OK. THE PIT. defintly MK's greatest stage since Mortal Kombat.. Did anyone notice it. I sure as hell did. but i want to know if its only a ches stage because it says Scorpion Takes the square... I wonder if I can play it without chess smile

It would be really stupid if you can only play the old backgrounds in chess. If they have the krypt in it theres no reason why it shouldnt be in there to unlock it. I mean all the work that goes into the backgrounds i dont see why they would only have it in chess.

They will be playable (not officially confirmed but only an idiot would think to waste that much of a good thing); it's done been said that the Deadpool and Pit 1 will have their stage fatalities which we've seen the Pit 1; The Living Forest also was mentioned to be a playable stage that's gonna amaze us - hopefully meaning a stage fatality (which is in a darkened screen shot - but too dark to tell what exactly it looks like but u can see a tree with an image of a face on it) It has been said that SO FAR 17 stages were in the game (all with death traps)

So Far:
1. Prison Stage (Spiked Walls)
2. Ice Stage (Ice Worm)
3. Armory-lookin Stage (Metal Press)
4. Ying/Yang (1. Piranas, 2. Loch Ness Snack)
5. Crumbling Tower (Stalagmites)
6. Tiered Tower (Fall and Break)
7. Rock Stage (Falling Rocks)
8. ? (Lasers)
9. Kuantan Palace (Lava Pit)
10. Quan Chi's Palace (?)
11. Netherbelly - with the corpses (?)
12. MKDA Soul Chamber Stage - (?)
13. DK Arena - (Spike Beds)
14. Red Dragon Stage (?)
15. Beetle Chamber (eaten by bugs)
16. Slaughter House - (Meat Grinder)
17. ? - Falling Statue

+

1. Pit 1 *** (we know has a death trap)
2. Deadpool *** (we know has a death trap)
3. Living Forest
4. Courtyard
5. Portal
6. Graveyard (I swear I both heard and seen it, but not for sure)
7. MK3 Hidden Portal (Cyber Smoke's old stage)
8. Shaolin Temple Stage (with the Chinese hut lookin buildings)
9. Pit 2 (highly rumored)
10. MK1 Statue Stage (also highly rumored)
11. Goro's Lair (I couldn't imagine any other popular stage HAS TO BE IN IT - not confimed but it's been in every game but MKDA/MK3)
12. MK4 Prison of Souls (highly rumored but not official)

Damn that's a lot of Stage Fatalities (Sounds and Looks Nice MK TEAM!!!)

I also read somewhere where even all the Chess stages will have death traps but we'll just have 2 wait and see!!!
I've said this a lot.. but if they could only just use certain pits using only back and forward motion, old school style, using of course the new 3D engine.

This is only logical.

I can't agree more. Just because the game is set in a 3d realm doesn't mean that the arenas have to be circular; wide open.

I imagined the Pit making a return. I also thought that it would retain the side scrolling element that it had back in the days of Mortal Kombat. Consider the play mechanics. No side stepping (you fall off), No intense hits (you fall off), etc. It would be exciting. Difficult.

It's a shame that it's an actually arena now and not a bridge.

I had an idea for a level while playing Konquest in Deadly Alliance. When the player walks across a bridge over a gap, it hit me. An old wood bridge (ala Indiana Jones) that slowly falls apart when the fight gets too much for it. The ropes could swing and both fighters could have trouble keeping balance. Planks could fall. Use your imagination, it could be great. Just an idea.

Just imagining the crisp new models on old school 2D movement, just makes me wanna snap.

Just look at Super Smash Bros. Same exact principal, only that whole game is 2D/3D. I'm just talking Pit's that involve bridges of course.

Of course. I wouldn't want the whole game to revert back to the original play mechanic. It would just be Mortal Kombat without the digitized characters.

There should be levels that allow limited movement though. Not everything in the real world is a large circle. Fights can take place almost anywhere. Uneven terrain, bridges, etc. I want to see some real originality from the Mortal Kombat designs.

With Deception, they took the extra step by adding Death Traps, Warning Zones and Stage Weapons. The stage is just as important as the fighters, let's take it a step further. Why not, right?

Siduu101... that's the Deadpool. Nice pic though.

I think the spikes are too big and spaced too far apart (like what was said earlier). The MK1 pit gave the illusion that there was no way to fall WITHOUT getting at least one spike through you. Also I wish the character would NOT STOP as soon as he hits the spike. Why can't it go ALL the way through so he's touching the ground but with a spike through him.

I think that's the Cavern, but I could be wrong.

Also, yes the boards will be playable in other modes then Chess. Cause we all almost see the Pit 1 fatality, and in chess you don't kill anyone that I know of.

Also the Living Forest was seen in the newest video.

actually we know hte red dragon's stage fatality. this is the level with the big sword in the green gem and the yelow glass floors. in an interview in gameinformer Boon said that one of the stage fatals was being grinded up by gears. if u look carefully through the glass floor of the red dragon stage u can see gears. also i nsoem of the videos when a character is tossed in the air nad lands, cracks appear in the glass. so it is common sense to assuem that if a character is knocked up i nthe air twice in the same place they will fall through the glass and into the gears. this is the same principal as falling through the ice for the ice temple stage (the one with the wyrm)

I couldn't agree more, all of the spike fatalities we have seen so far have involved the character falling on one large spike. I wanna see spikes through heads, legs and arms, not just throught the midsection.

I hope you meant SUCH. If so, Thanks. I took Mileena's victory pose from www.mkwarehouse.com and cut the legs from certain frames and pasted on others frames and changed the color in Ulead Photo Impact. Then put the gif together with Ulead GIF Animator 3.

I cant wait to see what they do for the stage fatality in the Dead Pool. that was always one of my favorite stages in MKII, along with the stage that had the spikes in the ceiling. Now THAT would be cool to see in MKD.

I think they need to add the MK4 Prison Stage in the game (I think that it would be an awsome last minute stage to add to it)! as well as the Pit 2 and 3!!!

I also remember seeing Kahn's Arena from MK2 in a pic if I'm not mistaken (but don't remember where) without Kano and Sonya being chained up - maybe the death trap is that u'r opponent locks u in the shackles and some creature comes out and eats u!!!
