Over the past couple of months, we have become aware of a custom character named Shujinko. Obviously, we were all fairly excited when we heard about this custom character; many of us saw it as a chance to bring back our favorite non-returning characters; others saw it as a chance to create the character we always dreamed of.

Today, I came to a realization though. Shujinko will break Mortal Kombat Deception. By breaking, for those of you who don't know, I mean he will stand out so far ahead of the pack that it won't even be fun to play as anyone but Shujinko; let me explain why.

Shujinko could be either a terrible player or a great player; it all depends on the skill of the player that is compiling his move set. Now think about this; compiling move sets? Some definite problems arise in with this. Imagine if you gave Bo' Rai Cho Scorpion's Spear, or dropped one of Scorpion's fighting styles to give him an extra weapon with an impalation move; instopable right?

Basically what I'm afraid we're going to see is Shujinko destroy any possibility of upper-level gameplay in Mortal Kombat; possibilities like the ones mentioned above would result in characters too powerful to beat; I mean Imagine if Kitana had the ice ball in MK 2 in addition to her other moves. We're talking about some pretty unstoppable characters here.

The flip-side of this is that any two Shujinko players will be relatively even when they play each other, regardless of experience. If both players have no knowledge of the other players abilities, they'd be going into the match blind. Other than that, if an upper level Shujinko player were to face any other upper level character, he'd slaughter him. We're talking the most broken non-boss character since Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat Trilogy. It could be pretty absurd.

So I think that the Mortal Kombat Community needs to think long and hard about whether or not it should allow Shujinko in tournament play; Although Shujinko will be a blast to use just for fun, using him in tournament play maybe like using Motaro in Mortal Kombat Trilogy against Stryker. There'd be no hope for the opponent.

Not to be self-important or anything, but is there any chance a moderator can sticky this? I think this is pretty important for all Future players of Mortal Kombat Deception.

I think we might be overestimating our abilty to "create" Shujinko.

Maybe we won't be able to combain certain moves or styles? That could prevent him from becoming a "breaker".

But to be honest, I don't think the MK Team has thought of this. For the first time since the revamped Konquest mode was shown, I'm hoping Shujinko will not be super-customizable.

I foresee everyone using Shujinko, but I don't think this will be a problem since everyone's will be different. An entire tournament could be filled with only Shujinkos and you'd still get diversity.

Its just like Pokemon. You have to learn how to master you Shujinko in order to fight other Shujinko. Its not as bad as you're making it out to be.

I feel exactly the same way right now; it would be like giving a create-a-wrestler in a Smackdown game 25 smackdown moves; it would just make the game too lopp-sided and broken. Hopefully they will make sure styles that too many powerful styles aren't melded together.

You're right. It would be a totally unfair match if the player plays their cards right with Shujinko. But it could also come in handy. If the sub-boss is as tough as Moloch or any other sub-boss of the past, Shujinko could help you move foward. And if the sub-boss was actually pretty easy and the Dragon King is VERY difficult, then Shujinko's your man. So it could be fair or unfair depending on the CPU's difficulty. Though I agree that it would be totally unfair to use Shujinko when playing against another person, unless they're REALLY good. Though I think Shujinko will still be in the vs. roster, though.

How about just a "NO Shujinko" option for online play that you could turn on and off? If one of the people selects that option, neither person will be allowed to choose him.

wtf moloch was easy but about shujinko i think only his fighting styles will be customizable so it wont make him that great.

My fear is that everybody's Shujinko will be the same. Seems to me that a lot of people are in agreement on what the most powerful fighting styles are, as well as the best special moves. If everybody came into the arena with Shujinko armed with Hapkido, Tae Kwon Do, Sub's Ice Ball, etc., that would just make things boring.

While you will be able to choose Shujinko's fighting styles, I believe Ed Boon said that Shujinko's special moves will be unlocked in Konquest. I think he meant that Shujinko will have his own set of special moves which are "awakened" in him at various places in the game world, as opposed to picking them from other characters' special move sets. And this is probably why--to avoid the creation of an outrageously unfair character whose special moves complement each other a little _too_ well.

Let's hope you're right.
