MK:D still has the Same, old, BORING Picture and Text Character Endings (WE WANT FULL-MOTION VIDEO ENDINGS!).
Sure, the presentation of MK4's FMV endings sucked big time, but that was several years ago. I'm sure most of us have seen the FMVs in the MK:D trailers, they kick some serious rump! It would be awesome if MK7 had Full-Motion Video Character Endings for every character: hidden, unlockable, locked-up (Prison Stage pun), what have you!
Full-Motion Video endings are much more entertaining than picture and text endings because FMVs are much more dynamic, and add a much more alive feel to the storyline, and even to the game itself! Also, Midway could build an 'Ending Theater' into MK7, which would allow you to view endings, as you acquire them, by beating the game with the different, hopefully realistic-looking MK characters.
Now, don't get me started on disc space! If Tekken 1 and 2 can fit FMV endings on PS1 discs, then, surely MK7 should be able to fit FMV endings on PS3 and XBox 2 discs (or whatever form of medium they choose to use for storage)!
By the time MK7 comes around, it will be at least 2006, not the 1990s! Time for MK to go to Full-Motion Video Endings for every MK character!
MK7 must have better presentation and visuals!
I would like to see large, animated MK characters at the select screen, and would like to see them pose/taunt/brag once selected. Soul Calibur II is a good example.
Also, the MK characters need to be much more dynamic! Blinking eyes, visible breathing, realistic-looking cuts and bruises, messed up hair, damaged clothing, stains from the environment, blowing hair, wet clothing/skin/hair, etc, etc! Anything that Midway can possibly do to make the MK character and environment look and feel much more realistic would be great!
However, not so realistic that the game is not fun anymore, but, realistic enough to make things much more alive!
Yes, MK:D is somewhat of a disappointment. Let's just say Midway was 'filling in the cracks.' However, MK7 is in the works, and let's hope that THE FANS WILL SPEAK UP AND VOICE THEIR OPINIONS!

let's be realistic here. FMV videos are nice to look at once or twice, but they're ridiculously time consuming. the MK team shouldnt spend several months on anything that players wont watch more than a few times. Would they aid the story line? Probably. However, anyone who plays MK for its story needs a reality check.

Well, I'm interested in the story cause there is one there to look at. But, I don't play it ONLY because of the story. FMV vids are looooong to make, and take up alot of space on a disk. None the less, I dont care if they have stills or FMV's for endings.

I do not play MK for its storyline! That's just the thing! MK's storyline is not that interesting to me. I think that Full-Motion Video Endings would make the MK storyline much more interesting!
You want to be realistic? Full-Motion Video Endings are worth more than one or two times of viewing! Many people would enjoy seeing the different MK characters' alive storylines (FMVs) many times.

Full-Motion Video Endings are not a waste of time! They add a much more dynamic, alive feel to the storyline, and the entire game! Midway has several more years to work on the next MK. They don't have to release it in 2006, they can wait until 2007! I'm sure two-in-a-half to three years would be enough time to include Full-Motion Video Endings! Also, the advancement of technology will aid them in their quest for Full-Motion Video Ending glory.

FMV endings would be great, but they're not gonna do it. They should have great art instead like soul calibur, that would be amazing..I like your other ideas a lot, they should implement that next time.

I'm talking about MK7 having Full-Motion Video Endings; it's too late for MK:D, SST.

i'd love for a mixture of both fmv and text endings! 1 thing that's good about text, is more of the story can be told for that character..

If you don't like this thread, don't post in it. Go to another one.
The point is, what's better in a video game storyline? A Full-Motion Video, or a few pages of text and three of four lame pictures? Obviously the Full-Motion Video is!
And, a lot of story can be told in a video! It's all about how you do the video. The video doesn't even have to be that long. Maybe a minute, or so. A lot can be told in a minute.
You could even mix narration with the action for an even deeper video story!

Maybe you should join the MKteam and make thirty four fmv endings for us.

I really like how you think.
Everything you mentioned in your original post is valid. The additional effects to make the game feel more “alive” would be incredibly awesome.
And I cant deny that I rather see FMV endings then text endings, even if they look or sounds like they did in Mk4.

If the MK Team ever puts back FMV Endings, they better have found some good actors.. I like the stills, they dont bother me at all.

I'm sure they could include FMV endings if they wanted, but text endings are MK's style.

Thanks for the input. You can't really make an argument for text endings, if you're a video game fan. You want performance over dullness!
We all know that MK4 is several years in the past. With the advancing technology, Full-Motion Videos will be even more amazing than those that are in MK:D and other videos games out at this time.
So, if Full-Motion Video Endings are in MK7, they should really 'rock, duuuude!'

If the 'MKteam' wanted me to help them out with FMV endings, I would help them out! But, I'm sure they have more than one person working on FMV endings. They probably have a whole team working on FMVs and storyline. They could work together and come up with some pretty good stuff.
If they could make FMV endings in MK4, surely they can make FMV endings in MK7! Remember, FMV endings have been done once before! MK4 had FMVs! But, like I said, that was several years in the past. Full-Motion Videos will be much better looking now, and even in the future!

So what you're saying is, that instead of having nice, polished ending pics you'd rather have a crap FMV with crap dialogue and crap actors.
Well, I wouldn't. I don't mind then storyboard endings. Even though I'd like FMV endings that are the same quality like the intro, I don't really need them to make the game better.
Besides, the time they don't spend on creating those FMV's they can spend on bug hunting or something else that's constructive.

Great thread and I agree that I'd love to see FMVs. If they had all the detail you said, they'd be great. MK7 would be the perfect time to have it all and I think they could do it.
Lets hope they'll try. Given the power of the next generation consoles, they should be able to do it. And they have enough time to do them. Hopefully money shouldn't be a problem given how MKD is probably going to sell. But then, individual actors will cost quite a bit. Right now, we can only hope.
All that being said, the stils don't bother me and it's about the game and story themselves, not how the ending is presented that bothers me.
And I wouldn't want any half assed actors and cheap and awful voies either! Stills are a blessing when you factor those two things in.

Hi, tgrant.
I think that video games, including MK, are to the point where when you beat the game, and you're rewarded with three or four pictures and paragraphs instead of a highly-dynamic, 60-frame-per-second Full-Motion Video Ending it's just wrong.
Picture and text endings are anti-climatic. It makes you say, "That's it!?" when you beat the game.
In MK:DA, though I would continuously beat the game with Scorpion only because he's my favorite player, I only attempted to beat the game with 1 or 2 other MK characters, after being disappointed with the endings.
Here we go with Tekken again:
I've beaten Tekken with every single Tekken character from Tekken 2 to Tekken Tag Tournament (I do not own Tekken 1 or Tekken 4), because I wanted to see the endings! The endings are Full-Motion Videos that add to the characters' storylines in vivid, dyanmic detail!
If Midway has to spend extra time in FMVs, it will be well worth it! We're not talking years here! Maybe a few extra months. Also, they could add more people on their FMV and storyline teams to compensate for time.
Midway will have much more money from MK:D and future releases, so, don't worry about their money problems.
FMV endings over text endings anyday!
Midway doesn't need to have a lot ofcharacter dialogue in the FMV endings. All they have to do is use different Midway staff members. Yes, it's really that simple! All they really need are some fighting and grunting noises, and maybe a few beginning lines of dialogue, drowned out by the narrator explaining what's happening.
Problems solved!

Well, the MK4 endings were NOT That bad, and I think, better then the nice pics of MKDA.

I understand perfectly what you're saying. However it seems as if you're saying to an extent that peopel wouldn't want to bother getting the Still endings on MK. This is not the case as I want them all for the sake of completion and finding out what could possibly happen. I think others would feel the same way.
FMV endings would be more enjoyable and the things you mentioned for improvements and those to fix any problems would be great. I believe it can be done too. We just have to hope the MK Team pays attention and doesn't get all lazy on us.

Yeah, I hope some of the Midway team are browsing the forum, and are checking this thread out. I think it's a good one.
Would you rather watch a book on a television monitor, or a movie?
