In the GI, it claims there will be a versus mode. How would you like it to play? Would you like it to be the 3 style Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance and Deception formula, or would you like the basic HP, LP, HK, LK stuff? I personally would like there to be an option so I could do both. That would be pretty cool. Classic and new stuff.

If anything, there shouldn't be a versus mode at all. I dunno, to me it would kind of seem like they're pissing on MK2, an original, a classic. But since it might be in there, I'd prefer it to be 2D-type fighting with HP, LP, LK, HK, BLK, etc.
But my honest opinion - no fricking versus mode. If anything, just put a QUALITY arcade version of MK2 on it with updated codes and sprites, like playing as the hidden characters (with their own moves), and bosses and not having them be pallete swaps.

I think any versus mode is gonna kinda be an insult. it wont be upto MK standerds and seeing as MK IS FIGHTING there si not point in haveing a half assed fighting game in it. if it's like the MKDA MKD engine then it will seem like a rip off cuase it realy would be 2 games in one (but a rip off in a good way) from the looks of things the shot or liu and sub fighint is to pefect of a shot. it's 100% level so im guessing that's the versus mode. 3d but still side scrolling.and that i like.

You both make very good points. It's just I don't want the whole game to be an action/adventure/fighting game. I would like to do other things, which is why I would like a versus mode. When I unlock characters, I want to have a competition with my friends, or the computer. That's why I like the idea of a versus mode, but like you both said, it depends on what kind of fighting it is(Deadly Alliance & Deception, or Classic).

Hell yeah. thats why i love MKD cause konquest gave me so much more to do. im preying that even if the fighting system is crappy that we still get to play as the MK&MKII guyz. that IMO would make the game great. to have semi 3D version of MK.2.

Guys why would there need to be a versus mode in an MK RPG?? Think about it for a sec. This is an RPG, not a regular MK game. I'm not sure, but I doubt there was a versus mode in MK:SM, and MK:SF.

if im not mistaken it has already been confermed that versus mode is in. also this game is not exactly an RPG with the exception of the fact that u get points for killing guyz. weather or not u level up or not has yet to be seen. if anything i have a feeling this game may end up being simmalr to CastleVania: Lament of innocence. which IMO is a good thing.

I'm sure this probably isn't going to happen, but wouldn't it be cool if the vs. mode turned out to be Mortal Kombat 2 completely remade in 3D?

I also favor the Versus mode because I want more to do than just the Action/Adventure part of it. In the Versus mode, my friends (or hopefully computer) and I can take a break from Action/Advneture and fight. It will make it more fun, or atleast in my oppinon.
