Baeing one of my fav. characters, I did a little research. Jade knows a fighting style called SUn-Bin. I researched Sun-Bin, which is named after a person called Sun Bin. Sun Bin was an advisor and a war strategist who employed DECEPTION in combat. Also, think about it. Jade is known for deception in previous MK's, and why would she be back if not for deception? All the fighters might have some sort of deception, but well, all I'm saying is that Jade may play a bigger role than you think!smile

Are you certain it's Jade and not Tanya who knows Sun-Bin? And I'm not so sure about Jade being a deceptor in previous MK's. But Tanya definitely is one. Excellent observation on the fighting style, though.

Yeah, both of them know Sun-Bin, but I don't care about Tanya, so I didn't know about her history as a deceptor.

That IS a very interesting thing you managed to discover dude! I guess everything in this game, and I mean everything, hides secret messages.

I think the style fits Tanta or Jade perfectly. I suggest you change your subject title to something more like:

“DECEPTION hidden even in fighting styles! Read 1 of them!”

or

“Story of DECEPTION in Jade’s fighting style Sun-Bin, read it here!”

Only if you want people to notice your point, since there have been so many threads about Jade similar to the title of yours.

Great find once again! smile

Well i do really think Jade has more stuff to do than just saving Kitana, as for the Sun Bin issue i'ts great to see that ppl actually make research on stuff like this, i dont think he will be appearing on the game but the Deceptuion Theory fits perfectly on Jade.

I found a website that describes Sun-Bin Boxing. It says it's a style of Long Fist that uses a technique called "Mai Fu Quan" or "Ambush Fist" - one that "emphasizes the hidden hand". So if this is what is meant by deception, I can see it.

Just a side note: The site also describes the Meridian or "Zhi Wi" Sword as part of the style, which uses the same "hidden hand" approach. Somebody said they saw Tanya with a Chinese style sword, so maybe that explains things.

Yeah, Sun-Bin was like a master of deception, so many fighting styles started employing his tactics, like you said, that "Hidden Hand" in SUn-Bin Boxing.

Interesting information. Since it's a style of Long Fist, that makes it a Northern Kung Fu style which is generally about speed and kicks and such.

Sun bin means rising horizon. It is was originally a Zha Quan(Long Fist) style form. It is also currently taught in Bei Shaolin Quan Men (Young Forest fist) as one of their forms. The routine was named after the famous general Sun Bin.

Isn't Zha Quan the Islamic sect Long Fist? Chang Quan is supposed to mean Long Fist, not Zha Quan. As for Bei Shaolin Quan, I think that's the Northern Shaolin Fist style, one of the earliest Shaolin Kung Fu styles. But nonetheless, interesting information. I wonder if there's a style named after Sun Tzu.

Here's what I found:

Zha quan means Zha family fist. The Zha family style was founded by Zha Shang Yi, 1568 - 1644 C.E. He was a Muslim of Hui origin. He lived in Xinjiang province in Northwestern China. Zha Shang Yi was succeeded as head of the system by Sha Liang, nicknamed "Flying Legs Sha Liang". Sha Liang taught this system to many Chinese Muslims. The Zha system core contains ten empty handed routines. The first routine is called Mu zi, meaning mother and son. The second routine is called Xing shou, meaning parallel hand movement. The third routine is called Fei Jiao, meaning flying foot. The fourth routine is called Sun Bin, meaning rising horizon. The fifth routine is called Quan Dong, meaning eastern gate. The sixth routine is called Mai hu, meaning ambush tiger. The seventh routine is called Mei hua, meaning plum flower. The eighth routine is called Lian huan, meaning continuous. The nineth routine is called Long bei wei, meaning shake dragon's tail. The tenth routine is called Chuan quan, meaning piercing fist. These ten routines seem to be a common core among the various Zha quan lineages. Additional forms taught in the various lineages include: Tan tui in 10 lines, Hong quan, Pao quan, Hua quan, staff routines, broadsword routines, straight sword routines, Kwan do routines, and two person routines.

You said: Jade is known for deception in previous MK's

Which Characters you would say they are known for deception??? I'd say:

Mileena: Her sharp teeth
Smoke: Lost his human form

**Although I LOVE Mileena's teeth grin

Awesome info ghostdragon. grin I'm glad that Zha Chuan is in this game. Although I'd like someone like Sub-Zero to have it being Northern Chinese Kung Fu and all, I think it'd be pretty cool for Sindel.

As for who Sun Tzu is, he's a famous Chinese general who wrote a book called the Art of War which influenced people like the Samurai and the Ninja.

YEAH! If the Lin Kuei are Chinese ninjas, then why does Subby use Shotakan Karate?confusedconfusedconfused Huh! And plus, how did that style reach outworld for Sindel to master it? I kinda am confused as to why the Team mixes the regional styles of different disciplines and assigns them to some characters. Man if you and I could re-assign styles to some of these characters... it'd be much better.

Oh well...

lol. I guess it's a matter of thinking outside the box. It seems like the Lin Kuei train in all sorts of styles around the world. I found it really strange for Cyrax to use Ninjutsu yet Ninjutsu is supposed to be the fighting style of their enemy. With Shotokan having both a good mix of speed and power, it would be kind of a good style for Sub-Zero then again, I think he should have something like a mixed martial art that combines certain ancient Chinese martial arts styles and it should be kind of "ninja-ish" so to speak. wink

As for the Outworld thing, well Outworld martial arts masters like Bo' Rai Cho brought martial arts styles from Earthrealm to Outworld such as Lui He Ba Fa. wink
