Deception is a great game. I would just like to find more stuff. I have all the koffins and beat the game with every character. Plus Boon SAID THERE WERE MORE THAN 24 PLAYABLE CHARACTERS, thats why everyone is in such a frenzy right now, because we want to be the first to find them.

I'm going to say this once. I hope someone listens. The super unlockable comment was made during E3. Since that time, many changes have been made, including the addition of a Gamecube version of Mortal Kombat: Deception. Characters have come and gone and the little 4 characters we were going to get have been moved from the PS2 / Xbox version to the Gamecube version. This is the likely scenario, similar to MK1 being moved from MT2 to the KE/PP of MKD.
I would love someone to plow through 2 years of my team's programming work only to shirk it and take some offhand comment of an in development piece of software and twist it around to make it seem as if the great quality finished product is somehow bereft of all goodness simply because plans changed. Get a life, people. Super Unlockable is a word you should stop using.

I guess there is still the possibility that Onaga is playable, which would be cool. I'm just irritated. How much effort would it take to port over some Deadly Alliance characters. Hell you promise people super Unlockables, just port over the 16 characters from Deadly Alliance that aren't in Deception and don't give them stories. It'd be fun just from a gameplay perspective.

You don't even have to do the mission.

How are Raiden and Liu Kang super unlockables? They were easy to get. Raiden you just have to beat in Order Realm and Liu Kang, you have to do the Rain/Jade Mission in Edenia, then at 12am on Friday, the chest is behind a tent in the mountains. Now fighting Reptile in MK1, I want to see something along those lines in this game. I wish they would just make a game with every fighter. Just an arcade game. Mortal Kombat Universe, heh, now that would be sick.

If what you said was true. Then like people have said, I'd be curious how the hacker didn't see Quan-Chi, Jax, Johnny Cage, Sonya, and Shinnok. If he really did hack it he'd have access to these as well.

Right, I bet unlocking all the characters, bios, arenas, alternate costumes and such was so easy that you were on Gamefaqs looking at a guide for it right?
The reason Reptile was such a great super unlockable is because of a few key facts.
1) No internet. It wasn't a factor at the time. Even if one person did figure out how to "unlock" him, how would they let everyone know? Write a letter to a game mag that might take 3 months to get published anyway.
2) Nothing like that had ever been done before. All the clues to unlock him where right there in everyone's face, it still took months for people to figure it out.
3) No game guides. The only thing even resembling a strat guid at the time were the little pull outs in nintendo power.
You want things to be harder? Don't use game guides. No one can sit here and honestly tell me they would of found everything on their own already. Everybody here used a guide at some point. It could of taken you weeks to find out how to get Liu, just like Reptile.
It's a lose-lose situation for Midway. They put out a guide, then they have to deal with things liek this, people bitching because finding everything was "too easy". Or they can choose not to put out a game guide or release any info about the game, and then you have people bitching that there is no guide and it's too hard to find everything.
Quit yer bitchin'. Don't buy a guide, stay away from hex editors, stay away from gamefaqs. Then maybe, possibly, hopefully, you will see that if you had tried to find all the characters on your own it would not have been "that easy".

The game has been hacked and all that was found was Noob Saibot (by himself) Smoke (By himself), Onaga, Monster, Young Shujinko, and Ghost (of Liu Kang). So either those characters are the Super Unlockables or there are none.
Midway has let us down again.

I will make this short and sweet. The guy Hacked with the ps2 version, and he used a codebreaker. Now come down to my neighborhood and lets talk xbox hacking. The characters Exsist, they have a moves list, we just have to unlock them. The Shujinko Young, Monster Scorpion Costume, and Onaga run in a string of elements 00-24 for example are the first few, and up to 28 is where those other four lie. Now ANY CODING EXPERT, or hacker of games for a few years, would notice that you dont leave superunlockables out in the open, they are put away. HIDDEN if you will.
Now if it does come to be they cant be brought out naturally then I'm sure I can find a team of some of the best game modders for the xbox and have them mod the darn thing with sonja jax and whoever else we need. But currently, lets keep our minds open and not bother going by a ps2 hackers ideals ehh? as the man in the post above said, walk with a shepard if you wish to be blind, but i'll keep my eye wide f*ckin open ^_^.

There are Superunlockables, most of them are in PUZZle Kombat!
Play as Tanya, Monster (Scorpions 3th alt), Hotaru, Liu Kang, Onaga and some more!
U will see very soon... ;)

I've changed the thread title as is fit.
That isn't proof.
There can NEVER be proof that there isn't "super unlockables" in the game because it's up for interpretation. You can intpret it as 59 extra characters if you like, while i'll interpret it as Liu Kang, and who's to say either one of us is right?
It's funny how people get pissed off when something doesn't turn out the way it did in their minds, then try to say they were lied to. It happens a hell of a lot with games.

I think Onaga is a playable character, one of the unlockable storyboards is Onaga's. So maybe if they have a ending storyboard for him, maybe he is in it, or maybe the scratched the idea in the end. But the storyboard is there in one of them koffins.

For some reason there's this widely held notion that MK has a history of a bunch of mysterious hidden characters that nobody knows about for months. Maybe that was the case from 1992 to 1994 but it hasn't been since. In MKDA we knew the hiddens early thanks to the guide. In MK4 and MK Gold we knew months and months before it was even out. Human Smoke in UMK3 arcade was the last hidden character that actually took a while to be found. That was in 1996. Yet for some reason time after time everyone is all shocked and surprised when we know all the secrets within days.

Now I myself am a programmer, and i have taken a look inside the mortal kombat data files
and have come to this conclusion
there are alot of string references inside the data files that suggests that many of the characters from Deadly alliance have a movelist, but they only include two or three moves, now that doesn't really mean anything as a little further down their are references to some other files with names of their fighting styles
so they may in fact be playable, but maybe not unlockable in the game, unless you use a cheat device.
There are also references to more puzzle fighters than what can be unlocked, this have already been proved in another thread, so i won't bother explaining any further. but the fact that they seem to work without glitches suggest that there may be a way to unlock them.
But this isn't proof that they can be unlocked in the game, without using a form of cheat device
If anyone wants a more Thorough explanation then i'll be happy to send you mail explaining some more

No real hacker would have a report out this fast. No way has anyone had the time to poor over a couple million lines of code and be thurough. And as far as I'm concerned if you haven't looked at everything you can't say w/o a shadow of a doubt that there are no Secret Unlockables (someone beyond the 24 easy as hell to get chars)
That site just posed from igames
www.iguides.net/mkd/bonus.html
clearly says there are 2 characters
that couldn't at the time be revealed
if they were giong to be so easy
to get like the ones everyone's already
unlocked I doubt that they would have put
that up on the page.
There's always been something super secrety in MK sense I with Reptile
then you have Jade, Smoke and Noob in II. Robo Smoke in MK3, Classic Sub, Classic Smoke, and Reptile in UMK3, Goro was playable in 4 *don't remember how but I remember paying as him and he had fatalities on one system* Trilogy was just a gangbang I don't remember if there were hidden chars in that or not lol. And in DA, Blaze and Mokap were unlockables that weren't displayed on the charselect screen....
You guys are going to say there aren't any?
... bull shit.

I think I have the idea to one of the MAYBE super unlockables.if you look in the bradygames mkd book, there are codes next to the page numbers in the bottom right corner it goes...
1,R,2,L,3,U,4,D,BL.
maybe if you do the button sequence in orde on the main screen were you select what you want to do, it will unlock somthing? or maybe somewhere else in the game, anything can be a possability. I would do it but i have to goto work now. all of you that have time right now should go try it out everywere that you could type these codes, even get creative and do it in konquest, who know it might work there. oh and by the wat these codes keep reapeating themselves over and over again, so if it doesn't work the first time, type it in twice, or maybe three times. but thats my 2 cents.

I don't see why they would refer to them as superunlockable, at least Raiden was easy to find. Besides, Boon said in one of his interview there would be more than 24 playable characters. We just have to find out were they are and not listen to the ney-sayers until about a month or so, when were sure for ourselves that there are no other unlockables or that it takes too much work to get them.

First of, we have little or no way of going over the code, as that has been compiled, so what we do is go over the files instead to see if any of them has a name that could signify a new character or something along those lines. if you get where I'm going
Now I'm not saying that there aren't any super unlockables in this game, but if there are, they are characters already encountered through Konquest, and probably only the ones you can already fight. like Jax, Shang Tsung and so on.
after some searching through the files, it seems as though Jax might possibly be one, as he has many of the same file references as the others already in.
But if you are so sure there are something, why don't you take an HexEditor and go over the games files yourself. then you could se for yourself.
This ain't speculation but pure fact as to what files are available and therefore also what can be unlocked in the game
and for your information you wouldn't have to go over all the lines of code, if you're a programmer you would have an idea as to where to look, if we had the code, we could with in an hour or three find out if there were anything.
But I'm still hoping for some unlockable puzzle fighters, or some from deadly alliance in the arcade mode
Firestar Out......for now
