Personally, I'm plesantly surprised. I love the MK games, I love the Mario Kart games. Seems win win to me.
What intrigues me far more then Kart Kombat though is that in the scans, there's a screenshot of a revised select screen, a FULL select screen.
Looks very similar to the MKT select screen, but with smaller pictures. It's too small to make out who they are in the scans, but there are definately 62 boxes (64 if you count the 2 question marks, which may be secret characters, but are more likely random selects like, in the gamecube MKD)
I'm very anxious to see some bigger shots of this screen, so we can see just who these 62 faces are. (I'll make note, that all the confirmed returning characters + Chameleon, Khameleon, Meat & Taven = 62, just for those who aren't keeping up. )

Actually, now that some bigger scans are surfacing, I've noticed that the two characters next to the ?'s on the select screen, both look like Taven, except on would appear to be bald, and one with hair...
