Well, we've finally seen some footage of Kabal in action. He was kept under wraps for a long time, but a couple recent videos have shown him in all his glory. What are your thoughts on him so far? His look? His styles? His special moves?

First of all, I'd like to say that I was very glad to see him on the select screen as an immediately playable character (although I suppose it's possible that could change). However, I was a little disappointed that they apparently gave him Goju Ryu. I guess I'm just not a big karate fan, since it just seems kinda plain. Also, is it just me or do all the karate styles (Goju Ryu, Shorin Ryu, Shotokan) look very similar? Also, with his Sun Bin style, doesn't Jade also have that style? Maybe they're not final...anyway...

Moving on to special moves and fatality, it's good to see his plasma shot and spin dash back, but the latter looks less distinctive this time around. In fact, Deception's special moves in general seem to be a little half-assed. Same, really, with Kabal's fatality, in which he shreds the spinning opponent with a hooksword. The huge chunks of opponent just seem a little cheesy and MK4ish. Again, this seems to be a general problem, especially the aforementioned "MK4ish" quality.

I agree with everything you said, and actually, i was thinking the same about the fighting styles.......especially with ones ending with Ryu and such. They all seem familiar to one another. Its funny cause there are TONS of fighting styles out there, so i'm hoping the creators didnt just want to be lazy!

I'm glad to see his plasma ball and web spin attack back, his all time best moves. His Hookswords are impressive to. As for his fatality.......meh, i liked it but i wasnt to fond of it. Looked a tad cheesy IMO.

thing it is great how they made kabal ito 3d, his moves and fatality are very clever, i hear his hari kari is cool to, they metionied it on game spot, kills him self with his hookswords

Kabal is one of the best Classic character makeovers. He looks great with the hookswords, they belong to him.
Ok so he didn't get a "makeover" but just wait for his ALT.

He looks good and his fat is cool..

What dissapointed me a little are his special moves.. he only has 3...
We now 2 of them are the plasma blast and the running move.. and the third is called "nomad's touch".. and if what boon said about ALL old moves being back... that's the grownd saw...

I really don't lkike when they just 3-D a character... like they did in MKG

I never thought that I'll see Kabal again. One of the best fighters from MK games has returned and he looks great. But I still hope that he won't have sun bin fighting style...

Kabal is probably the MOST creative MK character ever, his design since MK3 was amazing.He's the reason for faces being totally disfigured and people using hook like objects in games, along with the GAS MASK look that other platform games have copied. I think Havik and Drahmin were Kabal rip-offs, I don't like how MK goes with a great idea and runs it to the ground by making characters just like them. Oh well..Kabal is the original.

Kabal is one of the best characters from MK3 and it looks like the MKD crew has done a good job bringing him into 3D.

Any idea what his alternate costume will be like? Has there been a pic posted? Just wondering.

I really have to disagree with that. Kabal is nohing new. We've seen vigilantes in almost every game, and we've seen characters with disfigured faces. I think Kabal is a very plain character.

BTW, is that black jacket he has Mavado's. Just a thought I had, we'e seen Mavado take Kabal's Hookswords "supposedly", I just hope we don't see Kabal take Mavado's jacket "supposedly".

Kabal looks more or less the same as in MK3

Im dissapointed on his looks and I hope his Alt is better like someone said above

But fighting-wise he looks like a punisher and can dish out some serious ass beatings

His hookswords style looks a lo better

I never liked him... In fact, he's one of MK characters I hate the most... I don't like his look (his helmet makes me thinking about Darth Vader rip off), I don't like his story, either his moves in MK3... But if he has some cool fighting styles in MKD, maybe I will give him a second chance...
