See, lastnight someone said in a thread that there will be a confirmed 35+ characters. To which I asked, where and when was this confirmed? People posted like I was crazy or something.

I don't understand how that many playable characters can be expected. We are getting 24 for sure, so where are the other 11 comming from? I do expect secret characters, like 2-4 at most. While Boon himself said thet not every character will be in the strategy guide, it has not been confirmed 100% anywhere that we can expect as many characters as some are saying.

Like someone else already said, the very most I expect is 30, if there are more than I will be pleasently suprised as well. But, I really don't see more than 30 characters being playable.

i still stand by my theory that this game will have every mortal kombat game ever! except for meat, mokap, goro, kintaro, motaro, shinnok, moloch, original sub-zero, dragon king, sareena, khameleon, chameleon, shao kahn. besides all of them i think everyone else will be in!

What are you? Retarded? This game will have every MK game ever? Plus, what do you mean "except for Dragon King". He's the God damn boss, of course he's gonna be in the game.

I think the 24 will be playable from the start and then say about 6 or 8 will be unlockable via konquest or other means. So we should have around 30 or 32 characters total.

I don't see that expecting too much no matter how you look at it.

Also magazine's have said there would be a torrent of hidden characters, which is not including the 24 characters on the select screen. So that's why I came to my conclusion.

I need someone to dig up the quote where they said 24 characters were immediately selectable because I believe that it's been taken out of context and badly. I do believe there will be lots of hidden characters, but only about 26 characters total.

Hey Bezou, you forgot Khameleon and Chameleon in your list.

I really don't think that even the Mortal Kombat team has been 100% on the characters that will be in the game, they most likely do now and chances of seeing new additions to the list is definatly becoming slim. There is characters I am happy to see in the game and some I am not but that is the way it is I guess.

Do you think Quan Chi has been cut? There was video footage released of him fighting Scorpion awhile back I think it was on a German DVD called "Playzone" or something

Who was it that confirmed Jax would be in the game anyway? I remember reading about it here on the forum around the time of E3 but was it someone who actualy seen him or someone else? because I am begining to think that whoever has made this statement has got confused and mistaken him for Darrius

25 characters. Not 24, not 26. There will be 25 playable characters in MKD. Does this include secret characters? Probably not, so all in all there will probably be around 30 or so more (hopefully more), but there will only be 25 starting + unlockable characters.

Don't get your hopes too high, it's already confirmed that the game will have 25 characters, maybe the boss (or bosses) aren't included in that list, but I don't expect any secret characters, I can't think in a secret character without a bio.

Or maybe the bio videos aren't that important. :P

"25 characters in the game" doesn't mean 25 playable characters. It could just as easily mean 24 and a boss. For that matter it could mean 1 playable and 24 bosses.

I think that is where people are getting these idea's from. They figrure that the characters both shown and blackened out on that character select screen will be playable from the start. Which I don't believe in the slighest that is true. I think the blackened out characters will hae to be unlocked, then we have our 2 or so hidden characters which aren't featured on the character select screen.

So, judging from that, I think most people see 24 characters at the start, and 12 or so to unlock from there. Which could be true, but I don't think so.

When speaking of a "Torrent" of hidden characters, that "Torrent" is probably those blackened out pics on the character select screen.

We haven't had a TRUE hidden character since MK II. With every other game we've known who the hiddens are either before the game is out or immediatly after.


The whole "MK games are full of mysterious secrets that take months to find!" thing is largely based on myth and nostalgia.

That's so true, Anyanka. And it's all the internet's fault. I guarantee you that a week after this game comes out, we here at MKO will know every single thing about it.

If we can actually log in, I mean. It could be the only thing we'll know is "Server Is Busy"

I won't be coming here for awhile after the game is released.
