The misinformation, myth and speculation spread all over the net about the roster is just insane. We've got like 3 different people insisting they know the official ammount of characters.


I really wouldn't take anything a Midway rep says all that seriously. A statement like "a torrent of hidden characters" could mean many things. Both "torrent" and "hidden characters" are vague.

He was confirmed by my source back in May. We'll see him in game as something big is supposed to happen with him but he isn't playable at this time. I don't know if he will be.

Kobra has been a prototype name up until this point by the fans. No one at Midway has EVER used Kobra for anything.

The game is still two months away and the official MKD site will probably be updated a few times until then. So keep checking the site code for any changes in the roster.

Thanks Tgrant, I guess if anything, he may play a role in the Konquest.

I think that what we can do is wait til the game comes out and find out the characters or wait til BOON/Midway tells us news because people are giving all kinds of false information in this thread. All this DECEPTION is really getting the best of us if you have news please give the source and don't pull it out of your assclot lol thank youuu... and also it really is looking grim for Sektor fans looks like he'll be secret.

I believe there are gonna be 27 characters on the screen itself. Don't think the other ones were mentioned. There 27 people listed on that list meaning there is gonna be another column on the select screen (9x3).

If you take off two characters we haven't seen (Havik and Onaga) and the boss character (Dragon King) then there are only 24. We don't know if the DK will be playable, and we have NO idea who Havik and Onaga are. They could just be side characters in a story.

I'm guessing Shujinkos buddy Daminishi isn't in it anymore.

Havik and Onaga : one of these two will be for sure the Kombattant formerly known as Skab, and the other will be probably the sub-boss, "Chimaira"...

Damashi : he seems to have no human shape, in Konquest mode, he's just an orangy light... He was probably never foreseen as playable character

Who said anything about them not being playable? Seriously. They're almost definitely going to be playable. There are going to be atleast 37 playable characters.

i looked up the name "Onaga" on a search engine and i found this. i was hoping to find some sort of significance but i didnt really. im just posting this up to those who want to know what an "Onaga" is...

Onaga (Etelis coruscans) is one of Hawaii’s fish better known by its Japanese name which is Ula`ula. It is also called ruby snapper or long-tail red snapper. Most of the Onaga caught off the Hawaii shoreline range in size from 1 to 18 pounds.

So Onaga comes from a fish. Well, if Mortal Kombat's history plays through, the character will have almost nothing to do with the fish. (ie: Scorpion, I guess the spear counts as a stinger. And Kobra...who...has cobra symbols)

That would be retarted. He would be RIDICULOUSLY dominant in ANY fight, and they have NEVER done this in the past. I don't count Shao Kahn, Kintaro, etc from Mortal Kombat Trilogy because they weren't ever meant to be anything but bosses. They were made playable to make the roster seem bigger and to make everyone happy.

Being able to play as a Boss is a very stupid thing, unless they make Baraka or Liu Kang the sub-boss, then that would make sense. This is why I think Boon said the Sub-boss would be playable, because it is one of the normal characters like Liu Kang. I think Liu Kang is evil, being controlled by the DK so he will be the sub-boss. I think Baraka is a possibility, too.

Who knows, but in conclusion, a Boss being playable is a very stupid thing. Has any boss in any normal MK game ever been playable? NO. Well, yes and no. I know I know, your gonna say Shinnok and Quanchi/Shang Tsung. Those don't count either. Those are normal characters, that is why they are playable. The DK is a Giant beast thing. He won't be playable.

Lol.....well if our sub boss is indeed a Chimera then i wouldnt be suprised. Because a Chimera is a beast with different animal hybrids on him, which includes dragons/goat/bird/snake/lion/insect, etc. Basically a Chimera can have any hybrids of an animal but the main parts are dragon, goat, snake, and lion.

Perhaps this is why we've been finding so many different types of species whenever you typed in "Onaga".

I always ask my Japanese wife to indentify symbols and characters from the MK series that appear to be Japanese. She said that onaga means "long tail" in reference to the pic with the birds.

As you know, Japanese phrases always translate in English in sort of a backwards sense. But like someone mentioned before, Ed Boon and company can twist things around. Example:

katana=samurai sword
Kitana=nothing.......Boon just changed the lettering to create a characters name.

I know it's a long-shot but when

JAPANESE

and

RED

are part of the answer then maybe, just maybe, Sektor has changed his name with his new found status. It is MK Deception, afterall.
