Weapon Combat blocking

I believe that if a foe hits you with a weapon and you block, they should either A.) have a blocked weapon strike deal more damage to an unarmed foe, or B.) make the block a litle more realistic. FOr isntance if shang tsung is using his straight sword, instead of just throwing out your forarm, you could press block plus... let's say a punch button and you could use a more realistic block such as stoping the strike by claping your hands together on the sword.
I know it's a small detail, but I think it would be increddibly cool if they could incorperate a more advanced blocking system.. and this would certainly add depth.

yes there definitely needs to be an improvement to the blocking system.Eg the character moves out of the way and pushes the back of the blade away from his or herself

Weapon VS hand combat blocking could be evasions, side steps, and flips. A parry would be to clap the weapon and attack, or some kind of realistic hand vs weapon reversals.

I agree with you MKRaiden. I also like your idea of stopping the weapon by clapping your hands togther on the blade. When unarmed, some characters can have specific weapon blocks.
Kenshi and Ermac would use their telekinesis to prevent it hitting them when you push the block button.
Raiden could phase out as if he is teleporting, although only the limb being struck would do this.
Characters with armour and padding can use those to protect themselves by shifting to a proper position so that the weapon strikes the armour.

I like the idea of possibly incorporating the special abilities of characters into the blocking system. That would be pretty cool.
Im glad to see im not the only one who thought this issue should be addressed.
I guess the only reason I said maybe a button could be pressed was possibly to give experienced players the advantage to block a weapon with no, or little health decrease, that way it would give it a little more depth. PLus I guess that might work with the new indicator lights, but I have nothing against just the good old block button.

I think when you block a weapon and you are unarmed, it should make you stagger back a few feet--much like the safe effect as back in MK3 when fighting Shao Kahn, you got pushed back every time you blocked that big swinging axe! And you should take more block damage.
I think that unarmed warriors should not only have the ability to grab the weapon as it's being swung, but also STEAL it away and keep it for themselves! How's THAT for more weapon combat strategy?
Also, if both warriors are armed and you attack a warrior blocking with his weapon, then you slowly do damage to the WEAPON itself--and if you keep attacking the weapon, it gradually gets damaged more and mor euntil uit's permanently destroyed for the remainder of that round. Like for example, back in Deadly Alliance, if Sub-Zero and Sonya had their weapons out, and he kept using his Kori lade to attack Sonya while she's blocking with her Kali Sticks, Sonya's weapons would continue to get chipped or split into wood pieces until they are totally destroyed and become useless!
