| Dark_No0B Wrote: I've always thought about things like this being in MKD, and i was going to make a thread about it as well but i just never got around to doing it. While i LOVE the idea, IMO every character shouldnt have these. Personally, i like every character to have there own uniqueness. Increasing stats, power, and such seems like something that would go great with Ermac, since hes more of a tricky type character. Apart from increasing abilities and such, i also think there should be certain fire balls and moves that decrease your opponents abilities. An example of this would be like: - Ermac could have a move called the "Teleknetic disable" where he disables his opponents weapon for a short period of time. - Reptiles acid spit could stun his opponent. Also, his acid spit could have a 1 in a 10 chance of lowering the opponents defense for a bit. - Cyrax's net could have a 1 in a 10 chance of lowering the opponents speed. - Noob Saibot could have an attack that lowers his opponents attack power for a short period of time. Basically, i want to see characters having moves that can increase there stats, decrease there opponents stats, and cause stat-problems (like stunning, limping, ETC). An example of a move that could increase your stat would be johnny cages Shadow Kick. There could be a chance where his speed could increase, making him a bit faster in battle. Granted to this, i would also want to see moves that can change the whole battle scenerio, pretty much challenging your brain. What i mean by this, is that i want to see moves that can increase ONE of your stat but drops another, so heres an example of this: SEKTOR - Since Sektor has a metal-like body, he could have a move called "harden-up" where his defense increases but his speed reduces. BARAKA - We all know Barakas a brutal warrior, so he could have a move called "Maximum Rage" where his attack power increases GREATLY, but he sacrifices his health to half, or a little less. TANYA - She could have a move that increases her speed, but reduces her defense. I'm sure you know what i mean now by increasing moves, decreasing moves, decreasing your opponents moves, causing stat-problems, sacrificing stats, ETC. IMO characters having moves that could increase there stats and such would be awesome. Tell me what you think, i'll talk more about this later on to. |
Awesome ideas dude! I'm glad for the feedback and ideas! Funnily enough, some of those are incorporated into an rpg I play. Namely, the Pokemon games.
The idea for Baraka on Pokemon is a move called Belly Drum. It maximises attack power and cuts your health by half.
There are several tweaked versions of the idea you have for Sektor. Barrier, Iron Defense and Acid Armor double your defense, whilst Curse raises both attack and defence and lowers speed.
The one for Tanya is similar to a move called Dragon Dance, only that raises attack and speed together. No stat is lowered.
If moves like that were implemented for MKD, I think that'd be great. There is another move on the game called Haze which illiminates stat changes. A move similar to that could be used on the game to restore the opponents stats back to normal, only you'd have to have a seperate bar or combination to pull it off. The combination would be a tough one to do maybe.
Your disable idea for Ermac is a move called Disable on the Pokemon games!
The stun side effect has the same percentage attack from electric moves on the Pokemon games. They cause paralysis and there's a 25% chance the opponent cannot move.
There are some speed lowering moves like String Shot which is similar to Cyraxs net since it wraps the opponent so it's interesting that you thought of the speed connection with his move.
And attack lowerers come in the form of sound moves like Growl.
You might think it weird that I'm using an rpg to point these things out, but I think they're all great ideas and would add something new to the fighting genre and MK. It just shows that not only rpgs can use these ideas!

| TemperaryUserName Wrote: Great ideas, bro. I think the chi focus is a nice alternative to the super bar(which is dated since the time of street fighter). I think the addition will give the characters more distinction, and prevent one character from dominating. The idea works well for the MK enviroment. I could imagine Subzero having a cold air aura, and Scorpion emanating flames. |
Thanks bro! I agree that the super bar is past its time now thanks to Street Fighter. It got overused. As long as the focuses are controlled and varied slightly for each player, then I guess your right. Characters wont dominate over others!
Glad you liked the ideas!

Thanks Bro, i'm glad to liked my ideas, i liked yours as well, and have always wanted things like those to be incorporated into MK, especially the whole "charging" power projectiles.
I actually did my ideas from mainly the Pokemon games. I know alot about Pokemon and such because i play it all the time with my younger bro, and i used to play it as well by myself back in the days. There are ALOT of things i like in pokemon that i think should be in MK, especially special moves and power raisings. I've always thought about the Pokemon ideas being in MK, its like a cool fantasy i have and i think it could turn out to be awesome.
The "Haze" move you mentioned definately suits Smoke. Smoke has alot of smoke attacks, so i think the Pokemon move "Haze" would go great with him. When he uses this move, it could prevent other characters attacks from lowering Smokes attack power, defense, speed, and such.
The whole charging projectile concepts is great to, and i think it fits well with Subzero, Scorpion, Ermac, Raiden, and others. With Subzero, the longer you hold his ice shaker attack or ice ball, the longer the opponent freezes for. You can keep making the ice ball bigger and bigger, and you can even decide when you want to do it and when you want to stop, kind of like saving it up and building it slowly. If Subzero would get hit during his charging process, he could lose his powerful ice ball and would have to re-charge all over again.
For Scorpion, he could have his fire ball, and the more he charges it the bigger and more firey it looks and gets. Upon the fire ball hitting the opponent, the longer he had it charged up for, the longer the opponent would burn for. Scorpion could also do this with his spear, except the longer he charges(or the longer you hold the button), the faster he shoots out his spear.
Ermacs is basically the same as scorpions, except his projectile causes more damage upon impact. Raidens could be similar, he longer hes been charged for, the next time he grabs you, you get jolten up more and you lose more damage.
I very well know alot about Pokemon attacks and such. Moves like Growl, Roar and Screech would fit well with Baraka. If Barakas Screech attack hits you, your defense lowers greatly. However, IMO it shouldnt be that simple. Barakas Screech attack should be be hard to pull off since it can be a major tactic in battle. What i mean by this is that it should be fair, lets use Barakas Blade Fury attack for an example........If he doesnt get the opponent, hes left open for a huge combo from the back, or a projectile ball. This should be the same for Screech, it can be helpful, but the attack takes long to pull off and if you miss your opponent your left open for a great combo.
Smoke can also have an attack similar to "Sand Attack" from Pokemon, except Smoke uses smoke. This attack could lower the opponents projectile accuracy and make him/her stumple around briefly, causing there projectiles to miss and go different directions in the arena. Other moves like "Poison Gas" would go well with him to, and the effect of it would be that each time the opponent uses a projectile attack(or switches fighting styles), He/She loses some health. Fits Smoke perfectly IMO.
"Ice Beam" would be a great move for Subzero IMO. He could shoot out a stream of ice that has a possibility of freezing his opponent. "Icy Wind" can be an attack of his that moves slowly, but if it hits his opponent, He/She loses speed and moves slower.
"Thunder Wave" and "Thunder Bold" are attacks that would fit perfect for Raiden IMO. Thunder Wave can be an attack that is hard to pull off and does no damage, but Paralysis the opponent and causes Him/Her to stagger around here and there making He/She usually open to a combo.
Pokemon moves like "Explosion" and "Selfdestruct" fit Cyrax and Sektor great. It should be a little different though. Perhaps each time they use Explosion, they do damage to themself but a bit more damage to there opponent. It could be risky though because its close range, and it the Explosion misses, you just lost some health and your opponent loses none.
"Psychic" type Pokemon moves DEFINATELY go well with characters like Ermac and Kenshi. A move called "Psi Ball" fits Ermac perfectly IMO. It can do little damage, but it reduces the opponents special attack moves and projectiles, making the opponent only want to stick to using combos and weapons. Ermac and Kenshi having disabling moves would be sweet to. There disable attack can disble the opponents weapon, projectiles, certain fighting style, or certain combos for a short period of time.
"Shadow Ball" and "Faint Attack" goes with well Noob Saibot. Shadow Ball could have a 1 in a 5 chance of lowering the opponents Special Defense, meaning that each time Noob uses Shadow Ball again or another one of his special moves, it will do more damage to his opponent than usual if it hits. Faint attack or "Night Shade" could be a move that always does a certain amount of damage to the opponent if it hits. "Confuse Ray" is another attack that suits Noob IMO, causing the opponent to stumple around for a bit.
Other Pokemon moves like "Belly Drum", Curse, Swagger, Flatter, ETC, mainly fit the tough characters or Sub Bosses. I would LOVE to fight a Sub Boss that has an attack where he raises his Attack and Defense, but reduces Speed. Belly Drum fits Bo Rai Cho IMO, Curse and Swagger seems to fit Noob or Ermac. Baraka could have a move called "Sharpen" where his Blades weapon power increases but his Physical hand-to-hand power decreases.
Moves like "Mega Drain", Absorb, Giga Drain, ETC, are moves that match Shang Tsung IMO. If the move connects and he grabs his opponent, he sucks away some of the opponents health and it gets added to his. Extremely powerful moves like Hyper Beam, Solar Beam, Double Edge, and Hydro Pump can be moves that the Bosses like the DK could have. They cause MASSIVE damage IF they hit, but if they dont hit, your open for a long time making you in danger from combos and projectiles.
I'll talk more on this later bro, but tell me what you think of my ideas so far. Everything you said so far and i said, i would LOVE to see in MKD, without a doubt. There are DOZENS of pokemon attacks that i would LOVE to see, almost all of them have a great effect that fits well with MK characters. From stat raising, to chargable projectiles, to disabling and power increasing, they all would fit great in MKD. Tell me what ya think, i'll post more ideas later on.

I'm with you 100% on this one! I love all of the ideas! I know exactly what mean by them all and the side effects!
I just checked your profile! We're both 18 year olds who play Pokemon! lol Which are your faves?
Mine are Houndoom and Lugia! And do you know about RSbot?
Some of the attacks you've named I've actually used in character concepts. Thunderbolt I gave to Raiden for my fanfic. Thunder Wave and some of the disabling moves I've given to my character concept Nemesi. You can check him out in Brodeurs character tourney thread. Although I may repost him to show everyone.
We definitely need to discuss this further! The ideas are awesome! The more Pokemon attacks, the better!

Thanks Bro, its awesome how we think alike. I've been working on my own character concepts to and i've been using alot of Pokemon Style attacks for special moves as well.
Pokemon attacks fit perfectly with MK characters. I play Pokemon ALOT with my younger bro, and i beat all the games to myself. I really enjoyed the Ruby/Sapphire games, but Gold and Silver would have to be my favourites. My lil bro is currently preparing his Pokemon in Colliseum to fight mine. Some of my favourite Pokemon are Blastoise, Ho-oh, Lugia, Umbreon, Rayquaza and Steelix. Pokemon is extremely popular, and i'm from tons of sites that help other people out with it, especially GameFaqs and GameWinners. I cant wait for Fire Red and Leaf Green.
We've definately gotta talk lol, and i will always love the idea of MK characters having these types of moves.

Awesome! I've completed them all except for Red and Blue. Since I finished Yellow, there was no need to do those two anyway. I currently own Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire and Leaf Green. My mate brought me back a copy of Leaf Green from China and it rocks! I have the GSC and RBY Pokes now on Colleseum and Ruby and Sapphire. I've finished the story mode on Colleseum and just have the last Lv 100 cup to do on Battle Mode. And then the Mount Battle challenge to do. If you know about RSbot, what's your username on it? If not, I'll let you know what it is and you can check it out.
Rayquaza isn't all that good. An "Ice Beam" takes it down in one hit! Steelix plain sucks imo. Umbreon is ownage if used correctly as is Ho-oh! And Lugia is my fave, and owns all!
I don't use Gamefaqs or Gamewinners often.
I'll be reposting Nemesi's concept so you can see some of the moves. "Thunder Wave" doesn't paralyse however. It travels along the ground in all directions as a seeking attack.
Now you've gotten me in a huge Poke frenzy! lol I'll be stealing all their attacks now! lol Oh yeah, "Solar Beam" I used on my Ryoko-Hikari character concept if you saw it. Plus she has the "Chlorophyll" ability!
I'll speak to you soon!
What can I say??? This are definitely some of the best Chi ideas I have seen in the entire forum!
You really put a lot of thought and dept to each idea and they were all fantastic! The jumping increase and speed and protection ones were my faves.
Power-Ups in deadly alliance were very very powerful for some and weak for others. Nitara, Drahmin, Quan Chi and Sonya had the most powerful ones, while Sub-Zero had the weakest of all.
Once again excellent ideas dude. If power-ups return, I would like them to be different from mkda, by that I mean, that instead of a character growing like Mario Bross, I rather see them glow with an specific phosphorescent color.
Sonya could glow red, blue or green.
Scorpion black-yellow.
Sub-Zero dark blue.
Rayden white.
Kitana blue.
Mileena purple.
Stuff like that, power-ups were actually in MKtrilogy, but as an AGRESSOR mode and many shadows, I would like them to return but as glows.

Thanks Queve! I'm glad you liked these ideas. I agree that the characters shouldn't grow like in MKDA for the power ups. It was unrealistic and looked silly.
The glowing idea I already mentioned. Ermac would have an aura of souls around him and Raiden would have more electricity. I like the clours you chose for the characters when they glow. Those could work well.

Awesome, i've had a blast completing them as well, especially Colleseum. The RPG mode kicks ass. I'm excited to play Fire Red and Leaf Green.
I agree, Ho-oh and Lugia are definately great Pokemon, super strong and powerful. An Ice Beam can easily take down Rayquaza, but i must say that his special attack and attack are incredible, same with his looks lol. I usually use Steelix in battle against my friends, i find him very helpful. I just curse up, Earthquake, or Explode, bringing down my opponent with me.
I do know what RSbot is, alot of my boys play on there, its pretty cool but i've never played on there before. I'll try it sometime, sounds fun.
Your Nemesi's concept is sweet, and i've red Ryoko's concept in the past before, there both awesome. I'm still currently working on my concepts as well, there looking awesome so far and i've spent HOURS on them, i'm sure you'd like em once i put them in my own thread. I'm also thinking of putting in one of my characters in the whole character contest thing, maybe i will.
Its awesome to hear about things like this, i'm glad your a fan just like me, our ideas OWN. I look forward to chatting with you again.

Awesome! Hopefully we'll see each other on RSbot!
And I loook forward to seeing your concepts. Thanks for the compliments on Nemesi and Ryoko.
And you wouldn't get away with your cursing Steelix strategy on Rsbot or against myself. No one really uses Steelix in a serious battle!
We'll discuss Poke strategies and more about these moves.
I'll talk to you later.
