Um....why can't we block throws anymore? This lack of thinking turns a potentially good game of skill and technique into a "who can find the throw button quicker?" cheeze match.
Throws are cheap and too often abused online. Truly a shame, there should be a 2 throws limit to ever round. But I guess it's too late for that.....unless they come up with a download fix to keep on a memory card. ...yeah! Is that possible!?
My name is Lithium, and please don't throw me.

I use to hate them, too. No, they can't be blocked, but they can be avoided (if you're quick enough) by ducking.

Dude, throws aren't supposed to be blockable. Play any fighting game and throws are unblockable. MK:DA screwed up by making them otherwise. Throws>defense, defense>attack, attack>throw. That's how a game should play. Unfortunately what screws up Deception is that throws can't be broken either.

I have broken out of a throw once. And I agree, throws should not be blockable. But, we've been over that subject several times.

if the only move u do is the throw, then ya, it kind of is...
ive already played a bunch of people who thought it was thier only button.
it can be avoided, and somtimes broken, but its still tricky if yer not used to it.
for example i fought like 4 people yesterday who used mileena like MK1 sonya, they just flipped me over and grabbed me again.
so this is nothing new of course, it just used to be blockable instead of avoidable.
Ultimately, just like in the past, the constant throw tactics will help us all to sharpen our skills and overcome it...
then it will no longer be cheesy... it will simply be a useless ploy.

Blocked throws were my only gameplay gripe about MK:DA. Throws are there to keep people from blocking all day and night. Having high a low attacks that must be blocked that way helped keep that from happening but sitll throws are ment to be unblockable.
I had other MK:DA gripes but they are all fixed in this game. A++ for MKD

You can block certain throws with the breaker., but only the throws that end in punches.

I think blocking, in itself is abused.
as if you could put 1 arm up & stop a spear, it's ridiculous

Uh...you could guard against throws in most other MK games by holding down/back+block.

im realy torn on this throwing issue...
on the one hand i want to say a throw Shouldnt be blocked...
lets face it, they have a point... im not welded to the ground or anything right? so why SHOULDNT they be able to throw me.
on the other hand, im having a hell of a time dealing with it in the ring...
im not blocking cowardly... far from it, im a very aggresive player.
but the default move for some is the throw, and all im doing is allowing a half second of me blocking... to try and aticipate wether the incoming attack will be high or low...
and before i can duck theyre all over me with a throw.
very hard to break my old habits.

Doesn't make it right. Throws are supposed to beat defense. It's just logical game design.

I also find it rather annoying that if I do block and duck to avoid a leg sweep or cheesy throw, I can get hit by any mid attack. furious ! I miss the keep away moves from deadly alliance to push your opponent away without causing damage.
I guess the breaker is the closest thing to that now.
Still though, super fun game.

The throw system in D is better than DA by far. So many more mix up options, preasure games and so forth are now available. As Tony meantioned, throws are meant to break defense. That's their purpose - unless you're playing vf, lol. The throw system in D is not great, but it is adequite and the best system MK has had so far.

Lithium, the two things you're complaining about are two of the biggest parts of fighting games (well, they should be). Any 3D fighting game that doesn't contain the elements you mentioned in your posts should never see the light of day.
Fooling your opponent into blocking low, and then hitting a mid attack comprises about 30% of what fighting games are about, just as fooling your opponent into blocking high, then landing a throw comprises another 20% of what fighting games are about. Mind games and mix ups.
I recommend playing a good fighter, like VF or Tekken for a few weeks so you can get an idea of what a fighter should feel like. I can understand how somebody could not know much about these things if they don't often play fighting games, or have only ever played MK though.
(By the way MK:D hasn't yet been released here, and this no throw escape thing has got me a bit worked up. Can somebody clear this up for me; is there, or is there not, throw escapes?)

Holding down+back+block does not block a throw, it just dodges it. As will just holding down+back.

Throw is so overpowered in MKD , that if someone chooses to abuse it , that the entire match revolves around a dire gameplay of it . There really is'nt anyway to avoid it , other than resort to it . To beat garbage players like this , you must unfortunately stoop to garbage yourself . A spiteful match of crouchblock throw drains the fun completely out of game .
Just went round and round about this with a RL friend . Been playing deception since release . We play with alot of people , we play to have fun and enjoy the depth of the game . When it got to the point where we had learned for the most part , basic moves , strikes and combo's , we were having a real blast .
Then , hateful envious retard kid comes around , starts right in with the crouch block throw match . Immediately pisses everyone off . Now , most of my friends can't play well enough yet to get around the cheapskate artist style , I however , can . So I took it upon myself to teach this punk and his 2 bit excuse for game , a lesson . Not only can I play like garbage too , but I can do it better than you . I proceed to be a merciless scumbag , cramming throws down his gullet 3 - 0 until he felt as hateful as everyone else , mumbling spitefully to himself in the corner till I thought he was gonna cry .
Did this kid take a hint ? Nope he returned the next day butt hurt , still pulling the same crap , I refused this time however to stoop down to this level of crap , and teach him yet again , the lesson of the night before . I gave him a lecture on how I play games to have fun , not to breed spite and contempt within the circle of people I keep as my friends . Told his sorry ass he was undeserving of having a few friends to hang with and enjoy some good game . Hopefully he will get a clue and decide to learn to play instead of indulging in garbage .

wow, its like some of you guys are too stupid to actually understand.... simply treat a throw as a low attack... treat it as a sweep. holy-friggen-cow guys come on. and if someone else likes crouch throwing, every character has at LEAST 1 mid attack.. so just use it.... really, just cuz you cant find the solution doesnt mean there isnt one.
try this with me, instead of saying:
"THROWING IS FOR FAGS!"
say:
"Hi everyone, Whats the best way to beat throws?"
good :D
(i dont abuse throws myself, considering i dont fight people that are new enough to be abused by it. dont think im flaming you, just giving you advice in a rude way :D )
PS: Someone PM me a pic of Hotaru from the char select screen or something, i wanna use it as my display pic on msn.
