I remember what a HUGE event this caused for thos of us present back when MKD was released when Boon used the words "super Unlockable". Although i believe he was discussing Liu Kang as he was crazy hard to find, who knows to this day? After all, Shaun Himmerick said in an interview at E3 before MKA was released that there were still secrets even in MKDA that havent been found yet, i believe he thaught there was one in MKD and one or 2 in MKDA or SM, his exact words escape me. but he said it none the less.

Now for a vs game such as this, I could see them having a very highly built character being harder to unlock or not as liekly to unlock, being the parallel to Liu Kang in MKD.

Do you think any moves like this will be made or anything even further in terms of secrets? If so, what are some of your predictions?

Haha! I wondered whether someone would bring this up. I remember the stir about SUs. Good times.

Personally, I don't think they'll bother, but you never know. A well known but obscure MK character could end up in there as an SU but I doubt it.

I really, really hope this whole "Super-unlockable" business doesn't start again when the game comes out.

I'm sick of super unlockables. Just give us the damn character.

Back when I had MKDA, there was talk about Rain being a super unlockable, and I never found him. I feel like idiot now, because the whole Rain thing was most likely a bunch of bullshit.

Technically, since most of the DC cast is Superheroes, wouldn't ANY unlockable involving them be a "Super" Unlockable?

I remember that. "Buy koffin RA and IN then push start and left on Frost"

What a load of crap. Unlockables are fine... But some of those MKD krypt keys were rediculously hard places to find. And on top of the it had to be at a certian time, of a certian day, sometimes even on a certian month! Then after all the hard work it turns out to be something worthless like a cast photo or a bio. If I'm gonna have to spend hours trying to find one of those stupid SU's it had better be worth it! It would just be best for them to hide stuff... but the chances of finding it without cheating online has to be better then in MKD.

I havent posted here in years but had to just becuase of this post.

I spent soooo much time with the stupid Brady Games stradegy guide and with the people on that forum, trying to find them.

Now if you don't know, there are 2 SU in that game. They are only 2 crappy puzzle characters, but none the less they exist (Hotaru and Ashra)

Please... Do explain.

I'd say finding Liu Kang's alternate would nearly qualify as an SU. I was half driven to madness trying to find it. And I'd bet anything there's no one here who's found it without some form of cheats. Like online guides, people telling you who found it themselves... etc.

But the MK team always will hide stuff. And based off past experiences I predict it sure as hell won't be anywhere obvious.

Well it's been a while so bare with me on naming the level's but here we go.

Ashra:

What you have to do to get Ashra was in some puzzle stage (again forget the name but I do believe it's Hell's Foundary) you will notice at times a bird fly by and simply get killed by the death trap. You have to play the game on medium (atleast that's the difficulty Im almost positive) and when the bird comes by you need to do a huge combo with BLUE puzzle pecies. The bird will fly higher until it is over the death trap, thus not dieing. That's not it though the rest is having to finish the whole puzzle mode off without dieing once, or you have to restart. Once you are done go to (crap I forget what character) hold up and hit the action button (depends what system ur on) and ull get them, kind of like how u got blaze in MKDA.

Hotaru:

To get Hotaru you do the same exact thing just it's on a different stage. The stage where you see lightning strike (again sorry forget the name) you have to wait for the lightning to strike and do another huge combo only this time with YELLOW puzzle peices.

I always found the Hotaru one more of a pain, so if you don't believe I'm telling the truth (like most people do and flame me for) try to get ashra first which still isn't the easiest thing, but just requires some luck.

Again I spent wayyy too many hours on this game looking for the "SU" and I still to this day KNOW there are more, esp looking at the HEX format of the game. But I didn't find anything other then these two characters and If you can't get them unlocked, don't worry they are not worth the effort IMO.

I believe the secret for MK:SM was survival mode and in MK:DA the secret was Mokap and Blaze.

Alright, im not an expert, but try and answer this with my simple mind.

HOW do you know by looking at the HEX?

With the hex, it tells basically all the triggers in the game. Most (if not all) things in MKD were time based as we all know. So to simply put it, if you talked to somebody at a certain time, that would trigger something else.

With the hex format, a lot of people (at that time on the bradygame forums) were seraching through it and found some interesting triggers, but could not find out how to trigger that trigger (im trying to dull this down lol).

For example one of the triggers we knew about was with that fisherman on the beach. I don't remember what the hex said exactly as it's been years, but according to it, if you did something to unlock that trigger, you would find that fish or something (again don't remember the things in this game) but what the fish had was Quan Chi's REAL amuelt.

So like I said, we KNEW things existed that we couldn't find the triggers to unlock them. There were more then just this example, but this one stood out for many on the forums as a popular one to try and find. The one I couldn't find that really got me mad was the existence of an ice-subzero level. If I recall right, there was NO subzero signiture ice level in the game to play. You can get pictures of one with other characters frozen and that;s the one I believe exists.

As for the people that requested pictures, I have a 40 gig ps3 and traded in my ps2/games to get it (along with gamecube games and system as well) so there's no way I can get pictures for you due to the 40 not playing ps2 games, never mind I don't have the game anymore. So sorry.

If you don't believe me, that's 100% fine. Just don't flame becuase it does nothing. I know these things exist and that's all that counts to me, but I hope I helped you guys out.

Super Unlockables? It's just like how people on here are posting "Secret Hidden things found on the Renders." I don't see a damn thing in these pictures that people are claiming to see.

Like a user who should not be named saying that he could see Wonder Woman in the Flash picture or Jax in Sonya's render... come on, if only one person could see it and no one else could, do you think you're only seeing things?

With the Super Unlockable crap, I'm going to guess that some 14 year old user here will post something about "Secret Ulnockable" characters such as "The Heath Ledger Joker can be found by pressing U,U, D,D, L,L, R,R, square, triangle, circle, X, Start during the Midway logo scene." - Seeing how so far, DC characters are not looking like the actors that have either played them in the past or currently playing them now.

I can see something like this happening later on when the game comes out.

If you doubt me then how about just simply put my theory to the test? Video tape what you did so everyone can see that I'm right. I'm actually going to see if I can borrow someones ps3 and rent the game. I'll film it with my capture card if I do.

Are there any other hints or signals that you would consider to be grounds of unlocking any more characters other than thos 2?

If you let the main screen sit to see that screensaver film, it shows a 4 screen split with konquest, chess, puzzle and kombat. the PUZZLE are depicts HAVIK as a playable character.

again, I did not play the GC version so if he was included then forgive my absense of intel. None the less, the PS2 version includes videos of him in the game while in a screensaver or whatever you may call it.

look into it please. I am posative that in MKD, MKSM for sure, and even MKDA, theres some stuff we missed, confirmed by Shaun Himmerick's interview 2 years ago that nobody seems to realize.

It would be sooo cool if you guys actually discovered the secrets.

I wonder if MKSM really has more secrets. Well, the one that was discovered (which was incredibly hard to discover I have no idea how those guys did it) was fun and quite a shock to everyone.

I'm not a big fan of "super unlockables" it's a pain and time consuming at times, I'd just rather have normal locked characters say 10 max but say have a roster of 30 in total, so have 20 playable but 10 locked but can be unlocked by beating the game with each character. For every new character you beat the game with( a certain character), you unlock a new character.

Something like that.
