If indeed The Joker will be in the game, how do you want him to look? What about his fighting style? For me it's as followed:

Look: Either The Dark Knight portrayal, from the Killing Joke, or from "The Batman" cartoon (not animated series.)

Also see the videos at the bottom.

For fighting style I think they should portray him as some writers did; with good enough fighting skills to be able to hold his own against Batman. They should use his fighting style from the "The Batman" cartoon; being erratic and a lot like the monkey style. Here is what I mean...

-Update for clarification-
This topic is not to debate if he is in or not it's to talk about "if" he is going to be in the game, how do you want him to be.

If Joker makes in the game (he better!) I'm pretty sure his main will be the classic. The Killing Joke. I'd want his alt. to be The Dark Knight, but I'm not sure if they can. I'm betting they're going to make a game based off the movie and they would have the rights to model the characters after the movie. That is unless Midway does that game too. (cross your fingers)

I highly doubt they're going to have more than two Batman characters in the game. If they include anymore, the game might as well be called "Mortal Kombat vs Batman's Universe".

I think they will, I see your point but, The Joker is possibly the most iconic villain in the whole DCU. If he is in it will only be 3 out of the 11 character from Batman including Batman himself, that would hardly make it "vs Batman's Universe" IMO. Also most fans are more familiar with characters from his series then any other.

They'd be fools not to though. With the Dark Knight coming out, Midway is really gonna want to capitalize on the movie's success. It might unbalance the roster but it's smart business.

I get what you guys are saying, with the movie and Joker kicking lots of ass.

Still, the Joker isn't even a fighter. The only things he can bring to MK vs DC are kick ass magic tricks for special attacks.

Seriously though, he's not the type to use hand-to-hand combat.

He does have hand-to-hand skill, just read my first post and watch the videos. A lot of writers for the comics have made him an extremely good fighter and recently in "The Batman" cartoon, which you can see in the videos. Also, this topic is not to debate if he is in or not it's to talk about "if" he is going to be in the game, how do you want him to be.

Well, when you put it like that, I guess I'd like for him to have that long he had in The Batman.

The Batman cartoon is a horrid abomination that I'm glad has been cancelled. What an awful series that was.

And no, Joker does not have very much in the way of combat skill. He can throw a punch and kick just like everybody else, but he is not a fighter. He goes down in a one-on-one fight very easily.

I seriously do not want Joker to be in this game unless they give him a weapon of some sort to fight with, such as the crowbar he used to kill Jason Todd. He'd be a black sheep amongst all of the other far more adept combatants.

Here is an excerpt from wikipedia (and if you change something in wikipedia if will say by it or they will take it off if it is not true):
"Joker's skills in hand-to-hand combat vary considerably depending on the writer. Some writers have shown Joker to be quite the skilled fighter, capable even of holding his own against Batman in a fight. Other writers prefer portraying Joker as being physically frail to the point that he can be defeated with a single punch. He is, however, consistently described as agile." It's all up to the writer if he is good at fighting or not. And thank you for your input, but like i posted above this thread is not to debate if he is or should be, it's to talk about how you would want him to be "IF" he was in this game.

Well, like you said, it's all up to the writer, so let's just leave it up to them, alright?

You can link to all the wiki tid-bits you want. As a long time comic book fan, I know the Joker is not a good fighter. BUT, as a long time comic fan, I know the Joker always has a trick up his sleeve to be able to take down a "Super-Hero" at any given time. And because iof this, he's really a character a developer could have fun with in a video game. Specifically a violent game like Mortal Kombat. I can easily envision Raiden grabbing the Joker and pulling him in for Klose Kombat. Raiden landing a vicious right hand. Then as he swings with a left, the Joker leans back to dodge, and a huge boxing glove on a sping pops out of his pants straight up into Raidens chin. That would be SO awesome.
I wouldn't even care how many times I got my arse whooped online, as long as I got to land that once in a fight, I'd be happy.

Thank you for your thought, and once again it is up to the writer. I have been a long time comic fan as well and I know that he has had his moments with fighting where he has really showed off how he can fight. I couldn’t think of an instance off hand that's why I posted that from wikipedia to prove my point. There is no need to attack anyone. wink I like your idea about the Klose Kombat specials. They would work out very nicely IMO. If they do have him in, I think the best bet would be to combine the two portrayals of The Joker and make him pretty good at fighting and make him really good with his tricks and gadgets. I know what you mean by "I know the Joker always has a trick up his sleeve to be able to take down a 'Super-Hero' at any given time." This mentality would be very nice in the storyline to keep it the genuine Joker that he really is.

Yeah I really like that one too. Its simple and sticks to the original Joker design but shows his personality very nicely. This one would also fit in with the Mortal Kombat image and keep the DCU feel. That's a good stance for him too.

I'd go see Dark Knight for that one line.

But I'm gonna see Hellboy 2 instead.

Sadly to say, if this game hasn't featured anything from any movies with the renders or characters that they have out now, I doubt to see any movie reference in this game.

Although it would be an interesting touch to add with these characters. Especially with the "Why so serious."

The batman's take on the joker is nothing less than an abomination. I get where they're going with the jester feel of it, but it's just wrong on so many levels. Stay with the killing joke as inspiration for the look. The charactar can survive on minimal fighting skill, but his specials would have to be kind of overpowered to make up for that. This is a charactar that can easily unbalance a game. Hopefully if he is there (and I think he should be) they pay special attention to balancing him out.
