Cost of the game in general- Probably same cost as most games

Cost to play online- Now iv never played an online game on a system only on compter so im not sure on how all this works.

Cost to make the game- I know that MK:Da cost them quit a bit to make because i remember just to make that opening cinimatic it cost them like 300,000.00 to make.

and thats about all that i could think of for now. Tell me what u think about these

Well, I'm sure that Online gameplay won't be essential to the game... Probably a BIG part of the game, but I'm sure that playing offline will be just as enjoyable as MKDA... I hope it has a ot of extras like MKDA...

I don't think this game would cost that much for the developers. The reason why that game costs so much was because they completley revamped the fighting system of Mortal Kombat and created a new engine to run on.

This time, Mortal Kombat Deception will be running on that same engine which would save them some money. Plus with the high profit rate that the developers recived from Deadly Alliance will be put into this game so that each member of the Mortal Kombat team would get even more money in their pocket. So money shoulden't be an issue for the development for this new game.

I doubt it will cost money to play online, so you don't have to worry about that.

As far as online play I doubt there will be a cost... usually only MMORPGs have an online fee, at least that I know of. I usually play Blizzard's online titles on Battle.net (the greatest idea ever, IMO) like Diablo 2 or Starcraft and there's no fee so I've never really played or know anything about games you have to pay to play online....

MMORPG's have monthly fees because of the costs to run the server that you play on.

With something like a fighting game, there is no server, just a connection between you and the other guy(s), so you only pay what you already pay your isp.

That said, XBox Live does have a flat yearly (?) fee (50 bucks I think), but that gives you the ability to play all online capable Xbox games, it's not a specific charge for any one game though. You only have to pay that because of the services / perks you get through the Live service (and because Microsoft likes money)

MKD online will most likely cost the standard dvd game cost (50 bucks) + whatever you already pay for internet access (prolly 15-30 bucks) + whatever your console costs to play online (50 bucks for X Live or 50 bucks for PS2 online adapter).

There is no law that states you HAVE to play online though.

Actually the online adapter for the PS2 is 30 not 50.

Blizzard's Battle.net has maintenance costs and we're playing games for free. Games like Starcraft and Diablo 2 have been released over 5 years ago and people still play them everyday (because they're free, amongst other reasons).

It's not only a question of maintenance costs to run the servers.

There's a difference, with Starcraft and Diablo and basically every Battle.net game, the actual game information is still stored on your computer, and more importantly the communication is still done directly through the end users.

Battle.net is basically a server that provides a pass through for the players one another, it does not do all the work on it's own. Think of it as a big bloated gamespy (back when gamespy was just a program for finding and connecting games). Most of the work is still being done by your computer (the client), this is why there is so much rampant cheating on B.Net. You are in control of most of the elements, not Battle.Net.

In an MMORPG, very little runs on your computer, or at least, very little of the game. Your computer handles drawing stuff on the screen, and it handles playing music, and it handles sending messages ot the server, but that's about it. The server is the game world, and it has to communicate and work with every player logged on to the game simultaneously, in addition to making sure the players can see, talk, and interact with one another simultaneously. All of your character data is there, and everything that happens to your character is determined there. All of this costs a tremendous amount of upkeep, and since everytime the player plays it adds to the workload, it seems logical that we should have to pay to play.
