where not idenctical to the old ones at all. Example shang tsung was suppose to have the old of from mk2. But the straps and the pants where different it didnt really look the same at all its to bad that was one of my old favs from MK2.

I may be going out on a limb here, but it think the new look is probably because the sub-zero in MK:D is the clasic sub-zero from MK1. I'm thinking this because, from the looks of it, the new sub that we have been seeing in the previouse MK games (MK2-MK:DA), kinda kept his hair as we saw when he was unmasked. The hair style we see on this sub isn't a fashion statement but its symbolic of the monk-like lifestyle which he should have been undergoing from youth. So i dont think he just decided to get his hair done up like that for the new tournament. The clasic Sub however, we have never seen unmasked, so this could be him.

But one thing wh/ i thought up that debunks my theory was,
"hey DeepFreeze, isn;t the sub in MK:D to be the returning sub from MK:DA since he does have the scar on his face"
hmmmmmmm? Its a bit unclear but hey, i guess all wil be made crystal clear when the game is out.

I think DeepFreeze is into something. Take a close look at my avatar - do you see a scar? No scar. Have a look at those screenshots - still no scar (we may only be seeing one side of the face here, mind you).

I like the clothes Sub-Zero wears in his alternatate outfit. I just don't like the pony tail in the back of his head. I would rather have Sub-Zero shave all of his hair off.

I like it. I just wish he had a full pony tail, without all the baldness. Kinda in the style of Fujin, ya know.

BTW, I think they implemented the scar on his newer pics. So with that plus the medallion, I'm sure it's the younger Sub.

If you are bothered by his ponytail, he still has his ponytail in his primary costume. The only difference is his ponytail is black.

Anyways, I have no problem with Subby's ponytail. It makes him look more experienced.

It seems that Boon is trying to make all of the characters reflect reality in some way..

A lot of the outfits are kin to traditional fighting styles and dialects. It gives a feel of martial arts to the world of Mortal Kombat.

Hotaru's armor relfects that of some samurai, sans helmet.

Ben/Cobra seems to be wearing an average gi. His other design, with hood, is a sportier look. Watch 'Enter the Dragon' or 'Kill Bill'... That's where Tarantino got his inspritation! :)

Sub Zero's look closely resembles that of emperor's, high figures, etc. Shredder's look was based on some of the same things, so it's no surprise that they look the same.

Someone higher in the thread also mentioned Iron Monkey. It isn't necessarily influenced by that. The look is similar to all kinds of figures and actors througout history/movies. It's common. A look of higher status.

Personally, I love it.

His overall design seems to be influenced by his new position as head of the Lin Kuei. A higher responsibility. It makes sense.

Then again, I could be totally wrong.
