They Should Have Went the 2D or Shell Shading 2D route like Street Fighter IV or Marvel Vs Capcom

Mortal Kombat has always sucked gameplay wise in 3D every since mk4. The last three games the gameplay sucked major ass the characters seem to blocky and slow and sometimes unresponsive to button commands especially pressing the block button.. Why couldn't they do this game in 2D or shell shaded format that would have been awesome. Just look at how awesome Street Fighter IV looks. They probably could have squeezed a lot more characters in that way.

And why the hell didn't Curtis Stryker make the cut furious

Streef fighter 4 looks boring IMO it looks like street fighter 3 with better graphics. The characters seems to have very few attacks and those looks boring.

Also, we're in 2008, not in 1992. f*** 2D, i'm not a nostalgic person. Some 3D fighters have excellent gameplay. MK vs DC seems to have a great gameplay.

And stryker, i don't care about him. Kung lao deserves the final place :D

If MK goes cell shade then the franchise will officially be dead.

The Mortal Kombat fandom pretty much gutted itself when MK Vs DCU was announced.

If MK went anywhere near cel shading, even if it looked awesome, they would divide by zero and take out the whole fucking world.

Okay, i love the traditional 2D MK games but it is 2008 now (practically 09)and the game is probably gonna have better qualities than the others. And i doubt they would try to because they already did about 4 (now 5) 3D games. And the 2D MK games required actors.

AND, as for Stryker, they probably had alot of different characters in mind before Stryker. Like, Mileena, Reptile, Kung Lao, and if they did pick someone from MK:3 to put in the game they probably would've picked Sindel or Kabal.

Street Fighter looks off the chain. The characters move smooth and quick,.. MK v DC characters look slow and stiff just like the last three. the MK team just don't know how to program a 3D fighter very good thats all, all thou MK is still still fun to play its gameplay lacks in comparison to some of the other fighting titles like DOA or VF or Soul Calibur (which is who they should have crossed with in my opinion which would have made a better well balanced game, that or Killer Instinct) i still think if they used a simplier graphic format they could have had more room and time to squeez in more characters

I disagree. The 2D look SF went for is bad imo. I dislike the non-evolution of SF's time to jump to 3d.

THANK YOU, somebody finally fucking said it. Whats even worse they went a step back from SF3 in the gameplay department as well to accommodate to the casual gamer which is something Street Fighter didn't need to do, Mortal Kombat is the casual gamers fighter, we don't need another one.

About Me

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yes sir, the check is in the mail."

Jack Burton says to HELL WITH CELL SHADING!!!

Not for Mortal Kombat, anyway. NO WAY!!! I'll take my blocky 3-D graphics over cartoonish cell-shading ANY DAY!!! Cell-shading actually turned me off when it came to "The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker," and I consider myself a Zelda fan (maybe not hardcore, but definitely more than casual).

I won't go so far as to say cell-shading isn't right for some games, but there are definitely games I'd never want to see cell-shaded, namely the MK franchise. I'm sure plenty of other people could list more games that would tank if cell-shaded.

And THAT'S what Jack Burton has to say at this time.

Street Fighter 4 looks extremely good in my opinion as far as visuals go. It's very stylish. I would not be opposed to MK taking a similar direction but honestly that's not what keeps me from buying MK games anymore. It's the garbage gameplay.

Fix the gameplay and then I'll care more about what it looks like as far as visual style goes.
NO

I hate cell shading.

The only place i have liked cell shading is with the legend of zelda windwaker, anywhere else is evilness.

Ive grown accustomed to MKs choppy blockyness, really doesnt bother me.

DBZ & Naruto both use cell shaded styles, some of which should only be used for kid games and looked down upon for games that actually have a legacy. Prince of Persia did this, and imo it was foolish.

Now most of you might argue this point, but take Gears of War for example, here's a game that's engine is set on war torn environments, ashy clothing, and bulky characters. All of which look convincingly real. Throw cell shading in a game like that, it would tarnish it's realism feel. Hence SF going into Cell Shading, it's 2008 almost 09 it's not called the future for nothing. If you can't accept the fact that graphics, and open worlds, now day's are making a jump to evolution, in a more realistic look, feel, and playing factor while all provided for 3d, you should be making games for the already dying PS2. Again, My opinion...

I'm no mod but I'm pretty sure that isn't called for in the slightest.

I don't mind cel-shading for some games where it actually suits the title such as DBZ and maybe even some Superhero series like Spider-man. But for MK and Street Fighter, it doesn't suit them well IMO.

Ironically MK4 was more 2D than 3D. Essentially they already made what you're asking for and by the sounds of it you're saying you didn't like it.

I agree though. Mortal Kombat should have taken the route Capcom have with Street Fighter 4, using MK3's mechanics. Instead of trying to be... whatever it is now.

I will say that I wouldn't mind one bit if cel-shading were used for MK.

Cel-Shading doesn't automatically mean cartoony like Naruto or DBZ. You could make some pretty creepy visuals with cel-shading.

I'm on the page as The_Truth. I care about the gameplay, everything else is secondary to me.

No.

I want the game to look more "realistic" in that aspect.

I love how they accomplished this with some characters who have never looked better for this game: Sonya and Shang Tsung for example.
